DIALOGUE

Sheriff: Court is now in session, everybody stand up, the judge Lance Ito has arrived. *waits for judge* now you may sit down Judge: Good morning to everybody, we’re gathered here today to discuss the case number 1521 the people v OJ Simpson, referring to the double murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, first let’s hear the statements of the people and the defense Marcia: Ladies and gentlemen, to discuss this crime, you must first understand Mr. Simpson's relationship to his ex-wife, Nicole, it was a ticking time bomb, the fuse was lit in 1985, the very year they were married, officers responded after Mr. Simpson beat Nicole and took a baseball bat to her Mercedes, then in 1989, Nicole had to call 911 again, fearing for her life, when officers arrived, Nicole ran towards them, yelling, "He's going to kill me" She had a black eye, a cut forehead, a swollen cheek, in her torn bra, Nicole pleaded with the officers, "You've come up here eight times, you never do anything about him" and they will want to tell you that the police conspired against Mr. Simpson, surely with the case about the "N" word, but this case is about O.J. Simpson and the "M" word, "murder" I'm not afraid to point to him and say he did it *points at O.J.* Why not? The evidence will point to him. In February 1992, Nicole filed for divorce, she was running away from the man who said he'd kill her, she saw the explosion coming, why else fill a safe-deposit box with threatening letters from the defendant, a will and police photos of past beatings? She knew that the bomb could go off at any second, and then it did, on June 12, 1994, when he went to Nicole´s house and he stabbed Nicole and Ron until they

were dead. He's a murderer, but he wasn’t intelligent enough ‘cause he left a glove proving that besides he was one hell of a great football player, he still a murderer. Robert: At the outset let me say that not one bit of domestic violence is tolerable. O.J. Simpson is not proud of some of the things that happened during his marriage. Does that add up to murder? No. Mrs. Darden talked about 1985, but he missed the whole point, something interesting happened in 1985, Maris Fuhrman responded to a call on Rockingham, she saw a white woman married to a powerful black man, she didn't like that, 'cause she's a hardened racist, Maris Fuhrman is the one who said, "If I see an interracial couple, I'm gonna stop them. If I don't have a reason, I'm gonna make something up" So you have a lying Mark Fuhrman, the personification of evil, who found the gloves, but don't be fooled, this isn't just one officer, Maria Fuhrman represents the entire LAPD, Simpson will try on the glove and the glove won't fit, so ladies and gentlemen, remember these words: if it doesn't fit, you must acquit. Judge: Ok then, let’s begin, the people who’s going to call as your witness? Marcia: as our witness, we would like to call Kris Jenner to the stand *Kris Jenner comes in* Judge: Mrs Jenner, do you swear say the truth and only the truth while you´re on the stand? Kriss: yes, I swear Marcia: Hello Mrs Jenner, can you tell us your approach with the victim Nicole Brown? Kris: She was one of my best friends in the whole world since we we’re in high school Marcia: So you got together sometimes right? In your house and hers? Kris: Yes Marcia: Did you ever got together with Nicole when she and Mr Simpson were married? Kris: Yes, several times Marcia: What did you usually do when you got together? Robert: Objection, your honor, this interrogatory is irrelevant to the case, we’re not here to talk about the social life of Kris Jenner, we’re here to... Judge: Mr Shapiro, let’s hear the interrogatory, Mrs Jenner answer the question Kris: they usually came to my house and eat some pizza and drink Marcia: Drink what? Kris: Any bottle of alcohol that we may have at that moment

Marcia: OK, and how was the defendant with Nicole when he drank? Kris: there was one time, that O.J. drank a lot and he grabbed Nicole's crotch and he said, "This is where babies come from and this belongs to me" Nicole just acted like like it was normal, like she was used to that kind of treatment. Shapiro: Objection, calls for speculation Judge: Overruled *Kris starts weeping* Marcia: was he angry? Kris: No, that's just the kind of person he was, *sniffs* he wanted everyone to know that she was his property. *Starts crying a lot* Marcia: No Further questions *Kris Jenner leaves* Judge: let’s take some recess and we come back in 45 minutes *45 minutes later* Sheriff: Everybody stand up, the judge Lance Ito has arrived. *waits for judge* now you may sit down Judge: ok, so what’s next for the defense? Johnnie: we would like to call the detective Maria Fuhrman for the next interrogation *Maria Fuhrman comes in* Judge: detective, do you swear say the truth and only the truth while you´re on the stand? Maria: yes, I swear Johnnie: Hello detective, were you the one in charge when the police came to Nicole’s house when she was murdered right? Maria: Yes, I was Johnnie: well, with all the evidence that you found that night, which one was examined and showed that it belonged to the defendant? Maria: We found a glove that showed DNA from OJ Johnnie: Detective, in regards to taking this supposed Mr. Simpson's glove, you did not book them into evidence that night. Is that correct? Marcia: There’s no record of that your honor

