Headstock Pulley Maximum RPM The VL100 Stand Mount EVS (electronic variable speed) provides up to 150% torque on low RPM, spindle speeds from 12-3500 rpm (see table), 240 volt – sufficient power to meet demands of the serious wood turner (0.55kW / 0.75HP Motor).

Digital Readout

Vicmarc® were the first to introduce MT2, and taper roller bearings in this size lathe. The Vicmarc® mini lathe is in a class of its own when compared to other mini lathes on the market. The best value feature-by-feature of any mini lathe sold in the world. Vicmarc® is clearly the mini lathe of choice. The VL 100 has an optional 500mm bolt on extension facility.

4 VL175 LATHES 4.1 VL175 BM EVS

Separate EVS (electronic variable speed) box that can be mounted away from the lathe. Includes magnetic remote switch box that can be positioned anywhere you are working.

Headstock positioned at 90 degrees. The headstock can be positioned in 4 positions 0, 30, 60 & 90 degrees.

The VL175 lathe has a 1.1kw electronic variable speed unit, which gives 200% torque in low RPM. On 1:1 ratio the speeds range from 30 to 3000rpm (see table). On 1:3 ratio the speeds range from 10 to 965rpm. For extra torque, simply change the Poly V Belt to the 1:3 ratio.

The VL175 Bench Mount EVS (electronic variable speed) is ideal for the hobbyist. This is a versatile machine because of its 90-degree swivel head facility and solid cast iron construction. The VL175 bench model is only available with electronic variable speed. An outboard turning attachment is an optional extra. The Variable Speed Unit for VL175 is contained inside a strong steel enclosure and can be mounted on the wall behind the machine.

4.2 VL175 SM EVS

Separate EVS (electronic variable speed) box that can be mounted away from the lathe. Includes magnetic remote switch box that can be positioned anywhere you are working.

The VL175 Stand Mount EVS (electronic variable speed) lathe has a 1.1kw unit, which gives 200% torque in low RPM. On 1:1 ratio the speeds range from 30 to 3000rpm (see table). On 1:3 ratio the speeds range from 10 to 965rpm. For extra torque, simply change the Poly V Belt to the 1:3 ratio. The machine has a 360mm swing, 1000mm between centres, and a front turning facility is possible by swivelling the head to 90° to the bed.

The VL200 Long Stand Mount 6 Speed Lathe has the capacity of a full size lathe and offers many features such as tapered roller bearings, indexing facility, storage space, easy discharge wood shaving chute and through holes in both spindles. A fully cast iron lathe, mounted on a solid constructed 3mm steel stand, with a 700mm footprint, gives the turner a vibration free machine. This is an excellent lathe at an economical price. This lathe is also fitted with safety switches on the motor door and the headstock cover plate, which makes it ideal for schools and first lathe buyers.

7.4 VL200S ASM EVS

The VL200 Short Adjustable Stand Mount EVS (electronic variable speed) lathes are suited to those wood turners who require superior performance and reliability. This lathe has similar features to the VL300 series but more compact in size. The electronic variable speed drive gives up to 200% torque on low rpm and the 1.5kw motor is more than adequate for this size lathe. The three-step pulleys provide 3 ratios 1:1 for small to medium size work; 1:1.5 for medium to large work; and 1:3 for large work. The cast iron lathe is mounted on a 5mm thick steel plate stand, which has been designed with a 700mm wide footprint for stability and rigidity. The stand also features wood shaving discharge chute and a knee stop bar. Includes magnetic remote switch box that can be positioned anywhere where you are working.

VL200 Sit Down Specifications Centre Height

The VL200 Sit Down lathe has been designed to suit people in wheelchairs or for people who have trouble standing for a long period of time. The lathe comes complete with an electronic variable speed unit, a 1.5kW motor and a magnetic remote switch box that can be positioned anywhere where you are working. The stand can also be purchased separately to suit a VL200 Short bed Lathe (Stand Only - Part No. V01083) The stand is designed to be adjustable to suit many different applications and sizes. The adjustable legs allow up to 150mm height adjustment (every 25mm) and the pivoting bed allows a tilt angle from 0° to 45° (every 7.5°). The work height range from the floor to the centre of the spindle while the lathe is tilted at 45° is from 750mm to 900mm (for sit down operation) and when the lathe is horizontal (tilted at 0°) the height range is from 950mm to 1100mm (for standing operation).

