Ticket office? I didn't know you have to pay to get in. The restaurant on the roof garden of the Gallery is excellent. I've eaten there myself many times. And it's not very expensive. Hello, Madam. Yes, get the number nine bus from across the street and get off at the end of Main Street. It's only a couple of stops. Don't mention it. It's my job, after all. Goodbye. Excuse me, can you tell me which bus I should take to get to the National Gallery? Thank you very much. That was very helpful. I see. Nothing is safe these days. I was wondering if there is somewhere good we can go for lunch. Right. And do you know what time the Gallery opens? You don't, it's free, but you have to pass through security and then they give you a ticket. Yes. It opens at ten o'clock but get there early because you may have to wait in line for the ticket office to open.

Helen: Anne:

Look at you, Anne, how brown you are! Did you have a good time on holiday? Yes, it was great. You went to Greece, didn't you? Yes. We spent ten days touring around some of the islands and then we spent three days in Athens. Athens! What was that like? Actually it was very good. We stayed in a very luxurious hotel in a quiet street near the centre. It had the most spectacular view of the Acropolis. I could lie in my bed at night and see it all lit up. It was lovely. What was the food like? It was delicious. We were staying in Plaka – that’s the famous part that most tourists visit – and there were so many restaurants to choose from that we tried somewhere new for every meal. We didn't have even one bad experience. My favourite was a seafood place and I had the most amazing fish. I've heard that it's not as safe there as it used to be. Is that true? Nothing bad happened to us so I can't really say. Everybody was very friendly and it felt very safe. Maybe because we saw quite a lot of police around the place.

Apart from eating, what else did you do? We went up to the Acropolis, of course, although it was a bit hot and then we went to the Acropolis Museum. It's only been open for a few years and it was fascinating. We also went shopping. I bought quite a lot of things: some shoes and a lovely leather bag, some pretty painted coffee cups for my mum and dad, a big box of tasty honey sweets for my grandfather and earrings for my sisters. You sound like that was the best bit! I enjoyed the whole holiday but my favourite part was lying on the beach, sunbathing and swimming. The sea is very warm and the most amazing blue colour. When you see the postcards, you think that the sea can't really be that colour, but it is. You should go next year, you'd love it. I'll send you the name of the hotel  it was excellent. Maybe I will!
