Colegio Marista Castilla (PALENCIA) Science 4º - Educación Primaria. Teacher: Sara Dios Puebla UNIT 3 LIVING THINGS
NATURAL SCIENCE
Contenido mínimo para estudiar: LIFE PROCESSES (procesos vitales): 1. Nutrition (nutrición): Plants make their own food using photosynthesis (las plantas fabrican su propia comida usando la fotosíntesis). Animals feed on other living things (los animales se alimentan de otros seres vivos). Fungi and bacteria feed on dead plants and animals (los hongos y las bacetias se alimentan de plantas y animales muertos).
2. Interaction
(interacción):
Living
things
interact
with
their
environment (interactúan con el medio ambiente). 3. Reproduction
(reproducción):
Animals
can
be
oviparous
or
viviparous (los animales pueden ser ovíparos o vivíparos). Plants reproduce using seeds or spores (las plantas se reproducen usando semillas o esporas). 4. Respiration (respiración): Animals take in oxygen from the air or water (los animales cogen oxígeno del aire o del agua). Plants “breathe” using photosynthesis (las plantas “respiran” usando la fotosíntesis). 5. Excretion (excreción): Animals excrete harmful substances such as carbon dioxide, sweat and urine (los animales excretan sustancias nocivas como el dióxido de carbono, el sudor o la orina).
6. Growth and movement (crecimiento y movimiento): animals and plants grow (los animales y las plantas crecen). Animals move from place to place (los animales se mueven de un lugar a otro). Plants can move towards light or water (las plantas pueden moverse hacia la luz o el agua).
HOW ARE LIVING THINGS ORGANISED? (¿Cómo están organizados los seres vivos?):
A cell is the smallest living unit (una célula es la unidad de vida más pequeña).
Cells work together to form tissue (las células trabajan juntas para formar tejidos).
Tissues work together to form organs (los tejidos trabajan juntos para formar órganos).
Organs that group together form systems (los órganos se agrupan en sistemas).
Systems work together to form an organism or living thing (los sistemas trabajan juntos para formar un organism o un ser vivo).
LIVING THINGS CAN BE CLASSIFIED (se pueden clasificar) INTO 5 KINGDOMS (en 5 reinos): THE MONERA
THE PROTIST
THE FUNGUS
THE ANIMAL
THE PLANT
(monera) KINGDOM
(protista) KINGDOM
(hongo) KINGDOM
