2 170g/6oz balls (each approx 108yd/97m) of Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in #149 charcoal (A) and #139 cranberry (B) • One pair each sizes 11 and 13 (8mm and 9mm) needles or size to obtain gauge • Size 11 (8mm) circular needle, 24"/ 60cm long • One set (4) dpn size 11 (8mm) • Tapestry needle • Stitch holder • Bobbins •

GAUGE

11 sts and 12 rows to 4"/10cm over St st and chart pat using larger needles. Take time to check gauge. www.vogueknitting.com

With smaller needles and A, beg at neck and cast on 43 sts. Row 1 (RS) K1, *k1, p1; rep from * to last st, k1. Row 2 K1, *p1, k1; rep from * to end. Rep last 2 rows until piece measures 5"/12.5cm from beg, end with a WS row. Change to larger needles. Work in St st and chart pat, inc 1 st each side (working inc sts into pat) on next row, then every row 4 times more—53 sts. Work even until piece measures 8"/20.5cm from beg.