The ultimate tool support system is the smoothest and easiest to use due to the use of sealed bearings in the support column and in each articulated joint. Unlike other gated tool support systems the only friction comes from just the tool in contact with the toolrest. It will accept tool diameters of 3/4”, 5/8”, 1/2” and 12mm. A laser wall thickness/depth gauge attachment without laser is included in the package as well as a tool post locking collar for setting the height of the tool post. 18. OUTBOARD TURNING Both the Tripod and the Outboard Turning Attachment have a 40mm diameter support post that is locked with indexed locking levers. These are very rigid outboard turning attachments and have swan necks to increase access to the work piece. The Vicmarc® Outboard turning attachments are available to facilitate large diameter turning on VL175 with the head swiveled through 90 degrees and outboard on the VL200 and VL300 series lathes. 20 BALANCING SYSTEM The balancing system mounts on the outboard side of your lathe and is suited for out-of-round or offcentre work. Using the balancing system enables you to work with higher RPM. 21. OVAL TURNING DEVICE VOD300 Oval turning is an old art of turning, it has been practiced since the middle ages. Professor Johannes Volmer was able to create a system for oval turning using tooth belts for smooth operation. Vicmarc® has re-engineered this device and simplified the operation and setup. From the website of Professor Johannes Volmer: “Ovalturning is an old challenging woodturning art. It was applied until the middle of the 20th century in frame manufactories. There were many such factories in European countries but nothing remained. In the USA the Old Schwamb Mill - a frame factory founded in 1864 by German immigrants - has been well preserved. 23. SWIVEL HEAD SANDER

Combine this lightweight sander with the power of your shop vacuum to create an effective, nonaggressive sanding system that will reduce nuisance dust 25 to 50% in your workshop. Though not intended as a substitute for a respirator or proper dust filtration, this system will help keep your shop clean and make your time sanding more enjoyable. Includes a 45mm and a 75mm Velcro sanding pad. Requires a vacuum hose adapter for use. It can also be used simply as a sanding tool without the need for a vacuum. 25. VM90 CHUCK The VM90 chuck is for those who prefer to operate the chuck using the quick- acting Tommy Bars (levers), which saves time when mounting and dismounting. The VM90's compact size makes it ideal for use on 300mm (12in) capacity lathes or smaller and is ideal for use with the Vicmarc® Bowl Jaws. On a lathe with a spindle lock only one Tommy bar needs to be used to close the jaws; the bar is pushed away from the operator. Basic chuck includes: 1 x Standard Jaws, 1 x 3mm T-Bar Allen Key, 1 x Woodscrew, 2 x 7.9mm Tommy Bars, and owner's manual. 26. VM100 CHUCK The VM100 T- Bar Allen Key operated chuck provides one- hand tightening along with tremendous gripping power provided by the 4.5 to 1 ratio of the scroll. Keyed chucks cannot be beaten when is comes to holding power. The totally enclosed back assures consistent, smooth action by preventing dust and debris from getting into scroll of the chuck. The VM150 has two actions, one to quickly open and close the chuck as though it was lever operated (fully opens within 3 revolutions), the other to tighten using the 'T' key as you would in a standard key operated scroll chuck.

To switch from lever operated to key operated, line up the two dots as shown above, and rotate the locking pinion using the 10mm T-bar (supplied with the chuck). Turn clockwise to engage and anticlockwise to disengage.

29. ECCENTRIC CHUCK #3 The Vicmarc® Escoulen Chuck originally designed by Jean Francois Escoulen and manufactured by Vicmarc® expands the possibilities for off centre turning. The accessories also allow eccentric turning. The main feature of the chuck is its infinitely variable axis setting capacity. With the range of 0 to 30mm each setting gives a different turning axis. In addition to this the rotating cup chuck allows you to create an even wider variety of shapes, depending on the chosen axis. The optional ball chuck allows the work piece to be swiveled up to 15° off the z-axis for even more flexible turning. (See diagram)

Escoulen Chuck with standard accessories

The combination of several shapes on a single piece, without having to remove the work piece, enables the creative turner to make very personal and original pieces. Manufactured from K1045 (medium tensile steel - 45 tonne) the chucks have a higher durability ensuring a longer life and a very high quality finish, which is less susceptible to rust.
