7.08) Assignment: Writing Dialogue Imagine your two characters are meeting for the first time and they are getting to know each other. They must find out how old they are, where they live, and what their hobbies are. At the end, the characters will have to have a conversation about their weekend plans, and make plans to see each other again.

“Hello.” said Ginger to the girl who was sitting alone in the bench, reading a book. “You moved here in Dixie Town yesterday, right? I’m the girl next door.” She reached her hand. “Pleased to meet you, I’m Ginger.” The girl glared at Ginger over her book. Finally, she looked again at the printed words. “Leave me alone. We cannot be friends,” said rudely the girl. “I won’t leave until you tell me your name,” said Ginger trying to sound convincing; her arms crossed. The other girl sighed. “I’m November Deep-in-Sorrow Lovelace, satisfied?” “Are you kidding me?” “You wanted to know my name, isn’t it?” “I wanted to know your real name!” “That’s my real name.” “And what about that deep in whatever, huh?” “Deep-in-Sorrow. Yeah, it’s my middle name.” Ginger stared at November, smiling. She started to laugh, at the beginning it was a soft laugher, then it became hysterical. Ginger’s face turned as red as her own hair. She pressed her stomach like it ached. November frowned. “Hey, what’s so funny!” “You… Y-you…” Ginger waited a minute till the laugh have stopped. “You’re so freaky, November,” she said softly, gazing at the violet sky. “And I like it”. “I said that we can’t be friends,” she said with a sad tone, looking away. “Why?” “Because I’m a vampire.” Ginger tilted her head and raised an eyebrow. In fact, November looked like she had come from a Tim Burton’s film and, also, she acted like one of its strange characters. Ginger decided to go along with the daydreamer girl. “Oh… Really? So, how old are you? You seem a twelve-years-old girl, like me.” “I’m two centuries old, but, yeah… I look like the day in which I was bitten. You know… vampires don’t grow old.” “And what about your parents? They know something about the actual situation?” Ginger was very curious about November’s response. “They adopted me one year ago, so they think I’m a normal girl.” November was scratching the cover of her book while she talked. Ginger realized that the girl was uncomfortable talking about their parents; so, she changed the subject. “So… What are your hobbies, November? Besides sucking people’s blood,” asked with a soft laugh.

“I love to read,” she responded shyly, pressing the book against her lap. “Which book is it?” Ginger pointed the title, Rhymes and Legends. “It’s a book about horror stories.” “Sounds good, but I prefer watching horror movies. There’s a good cinema in front of the town hall. I go every week. If you don’t have plans for the weekend, we can go together.” “You really mean that? I don’t scare you?” “Not at all, but you must promise me not to suck my blood during the projection.” “I promise!” pressing her book with force. “Ok, so. Next Saturday in front of the movies at quarter past nine.” “Terrific.” “Grate! Good-bye, November. I must go home, it’s late.” Ginger stood up and reached her hand. The girl hesitated, but she ended by shaking hands. “Good-bye, Ginger.”
