Description Students work in small groups to discuss each others shoes- what they look like including similarities and differences. differences. Class feedback

Time 5 mins

Lexis presentation

Use flashcards to elicit and teach all target vocabulary. Concept check by using the teacher and students as examples of differences. Drill individually and chorally. Create a board record- mark stress on difficult words.

15 mins

Controlled practice 1

Introduce 5 noun headings- skin, height, eyes, body type and hair. Explain exercise 1 and present an example on the board. Students work individually to complete exercise 1. Students check their answers in pairs and then as a class.

7 mins

Controlled practice 2

Prepare 5 sentences to correspond with the 5 pictures in exercise 2. 7 mins Write the sentences on the board. Students are to match each sentence with the picture and write in the appropriate space. Feedback to check that answers are correct.

Semicontrolled practice 1

Teacher gives each student a picture of a person. Explain that students are going to write 2 or 3 sentences about their person and illustrate an example on the board. Students write 2 or 3 sentences about their person on a piece of paper. Teacher collects all pictures of people and descriptions. Teacher sticks all of the pictures on the board. Groups of 3 students go up to the board. 1 student reads a description and the other 2 students have to find the picture being described. Teacher continues activity as long as he or she feels necessary.

Teacher sticks flashcards on the board. Each flashcard says a different comparative adjective. Teacher re-caps to the class how to form comparative adjectives. Students work in pairs and are provided with 2 different pictures

of people. Students write 5 sentences using target adjectives to compare the 2 pictures they have been given. In pairs, students show their examples on the board. Students write their name on a small piece of paper. 15 mins Teacher collects all names and attaches a name to each student (either on their forehead or their back). Students are to take this person’s identity (although they do not know who they are). Students mingle around the classroom asking questions about their physical appearance in order to find their identity. When a student guesses correctly they sit down. Students are to compare 2 members of their family and friends. 5 mins
