Assessment Task 2: Presentation planning project Task summary This assessment task requires you to plan a presentation on a topic of your choice. In Assessment Task 3, you will be required to present and evaluate your presentation. This assessment is to be completed in the simulated work environment in the RTO.

Assessment Task 2 Instructions Complete the following activities: 1.

Plan presentation You will need to identify a presentation topic to conduct a presentation of approximately 15 minutes. Review the information below to assist you in choosing a presentation topic. As you will have to provide a presentation of 15 minutes, you should make sure that you will be able to access enough information and prepare sufficient material for your presentation.

Presentation topic Choose one of the following: Occupation of interest Your presentation could focus on an occupation that is of interest to you and that a student studying your course could pursue following the completion of their course. Your presentation should include a range of information about the occupation/s. For example, key roles and responsibilities, key skills required to complete the job, job outlook both in Australia and overseas, training required and average salaries. Topic of interest Your presentation could focus on a topic that you are studying in your course and that is of particular interest to you. Your presentation should address key concepts related to the topic. For example, if you are studying marketing, your topic could be the effectiveness of digital marketing and include a range of information about its purpose, contrast with other forms of marketing and statistics about its effectiveness. Similarly, if you are studying human resources, you may choose to develop a presentation about the use of social media for recruitment.

Once you have chosen your presentation topic, review the information in Presentation Requirements. Use the Presentation Plan Template to guide your work. ANSWER 1.

I will set a ‘U’ shaped sitting formation. This allows me to interact with all audiences. I will discuss the topic together and ask for real experience.

Planned presentation opener to engage audience interest What will be your presentation opener?

Give an example of how a small work injury can lead to huge losses and injuries to the involved persons.

Planned techniques to ensure continuing audience interest What techniques will you use to maintain audience interest?

Ask questions to the audience. Engage them by asking for their views. Involving them in giving additional points from their own point of view.

Persuasive communication techniques. What persuasive communication techniques will you use to ensure audience interest?

Captivate audience attention by showing them the presentation id worth their time. Convey the benefits of the presentation to them as individuals and the organisation they work for at large.

Briefing others on roles and responsibilities within the presentation. For example, state the information that will be provided to person’s assisting with the presentation e.g. presentation helper will have the role and responsibility to hand out materials.

Passing around the handouts. Passing the microphone to people giving their view on the topic. Assisting with the presentation equipment.

How will presentation be evaluated? Explain the two techniques that you have identified that you will use to evaluate the presentation. Outline the documentation e.g. survey you will use to evaluate the presentation according to the identified techniques.

Performance feedback questionnaires. This will help me evaluate if the points of discussion in the presentation suited everyone and I they learnt what the presentation was all about. Survey of the work place risk levels before and after the presentation. This will help in evaluating if the audience out into practice what was discussed in the presentation.

Send an email to your assessor. The text of the email should be in grammatically correct English, written in an appropriate (polite, business-like) style. It should introduce and summarise the contents of the attachment, seek their feedback and Ask for them for the place, date and time of your presentation. The email text should also ask about what equipment will be available, and whether there are any other considerations that you should make while preparing for your presentation. Attach your completed Presentation Plan Template to the email.

Write an evaluation plan. Write a short (about half a page) report on how you will evaluate the effectiveness of your presentation. You should choose two techniques that can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of your presentation and then prepare the associated documents. For example, if you choose to

develop a survey you will need to develop a short questionnaire that you can provide to participants after the presentation. The purpose of the evaluation is to seek feedback on participants’ understanding of the ideas and concepts you presented, as well as their ideas on how you can improve your performance. If your evaluation methods include hard copy questionnaires or similar, ensure that enough copies of these are printed out and brought to your presentation. ANSWER 6. EVALAUTION PLAN. INTRODUCTION. The evaluation plan was to be used to assess whether the audience of my presentation understood and learned something from it. A questionnaire would be used to look into how the presentation was received by the audience. The questionnaire will have open end questions and other range related questions to better show how the audience learned about the presentation. PROJECT PURPOSE. The aim of the project was to educate the workers of the safety required in the work place and the risks that could occur. Curbing the risk and also knowing what the employer liability is in providing suitable environment to work in will also be discussed. METHODOLOGY. The method I will use to evaluate how well the audience understood my presentation, I will provide a questionnaire at the end of the presentation. This will be answered and anonymity will be kept to ensure that the audience are sincere in their answers. Questionnaire.
