WET PROCESSING REACTIVE PRINTING FINAL PRESENTATION

PRESENTED BY: ERAJ SIDDIQUI LAIBA ATTA RAHEELA SIDRA AZIZ UMME AIMAN SUBMITTED TO: SIR IMRAN RAZA DEPARTMENT: TDT – 3A COURSE: WET PROCESSING 1

TEXTILE PRINTING INTRODUCTION: The localized application of dyes or pigment and chemical by any method, which can produce effect of color on the fabric according to the pattern or design is known as printing. It can be thought of as the coloring technique that combines art, engineering, and dyeing technology to produce textile product.

REACTIVE PRINTING INTRODUCTION: The printing process by which application of color or dye to fabric in a definite design or pattern is done with the help of reactive dye is called reactive printing. we can use this process on most natural textiles, specifically natural or protein fibers such as silk, cotton, wool, cashmere, linen, hemp and so on. Reactive printing does not suit poly-based or synthetic fabrics. 2

REACTIVE DYE INTRODUCTION: •Reactive dyes are a class of colored chemicals that attach to textile fibers via a chemical reaction that forms a covalent bond. Reactive dyes are the most permanent of all dye types and are the most common type of dye used. Reactive dyes are cationic dyes, which are used for dyeing cellulosic & Proteinic fibers.

REACTIVE DYE CONSISTS OF 3 PARTS:

1- The chromogen or the chromophoric part, which contributes color to the dye. 2-The reactive system, which enables the dye to react with the substrate. 3-The solubilizing group(s) attached to the chromophoric grouping confers water solubility to the dye. 3

CHEMICALS USED IN PRINTING PASTE

RECIPE ➢Reactive Dye. ➢Water.

➢ Sodium hexa meta-phosphate is used as sequestering agent. ➢ Sodium alginate is used as ➢Sodium Alginate. thickener. ➢Urea. ➢ Sodium bicarbonate is used as ➢Sodium Hexa Meta-Phosphate. soda. Ecaltex pol is used as printing oil. ➢Ecaltex Pol. ➢ Kollasol CDA is used as de➢Kollasol CDA . foaming agent.

4

PREPARATION OF PRINTING PASTE 1) At first, we take required amount of dye stuffs in a bath. 2) Then little amount of water is added into the bath for mixing these dyes and start stirring for mixing the dye. 3) After then required amount of thickener is added.

4) Then required amount of urea is added into the dye bath.

PRE-CAUTION: 1-We must maintain the viscosity of print paste. 2- We must apply even pressure on squeezer for even printing.

5) After then other chemical auxiliaries are added.

6) Then continuous stirring is done for few minutes for mixing all the ingredients of print paste.

REACTIVE PRINTING PROCESS

PRETREATMENT (Singeing, Desizing, Scouring, Bleaching, Mercerization)

PRINTING (with seq. agent, Alkali, dyes, Glycerin, Thickener)

AFTERTREATMENT (Fixation of the printed dye, Drying, Washing)

6

AFTER-TREATMENT: STEAMING: The dried printed fabric has dyes, thickeners such as starch, gum etc. and printing auxiliaries on its surface. And to remove all these printed fabric is put for Steaming in a cottage steamer for 5-10 minutes. As soon as steaming is done the fabric has to be dried. kn

m

WASHING: The printed fabric is washed with cold water for removing remaining unfixed dye and exhausted thickener on fabric and then dried. K

FINISHING: g Finishing is done to control & improve the appearance , handle and performance of the printed fabric . mn

7

CHARACTERISTICS: REACTIVE PRINTING PRODUCES HIGH QUALITY, LONG LASTING PRINTS & DESIGN .

IT HAS WIDE COLOR RANGE. HIGH LEVELING QUALITY.

GOOD RUBBING FASTNESS. GOOD WASHING FASTNESS. GOOD LIGHT FASTNESS. LOW TEMPERATURE DYEING. LOWER COST. 8

CONCLUSION: Reactive Printing has excellent build up property and maximum fixation. reactive printing is the perfect choice when printing natural and protein fibers. The highly effective process binding the fiber and dye together to create a print that will last the life of the garment. No matter how complex and colorful your design is, reactive printing is the ideal option to print natural fabrics.
