Motivation Letter The 21st century is lately seeing a widespread development boom in the construction industry with rising quantity of high-rise buildings. However, the increasing demand of expansion, economic progress of the world, and increased CO2 emissions have deeply shaken the stakeholders and scientists. Recently, it is considered essential to use the environmentally friendly construction materials and exploit the renewable energy resources. Being an engineer and environmental enthusiast, I always desired to contribute in the field of renewable energy. I studied Bachelors of Electrical Engineering at University of Engineering and Technology Taxila with Electrical Power major and cgpa 3.28/4. I received Prime Minister ICT scholarship in Bachelors for four years. After Bachelors, I got scholarship for Masters Studies of Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an, and China. I majored in Masters Degree with focus on the integration of heat transfer and solar energy. I worked on the title “Renewable Energy Production Using Wind Turbine and Induction Generator” in Bachelors thesis. The novel dynamic analysis of wind turbine and induction generator using MATLAB (Simulink) was carried out. The mathematical model of the mechanical output of wind turbine was simulated and checked by varying different impact parameters i.e. coefficient of performance, speed of air, density of specific medium, blade length etc. Moreover, the feasibility of this model was verified by using self-excited induction generator as distributed generator including core losses. However, in Master degree, my supervisor was keen on analyzing the relation of photovoltaic (PV) panels and the building envelope. Therefore, I diverted my research field to thermodynamics and heat transfer specifically on improving the thermal comfort and reducing the cooling energy demands of the buildings by injecting PV panels in the buildings. My thesis title in Master’s degree was “Experimental investigation of Indoor Thermal Comfort Variation by the Rooftop Application of Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV)”. This research was based on investigation the seasonal behavior change of external, soil layer, rooftop and interior room temperature comfort with respect to various construction materials, and with and without Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV). The embodied energy and embodied CO2 of five construction materials i.e. glass, PVC, cement, aluminum and mud brick was estimated in the boundary condition of cradle to gate. The two models were simulated; Photovoltaic Greenhouse and other solar model house. The photovoltaic panels were laid on rooftop of PV Greenhouse located in Xining,China in three different orientations including 30% and 60% from top to bottom and 60% in the middle of rooftop. In solar model house simulated for Xi’an, China, the PV panels were also laid on rooftop of the model house. The simulated results of two models clearly show a satisfactory efficiency ratio of 3.42%. The future prospects of this project are meant to provide a better insight about the injection of BIPV in the existing structures with the application of building energy conservation and emission reduction. My future research interest lies in further investigation of relation of the factors such as wind, humidity, shading effect of adjacent buildings with thermal comfort to achieve optimum performance and reduce cooling energy demands through BIPV. Moreover, the tilt orientation of BIPV also needs to be adjusted for maximum electrical power production and air gap also plays crucial role in regulating the thermal comfort of

Apart from my studies, I have always participated in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. I remained member of several technical and welfare societies such as IEEE UET Taxila Branch, Environment Protection Society (EPS), University Arts and Sports Club (UASC) and WWF Pakistan. I represented the official hockey team in college and university and was the captain of Electrical department Hockey team in university. I was the President of Kandhawa welfare society which was involved in raising funds and provision of free trees to public and private institutions. I participated in several Model United Nations (MUN) conferences as delegate and won several awards such as Outstanding Delegate and Most Popular Delegate. I also presided 3 MUN conferences as Chair and DAIS member. I was international ambassador of Northwestern Polytechnical University from 2017-2018. After comprehensive analysis of my skills and knowledge, I have decided to pursue my Ph.D. studies in China. The relation between China and Pakistan is often described as “Sweeter than honey, higher than Himalayas, and deeper than oceans” which I also believe in. Technically, the advancement and progress of China in technology is growing rapidly as compared to other countries. China is investing heavily in the field of renewable energy and is considered as biggest shareholder in field of clean energy. In addition, pursuing my Doctoral studies in China will ensure a better chance to enhance my skills under expert supervisors. China, at present, is a heaven for higher studies for international students and through this channel I can meet people from various cultures and fields of life. These are some of the key reasons that persuade and urge me to continue my Ph.D. studies in China. I am committed, dedicated and hardworking student and can cope with any working environment. I have good communication skills as I have 7Bands in IELTS exam and already passed Chinese language proficiency certificate HSK 4. I hope I will play an effective role being a part of this prestigious institution.
