The Passive voice is used when

La voz pasiva se utiliza cuando

1. you want to emphasize the object of the sentence e.g. His umbrella was taken away by his sister this morning.

1. desea hacer hincapié en el objeto de la oración por ejemplo Su paraguas fue llevado por su hermana esta mañana.

2. the doer of an action is unknown e.g. The tree was cut down yesterday
