THE SUSPECTS

Joanna, the maid

James, the gardener

Stanley, Peter, the nephew the chauffeur

THEIR ALIBI Joanna said she had gone to Sussex because of her aunt’s illness. She took the nine o’clock train. James, the gardener, had stayed in his house, because it was his free day. Stanley, Mrs. Sovin’s nephew had been to university because he had a lesson there. Peter, the chauffeur, had gone to the theatre to buy some tickets for poor Mrs. Sovin. Explain how do you think the murder happened, who did it and why. Use past deduction with modal verbs Examples: He/she must have killed Mrs. Sovin because….. He/she could/might/can’t have killed her because….

 EXPLAIN HOW YOU THINK THE MURDER HAPPENED Shortly before midnight on a Sunday, while Mrs. Sovin slept in her room, she was murdered in a sadistic manner, the investigation indicates that the murder was committed with sevice . While Mrs. Sovin rested in her rooms, a person entered to hut her belongings, the lady woke up when she heard a strange noise in her room, when she turned on the lights she was surprised to see a person sniffing between her things, she screamed and said … .. ohhhh ¿what are you doing here?, you shouldn't be home at this time the suspect to be discovered threw himself on the victim producing a blow to the head with a blunt object with which Mrs. Sovin lost consciousness. Then the suspect, thinking that the victim had died, took the opportunity to open the safe with the security code that he had deducted days before, so that he could take everything of value Mrs. Sovin had. This person after committing the theft undertook the flight when she was leaving the room she realized that Mrs. Sovin was still alive, then went to her and took out a knife that she kept in her belt and without a little regret she cut her throat causing her death immediately.  WHO DID IT AND WHY. James the gardener He could have killed Mrs. Sovin as she felt greed for all the things of value she had, in addition she could have felt a grudge against the victim since she had been working for her for many years in which she had received many humiliations, so taking advantage his day of rest and that no one could link him with the robbery because he was not in the place of the facts to carry out his plan without imagining that everything would end so abruptly.
