Studying English at ICPNA and at San Marcos University I. - INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH TOPIC SENTENCE: While there are some similarities between studying English at Icpna School and at San Marcos University, some areas are different. The most notorious similarity between studying English at ICPNA School and at San Marcos University is the classroom setting; however, class attendance, grading system and students’ interaction set them apart. II. - BODY A. - The most important similarity between studying English at ICPNA School and at San Marcos University is the classroom setting. 1. - One teacher per classroom - Typical teacher 2. - School supplies and teaching material - American book B. - As you can see, the obvious similarities between studying English at ICPNA School and at San Marcos University are easy to observe; however, these two schools differ in three important areas such are class attendance, grading system and students’ interaction. C. - The first difference between studying English at ICPNA School and at San Marcos University is class attendance. 1. - Attend classes from Monday to Friday - The teachers call the roll 2. - At University, students attend classes three times a week - Not very strict on students’ attendance and punctuality D. - In addition to class attendance, a second different between studying English at ICPNA School or San Marcos University is the grading system 1. - Students’ grades are based on their class participation - Students’ participation and production is 70% of the grade 2. - At San Marcos, they pay most attention to students’ quizzes and written exam results. - San Marcos School pays more attention to quiz results. III. - CONCLUDING PARAGRAPH All in all, despite the similarities, studying English at ICPNA and taking an English class at San Marcos University differ in many different ways. La similitud más notoria entre estudiar inglés en la escuela ICPNA y en la Universidad de San Marcos es el entorno del aula; sin embargo, la asistencia a clase, el sistema de calificaciones y la interacción de los estudiantes los diferencian. II. - CUERPO A.- La similitud más importante entre estudiar inglés en la escuela ICPNA y en la Universidad de San Marcos es el entorno del salón de clases. 1.- Un maestro por aula - Profesor típico 2.- Material escolar y material didáctico - Libro americano B. - Como puede ver, las similitudes obvias entre estudiar inglés en la escuela ICPNA y en la Universidad de San Marcos son fáciles de observar; sin embargo, estas dos escuelas difieren en tres áreas importantes, como la asistencia a clase, el sistema de calificaciones y la interacción de los alumnos. C.- La primera diferencia entre estudiar inglés en la escuela ICPNA y en la Universidad de San Marcos es la asistencia a clase. 1. - Asiste a clases de lunes a viernes - Los maestros llaman al rollo 2.- En la Universidad de San Marcos, los estudiantes asisten a clases tres veces por semana - No muy estricto sobre la asistencia y la puntualidad de los estudiantes D. - Además de la asistencia a clase, una segunda diferencia entre estudiar inglés en ICPNA School o San Marcos University es el sistema de calificación. 1.- Las calificaciones de los estudiantes se basan en su participación en clase - La participación y producción de los alumnos es del 70% del grado 2.- En San Marcos, prestan más atención a las pruebas de los estudiantes y los resultados del examen escrito. - La escuela San Marcos presta más atención a los resultados de la prueba.

E.- Además de la asistencia a clase y el sistema de calificación, la diferencia final entre estudiar inglés en ICPNA School y San Marcos University es la interacción de los estudiantes. 1.- En la Universidad de San Marcos, la interacción se compone principalmente de docentes y estudiantes. - El profesor explica la lección. 2. - Escuela de idiomas ICPNA, hay interacción de estudiante a estudiante - Siempre hay trabajo en grupo y en pareja III. - PÁRRAFO DE CONCLUSIÓN Con todo, a pesar de las similitudes, estudiar inglés en ICPNA y tomar una clase de inglés en la Universidad de San Marcos difieren de muchas maneras.

In addition, both schools have several students in each classroom. Both ICPNA and San Marcos University use school supplies and teaching material like books, notebooks, pen and pencils. For example, I use an American English book to study English at SMU; at ICPNA, I use an American book, too. As you can see, the obvious similarities between studying English at ICPNA School and at San Marcos University are easy to observe; however, these two schools differ in three important areas such are class attendance, grading system and students’ interaction. The first difference between studying English at ICPNA School and at San Marcos University is class attendance. At ICPNA, it is mandatory to attend classes from Monday to Friday. The teachers call the roll the first five minutes of classes and take notes on students’ tardiness and absences. On the other hand, at San Marcos University, students attend classes three times a week or less. In addition, teachers are not very strict on students’ attendance and punctuality. What is more, some teachers do not even call the roll sometimes. In addition to class attendance, a second different between studying English at ICPNA School or San Marcos University is the grading system. While at ICPNA students’ grades are based on their class participation, at San Marcos, they pay most attention to students’ quizzes and written exam results. For example, at ICPNA School, students’ participation and production is 70% of the grade while at San Marcos University students’ quizzes and final exams make up around 70% of their grades. Compared to the 30% of the percentage of the final exam at ICPNA, San Marcos school clearly pays more attention to quiz results. Besides class attendance and the grading system, a final difference between studying English at ICPNA School and San Marcos University is the students’ interaction. At San Marcos University, the interaction mainly consists of teacher and students. The teacher explains the lesson. Then students do some exercises and report their answers to the teacher or the class. On the other hand, at ICPNA language school, pair and group work done in class and the classes are student centered. All in all, despite the similarities, studying English at ICPNA and taking an English class at San Marcos University differ in many different ways. So next time you have the

opportunity and the means to study English, consider doing it at a school that specializes in the teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL) such as ICPNA. Besides the courses and the schedule, a final difference between studying a career at an Institute and University is the duration of the career. At University, you finish the career in five years. The duration of this career is because it offers general courses and career

courses. Then, after you finish your career, you will have several job offers based on your career. On the other hand, at Institute, you finish the career in a short time, usually it's three years. The career has this duration for the career courses that it offers.

All in all, despite the similarities, studying a career at Institute and at University differ in many different ways. So the next time you have the opportunity and the means to study a career, consider doing it at a school that awards you a professional degree certificate, such as the university.
