DESCRIPTION OF THE COMMUNITY AND ANALYSIS

Teaching English is given to students a fourth grade course in an audience School located in the city of Municipality of Santander. The group it’s 32 students. Some of them have any level of bad English. It can be said that English is not taught for a specific purpose; however teaching is something that is part of the curriculum. The conditions for teaching English do not have the necessary support to provide adequate teaching. The intensity of the hour is two hours a week only, which indicates that this time is not enough to study the complete content. The contents of English studied are not so complex, say that there is not a good performance due to the few times available to study such content. I believe that the context in which English is taught consists of several irregularities that must be reviewed and resolved. Another feature of the context is about the location, in this sidewalk there are no spaces where the English language is normally spoken, where the student can practice the lessons learned and improve grammar and vocabulary, with this test of grammar I can know the different errors that Students have about structure and writing. Taking into account above lines, the English teaching and learning into the community, it presents a series of needs in methodology and technology order to be resolved.

It is considered that the fourth grade course of the college of Santander has shortcomings and weaknesses in terms of possessing knowledge in the area of English, basic knowledge of such an important language which are necessary to develop adequately in society, a society that every day becomes more demanding and competitive. It is estimated that the problem of learning and acquisition of knowledge in the area of English is largely due to a marked alienation and lack of interest in the subject, is studied simply to meet the requirement of the curriculum, but without any Interest, which is derived from poor didactic implementation and class execution; It is to be recognized that if innovative teaching methodologies and strategies are used that allow the student to learn in a novel way and in relation to the situations of their context, they will have a good attitude towards their learning process; On the contrary, if the appropriate teaching tools and strategies are not used to guide the teachinglearning process of the English language, a passive and ambiguous environment can be generated in the classroom in order to generate new knowledge. This is why it is necessary to implement activities that allow students to practice their language skills and also allows us as teachers to evaluate and analyze the shortcomings that have to be able to combat this great problem of English language learning in this group of 32 students.

Analyzing the circumstances surrounding the fourth grade students of the Institution, we can infer that one of the causes of low level in English language learning may be due to the few hours of instruction received weekly by this group of students. Apparently another cause of low achievement has to do with poor planning and lack of clear objectives in language teaching, we can also see that the institution is in a Social, cultural and linguistic context in which English is barely present or not at all and, therefore, has it generated disinterests to learn from the students. Then it is necessary to know how effective the teaching methods and strategies are, how much and how well they learn English, and to measure qualitatively and quantitatively the effectiveness of evaluative processes. Thus, it is necessary to carry out a research, analysis, systematization of experiences about this problem, since standardized tests should be applied to students to measure the development of communicative skills and English language skills and with these results create a new approach and teaching methodologies to reverse the negative results so far. Other low-level conditioning factors that students present are related to teaching-learning methodology, understood as a set of didactic applications, methods, strategies and practical procedures within the classroom that seek to generate learning, but to achieve all this Institution must possess the necessary spaces and tools to materialize all these goals of improvement at the level of students.

After analyzing and seeing the possible causes of the low level of the students, we must create methodologies of teaching and evaluation that optimize the communicative abilities; In my case, I will design reading activities and tests based on accessible, structured, attractive and easy to use materials in any physical space, which will enhance students' reading ability and thus contribute to improving the level of English learning in the fourth grade of this institution.

We choose a course in fourth grade in a public school located in the town of a municipality in Santander. The group is 32 student, in this sense, I see that the public education is very bad in specially in the English subject, because is a group with enough students and their teachinglearning process is more complicated than private school or in institutes with English courses, where the methodologies, strategies methods approach are different. This is a group of primary school in the public school, here, there aren’t English teachers, one teacher has all the group, the teacher isn’t training for teaching English, and he/ she doesn’t account with materials and a lesson plan, the most of the teachers in primary school have A1 level, their language skills in foreign language are little, for those reasons the class are boring with little significance for the children because the quality of the strategic and didactic instruments that are exposed to the students have great influence on their oral production, grammatical, communicative and written. I considered that the biggest problem is the training and lack skills of the teachers, they aren’t prepared to assume the English subject. In the other hand, the children are 1 and 2 social level and their parents too, is important take into account that the support of parents is very important, parents have level A1 in English too, in this context is hard obtain the best results in some assessment. With this Group, we must implement the adequate training by the teachers in basic skills in foreign language, to implement a method and approach according to the characteristics of group, plan a lessons with good strategic and materials to accomplish the teaching- learning process.