Judge: Sustained Maria: That night I couldn't have, no Johnnie: What did you do with them? Where were they until you booked 'em into evidence the next day? Maria: Em… I put them in the trunk of my car. Johnnie: So you took them home with you? Maria: I did *seems anxious* Detective, where exactly do you live? Maria: Simi Valley Johnnie: Really? So you took this evidence home to Simi Valley? The home of the officers involved in the Rodney King beating while those officers screamed at him the “N” word Maria: *screams nervously* Yes yes, I know, but I have been in the police for 28 years and 18 years as a detective. I didn’t have anything to do about the beating of that nigger for god sake *Everybody surprises* Judge: Silence! Everybody! Johnnie: So let's be clear, in all your years as a detective, this is the only instance that you took evidence from a crime scene, you put it in your car, and you drove it home and didn't book it until the next day? Maria: *breathes slowly* that’s correct Johnnie: That’s all, your honor *Maria leaves* Christine: Your Honor, I'd like to address something about this interrogation Judge: Go ahead Christine: *Stands up* Your Honor, Mr. Cochran is asking him about completely irrelevant statements that people have claimed he's made, these statements are racially insensitive and divisive. There's no legal purpose for it. The purpose of this is just to inflame the passions of the jury and ask them to pick sides, The "N" word is a dirty, filthy word, Your Honor. It is so prejudicial and inflammatory that the use of it in any situation will evoke an emotional response from any African-American.

Johnnie: Your honor, Mr. Darden's comments this afternoon are perhaps the most incredible remarks I've heard in a court of law in my 32 years of practice, these comments are deeply demeaning to African-Americans. And so, first and foremost, Your Honor, I would like to apologize to African-Americans across this country. Christine: Objection! Your honor, that’s not what I was trying to say Judge: Sustained. Johnnie: It is preposterous to say that African-Americans collectively are so emotionally unstable that they cannot hear offensive words without losing their moral sense of right and wrong. They live with offensive words, offensive looks, and offensive treatment every day. And so, for a friend that I deeply respect, I would say this was outlandish, unfortunate and unwarranted. Thank you, Your Honor. *Everybody starts talking with themselves* Judge: Quiet! Quiet! Christine: Your Honor, at this time, the People would ask that Mr. Simpson step forward and try on the gloves recovered from Bundy and Rockingham Shapiro: We have no objection *OJ tries on the glove* OJ: This glove is too small, too tight, doesn’t fit Christine: Can Mr. Simpson please straighten his fingers? Can we ask that he make a fist? With his right hand. Can we ask that he grasp an object with his hand? A marker, perhaps? Shapiro: Objection, your honor Judge: Sustained Christine: Well… I have nothing further Judge: Now, Mr. Shapiro is my understanding that you have discussed with your client his right to testify. Robert: Yes, Your Honor, Mr. Simpson is waiving his right. But if the court pleases, he would like to make a brief statement regarding the waiver. Marcia: Your honor, the People object to the defendant making any statement other than the waiver at this time. Judge: Counsel, he's not before the jury Marcia: Yes, but we are all aware of the realities of this case, the problem with conjugal visits and telephone calls that are only monitored on one side. This is an obvious attempt

