COCKPIT PRESENTATION (1) General

L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM25P1000000001

The cockpit, installed in a mezzanine location, includes cockpit panels and workstations. There are two workstations available: the Onboard Information Terminal (OIT), which is mainly designed for the captain and the first officer, and the Onboard Maintenance Terminal (OMT), generally used by the maintenance crews. The cockpit has two pilot seats and two observer seats. A fifth occupant seat is available as an option.

L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM25P1000000001

The Onboard Maintenance Terminal (OMT) and Onboard Information Terminal (OIT) workstations are used for flight and maintenance operations without the need of onboard paper documentation for take-off, landing, cruise performance computation, weight & balance computation, and for the logbook entries. They also give access to operational documentation, maintenance documentation, and navigation, approach and airport charts.

L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM25P1000000001

The cockpit has basically four seats, a Captain seat, a First Officer seat, a third occupant seat and a fourth occupant seat. A fifth occupant seat is available as an option. The Captain and First Officer seats are symmetrical and have both electrical and manual controls for position adjustment. The third occupant seat is similar to the pilot seats, but it is raised on a rotating support, the controls are mechanical and it has no side stick armrest. The fourth and fifth occupant seats are folding type seats and cannot be adjusted.

Galleys are installed in the two deck cabins, to store and prepare food and drinks for the passengers and crew, and to store waste material. Galley can be wet or dry. Wet galleys are used to store and prepare food and drinks; they are connected to potable and waste water systems, to the air extraction and cabin ventilation system and to the power supply. Dry galleys are not connected to any system and are used storage. The number and the location of the galleys depend on the aircraft configuration. The galleys are cooled through a centralized cooling system, called the supplemental cooling system (ATA 21-57).

In case of emergency for a quick evacuation, slide/raft assemblies are located at all upper and main deck cabin exits, except at the main deck overwing exits which have an overwing slide/ramp combination, located in the fuselage fairing. All slide/rafts as well as the slide/ramp are double laned. Deployment of the slide is automatic when the door is opened with the evacuation system in the ARMED mode. A Manual Inflation Pushbutton (MIP), installed at the right hand side of each doorframe when looking outboard is only visible when the door is in the fully open position. This MIP lets get a manual deployment of the slide/raft/ramp when the automatic deployment system fails. The MIP comes on amber when the door is opened in the armed position.

All upper deck doors, U1L/R, U2L/R, U3L/R have a fuselage attached slide/raft system, which is installed in a compartment underneath each door. The slide/raft compartments are outside of the pressurized area and are only accessible from the outside. The slide/raft is packed into a container and carries at its rear upper end the inflation system. The container is attached to the fuselage by a flange and has a blowout panel, which follows the fuselage contour. Slide/raft containers are made so that they can only be installed into their correct location.

The M1L/R, M2L/R, M4L/R and M5L/R doors have a door attached slide raft system. The door-mounted packboard contains the inflation system. An extension slide is necessary at doors M1L/R, in order to cover the large range of sill heights coming from the different crash situations. In order to prevent an incorrect installation of slides, a mechanical coding pin system was developed to make sure that a slide raft unit cannot be physically installed to the wrong door.

M3L/R overwing doors have a sill height of approximately 1.4 meters over the wing. A slide/ramp is installed at these doors to get an exit over the wing and onto the ground. The slide/ramp has not been designed to be a raft and is not used during ditching as is would interfere with the other slides.

EMERGENCY EQUIPMENTS PRESENTATION (1) General

Flash Light

Emergency equipment is installed to give to the crew and the passengers all the necessary tools to safely handle all hazardous situations that could occur in the aircraft.

Flashlights are installed at each cabin attendant station and in the cockpit to have portable lights that are independent from the aircraft electrical system.

Fire Extinguisher

Manual Release Tool

Portable fire extinguishers are installed in the cockpit, in the avionics compartments and in the upper and main deck passenger compartments.

One manual release tool is installed at each cabin attendant station to give cabin and maintenance crew the means to open or to close the flaps of the passenger oxygen system.

Crash Axe Crash axes are installed in the cockpit, in the upper and main deck passenger compartments, to get access to the cabin or out of the cabin in case of an emergency, and to access aircraft components behind panels in case of fire fighting.

Megaphone

L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM25P5000000001

Megaphones are installed in the upper and main deck passenger compartments, which can be used if the public announcement system fails or during emergencies.

First Aid Kit First aid kits are installed in the upper and main deck passenger compartments.

Life Vest Passenger life vests are installed under each passenger seat or in seat armrests. Cockpit crew life vests are installed in the backrest stowage of the captain and first officer seats and in the life vest stowage of the observer seats. Cabin crew life vests are installed under each cabin attendant seat. Children life vests, spare life vests, demo life vests are installed for the two decks. Life vests give to the passengers means to prevent them from drowning and a way to be recognized (through the color) by search and rescue in the night-light.

Portable Oxygen

Emergency Locator Transmitter

Portable oxygen cylinders are installed in the cockpit and cabin to have additional means for first aid treatment to passengers. A related pressure gauge shall be visible with the cylinder installed.

Emergency locator transmitters are installed in the upper and main deck passenger compartments to make distress alert and location information to Search And Rescue (SAR) authorities worldwide.
