The toughest jobs demand Cummins power. In the industrial marketplace, you face the most punishing conditions every day. Sand. Clay. Mud. And rock. Conditions that demand maximum performance and maximum productivity from your equipment on every job. You won’t survive without it.

And when you’re facing a wall of rock as tall as a city building, you can’t afford to compromise your power. With Cummins K Series diesel engines, you’re assured horsepower ratings that can deliver optimum performance. With reliable, durable power ranging from 925-2000 horsepower, Cummins has a K Series diesel engine designed and built to supply the right amount of power for your application.

K50

1600-2000 hp

K38

925-1350 hp

When you call on your equipment to move mountains, you can count on Cummins K2000E and K1800E diesel engines to stand their ground. These engines top off the K Series with CENTRY electronics as a standard feature.

For the big power to move big equipment, the K38 12-cylinder engine is ready to dig in. Available at ratings from 925 hp to 1350 hp, the K38 is the power of choice in electric- or mechanical-drive haul trucks, loaders, excavators and shovels.

The K2000E and K1800E provide greater flexibility and control for increased performance benefits like:

The K38 is a powerful 12-cylinder diesel engine built to outlast any engine in its horsepower range. In many cases, the K38 far exceeds 14,000 hours before rebuild. . . outliving its closest competition by as much as 4,000 hours. For delivering long-lasting performance, the K38 continues to be the benchmark by which other diesel engines are measured.

■ Improved engine response up to 30% over engines equipped with mechanical governors. ■ Reduced fuel consumption even under heavier loads for maximum fuel efficiency throughout the horsepower range. ■ Easier maintenance for reduced cost of operation and minimum downtime. The 16-cylinder, high-performance K50 is designed to be the power of choice in 190-ton and higher electric-drive haul trucks and the hardest-working excavators. The K1800E is the single-stage turbocharged version of the K2000E. The simplified two-turbo design of the K1800E provides reliable, more fuel-efficient operation with no loss in responsiveness. By changing the cam and employing a double-stage turbocharging system, a recalibration of the fuel system can uprate the K1800E to 2000 horsepower. And in the 1600-horsepower rating of Cummins K50 engines, you have a choice of the time-proven PT® fuel system or CENTRY electronics for even greater performance and control.

And, like the K2000E and K1800E, the K38 is ready for the future. . . equipped with optional CENTRY electronics. Choose this engine for the highest performance and efficiency levels.

The strong keep getting stronger. Cummins continues to lead the industry in high-horsepower applications through our thorough testing of all K Series engines and their components. From top to bottom, every K Series component must maintain the highest levels of reliability, durability and efficiency that are the foundation for Cummins reputation in the industrial marketplace. By applying advanced diesel engine technology, Cummins continues to find ways to increase productivity, reduce your operating costs and extend the life of your engine.

For power that’s built tough enough to survive the most extreme applications. . . and to perform in the most unrelenting conditions, you need Cummins K Series engines. With the most advanced design and manufacturing techniques and CENTRY electronics, you can count on Cummins K Series engines for the kind of earthshaking power your equipment demands. When you choose CELECTTM electronics, you can add on the powerful diagnostic tool we call CENSE.TM

Componentry enhancements that improve engine responsiveness and fuel efficiency include:

■ High-performance injector design provides increased fuel injection pressure and improved combustion characteristics.

■ Inconel exhaust valves to withstand higher temperatures for greater reliability and durability.

■ Rotators on both intake and exhaust valves for reduced wear and extended valve life. ■ Optional triballoy intake valves for high-service duty applications.

■ Improved exhaust manifold hardware for greater reliability and durability.

■ Cylinder head which improves intake and exhaust flow for optimized engine performance and reduces combustion face temperatures for longer cylinder head life.

■ Fully fillet-hardened crankshaft with reduced bolt circle and rolled threads for even greater strength and durability on most models.

■ Channel chrome top ring for increased durability and improved fatigue strength of ring. ■ Gallery-cooled piston design on K2000E and K1800E engines reduces piston crown and ring temperatures as much as 100°F for enhanced durability, reduced piston ring wear and increased cylinder life up to 30%.

I need global coverage.

Knowledge is power. Cummins CENSE lets you see inside your engine, viewing engine performance on a cylinder-by-cylinder basis while your equipment is operating. Sensors in strategic locations send a constant stream of data back to the ECM on lubrication, cooling, fuel and air handling, crankcase pressure and more. All this information is logged and timestamped, so you can review trend data and confidently extend maintenance intervals while limiting potential repair incidents. What’s more, CENSE can be programmed to deliver summary reports by exception, so you can quickly pinpoint faults without going through a mountain of information.

Working over the Web. All of the data that is collected by CENSE can be broadcast back to home base using the latest mining dispatch systems. And, with an exciting new feature, we can now put all this information up on your own secure section of our web site at www.mininggateway.com. So wherever you are, if you have access to the Internet, you can view engine and vehicle data from your mine site. Including hours of operation, fuel consumption, fault alerts and more. But there’s a lot more to mininggateway.com than a place to view your engine data. It is a complete mining information station, with e-mail

addresses to mining experts and engineers within Cummins who can answer questions about maintenance, operation, application engineering and more. Plus a forum where you can chat with other mine operators and catch up on the latest mining news stories. The mininggateway.com site lets you spend time at home and check up on how your equipment is working. It’s a great innovation that lets mining operators like you reach your dream of being responsible to your jobs and your families, at the same time.

Cummins three-step warranty coverage. Cummins standard warranty coverage is one of the best in the industry. It’s also one of the easiest to understand, with just three simple steps: Step one: Full coverage on all Cummins industrial engines and branded components with unlimited hours during the first year of operation. This includes Cummins branded electrics such as alternators, starters, etc. Step two: Full coverage is extended for the second year, up to 2,000 hours of operation. Total hours are cumulative from the time the engine goes in service. Step three: Major component coverage including block, crankshaft, camshaft and rods on all products for the third year or up to 10,000 hours of operation. Total hours are cumulative from the time the engine goes in service.

Then you need Cummins Encompass protection. Encompass doesn’t put hourly limits on its engine coverage. Regardless of how many hours you put on an engine, Encompass takes care of it. Completely. It doesn’t matter where it was bought – or where it is used. Anywhere around the globe, any time of the day or night, you’re fully protected. And now, Cummins distributors all around the world are putting a fleet of QuickServe® trucks on the road to service your needs.

QuickServe is more than just a dream. Cummins QuickServe means faster, better service for Cummins customers all the time, all around the world.
