EXTREME ADJECTIVES 1. INTRODUCCIÓN Los adjetivos fuertes o extremos son un tipo de adjetivo que extreman la cualidad de una persona o un objeto. Por ejemplo, podemos decir que tenemos mucha hambre (very hungry) o que estamos hambrientos (starving), que hace mucho frío (very cold) o que estamos helados (freezed), que esa casa es muy grande (very big) o que es enorme (huge). A continuación os presento un pequeño listado con los principales adjetivos extremos en inglés

Tiny (Diminuto) = Very small
Enormous / Huge (Enorme) = Very big
Delicious (Delicioso) = Very tasty
Furious (Furioso) = Very angry

Boiling (Hirviendo) = Very hot
Freezing (Helado) = Very cold

Algunas reglas para el uso de los adjetivos fuertes o extremos ( Con adjetivos extremos, no usamos comparativos y superlativos: My parents’ house is enormous. My parents’ house is more enormous / the most enormous. Use diferentes adverbios si usa los adjetivos extremos Con los adjetivos regulares, podemos usar estos adverbios:
EXTREME ADJECTIVES a little, a bit, slightly, fairly, rather very, extremely, immensely, intensely, hugely Ejemplos: I’m rather hungry. / I’m very hungry. This room is a bit dirty. / This room is extremely dirty. We’re a little tired. / We’re immensely tired. Con los adjetivos extremos, no podemos usar estos adverbios: I’m rather starving. / I’m extremely starving / I’m very.wonderful, Sin embargo, hay otros adverbios que podemos usar para dar énfasis adicional al adjetivo extremo: absolutely (absolutamente) completely (completamente) utterly (totalmente) Ejemplos: I’m absolutely furious. We’re completely exhausted. The movie was utterly terrifying. *Las palabras "pretty"(bastante, mucho) and "really" (muy, realmente) pueden ser usadas con adjetivos regulares y extremos: This room is pretty dirty. (regular) This room is pretty filthy. (extreme) The party is really crowded. (regular) The party is really packed. (extreme)