by the defense to get material to the jury that has not been admitted in court. It is inappropriate and deliberate. I strongly urge the court to exercise control and not permit testimony without cross-examination. Please, Your Honor, don't do this. Robert: My goodness, there's a great deal of fear of the truth in this case. Your Honor, this is still America, can we still talk? Judge: All right, go ahead, Mr. Simpson, briefly. OJ: Good morning, Your Honor, as much as I'd like to address some of the misrepresentations made about myself and my Nicole, concerning our life together, I am mindful of the mood and the stamina of this jury. I am confident a lot more, it seems, than Miss Clark about their integrity, and that they will find, as it now stands, that I did not and could not and would not commit this crime. I have four kids, two kids I haven't seen in a year and every week, they ask me, "Dad, when are you coming home? - How much longer?" *Marcia clears throat* Judge: All right OJ: I just want this trial to be over Judge: All right, thank you, Mr. Simpson OJ: Thank you, your honor Marcia: You want to address misrepresentations about you and Nicole, take a seat in the blue chair, and we can have a discussion. Judge: Ok, now, anything else to end? Marcia: Good morning jury Jury: Good morning Christine: Jury, we are coming close to the end, I promise and I want you all to know how much I appreciate what you're doing here For justice And to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the incredible sacrifices that you've made. Thank you. I would like to begin by first addressing the issue of Maria Fuhrman. Just to be clear, is he a racist? Yes. Is he the worst LAPD has to offer? Yes. Should LAPD ever have hired him? No. Should such a person be a police officer? No. In fact, do we wish there were no such person on the planet? Yes. But the fact that Maria Fuhrman is a racist and lied about it on the witness stand does not mean that we haven't proven that the defendant is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and it would be a tragedy if O.J. Simpson were found not guilty because of the racist attitudes of one police officer. There is an ocean of evidence that has been unchallenged by the defense in an attempt to distract you from it, they took you through a twisted road, one

moment saying the police are bumbling idiots, the next moment saying the police are cunning conspirators, they threw out alternate theories, hoping one would stick, but instead of focusing on those distractions, I ask you to consider the evidence the defense did not, and cannot, refute, everything it has Nicole's blood, it has Ron's blood and it has the defendant's blood. The gloves are extra-large, the defendant's size, when limo driver Allan Park arrived, there was no Bronco out front, when he left with the defendant, there was now a Bronco parked outside, a drop of blood in the Bundy driveway matches the defendant at a rate of one-in-170-million. This tests were a match at the rate of one-in-57 billion, there are only five billion people on the planet. That, ladies and gentlemen, is an identification, when the defendant was informed of his wife's death, he did not ask how she died, think about that, he did not ask how she died, and then ask yourself, "Why?" Judge: Now let the jury decide the verdict *Everybody leaves except the jury* Jury1: Okay. I've never even been on a jury before, so if any of you have suggestions, I'm open to hearing them Jury2: Why not take a vote? Jury1: Already? Jury2: I mean, just to get a sense of the room Jury345: yeah, that’s good, fine for me Jury2: Um, but the instructions say that the voting should be done in secret, so nobody feels uncomfortable Jury1: So, uh, why don't we just do paper ballots? Just write "guilty" or "not guilty Jury5: Ok *Everybody writes* Jury2: Do I have everybody? All right, I’ll read it: not guilty, not guilty, not guilty, guilty and… not guilty. So the tally is… Jury3: It all seems very clear, we all know math *Everybody stares at everybody* Jury1: Okay, I'll just say it, I voted guilty, I mean, look at all the evidence, there is just so much, and what about all the facts that the defense didn't even bother to address? I mean, just that alone… Jury2: Why wasn't there more blood in the Bronco? There was so much blood at the scene, I'd make more of a mess in my car if I spilt a milkshake.

Jury3: Goldman had injuries on his hands, like he was defending himself, why didn't O.J. have any marks on him? Jury1: What about the cut on his hand? Jury2: The gloves did not fit Jury1: Oh, now, they did kind of fit, looked to me like O.J. was just trying to not make 'em fit Jury3: Shouldn't there have been more blood around the glove they found at O.J.'s house? And wouldn't there be blood on the leaves? Jury2: Too much strange stuff going on in the thing, you will never convince me that he did it without a doubt Jury1: All right, all right, look, you might think he didn’t do it, hell, I might think he did it, but can we honestly sit here and say they proved it? Jury2: I will never, ever think they proved it Jury3: Never Jury4: Never Jury5: Never ever *Sheriff looks for the rest of the people to get in* *Everybody sits* Judge: Thank you, may the record reflect we've now been rejoined by all the members of our jury panel and our alternates. Madam Foreperson, would you please open the envelope and check the condition of those verdict forms? Are they in order? Jury2: Yes, your honor Judge: Mr. Simpson, would you please stand and face the jury? *OJ stands up* Jury2: Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles in the matter of People of the State of California versus Orenthal James Simpson, case number 1521, we the jury in the above-entitled action find the defendant Orenja Orenthal James Simpson "not guilty” of the crime of murder in violation of penal code section 187(A), a felony, upon Nicole Brown Simpson, a human being, as charged in count one of the information. We the jury in the above-entitled action find the defendant Orenthal James Simpson not guilty of the crime of murder in violation of penal code section 187(A), a felony upon Ronald Lyle Goldman, a human being, as charged in count two of the information.

Judge: All right, thank you. This case has end now everybody can go.
