Inner Power- Inner power is a natural ability that appears to be supernatural in its effects. It is like a powerful magnetic shield that will protect you from hostile threats. Understand here and now that the threats have to be real and not sport. Your inner power will not work for boxing, wrestling, martial arts competition, etc., as both you and your opponent know that ultimately this is a sporting competition. Inner power only works when someone has immoral intent directed towards you or even your personal belongings. After having studied inner power training methods with several masters, it can be assured that this is in fact a real power that will protect you when needed. Those attacking you will be thrown and/or powerfully repelled by your inner power. You can even control and manipulate their physical actions (much like a puppet), once they have fallen under the influence of your inner power as a result of their aggression, but you should never abuse this particular situation, as your only objective is nonviolent selfdefense, not an all out offensive attack. Compassion is an important quality to cultivate if you are to become a true inner power master. The pictures below illustrate some examples of inner power self defense.

Inner Power activation is a process that should be implemented by a Master who has attained inner power skill and is providing Hara activation to each student. This ensures that the inner power already existing within yourself may be utilized immediately for self protection and that the source of your inner power becomes dramatically more active in response to specific training and meditation. This activation of the chakras allows each initiated student to utilize their inner power instantly without having to train for a great number of years. This unique quality differentiates it from all other martial arts.

Understand that everybody has different inner power potentials that were determined at birth. Just like physical strength, some have it in abundance while some others have it in much smaller quantity. There are also those that have large inner power potential, but unfortunately, due to their life style and choices, it cannot be radiated outside the body since there are many energy blockages within such a body. This type of energy handicap should be cleaned out beforehand. This ensures that the empowerment process of each student's Hara activation becomes unique and personal. This activation process is a little different than attunement to Reiki, but for those who have ever received Reiki attunements or Yoga initiations etc., will find that this inner power activation process works together with any empowerments that you may have already received. You will enjoy multiple synergistic advantages and significant added value.

Your inner power activation uses a special type of chi energy exercised and cultivated by martial artist in Indonesia, generally known as Tenaga Delam or “Inner Power” and a cleansing swirling vortex like energy from a Javanese master who has chosen to remain anonymous. The method of training Tenaga Delam involves breathing exercises where the exerciser holds in his breath while focusing on the 2nd chakra or dan tien, about 2 to 3 inches below the navel. Other focus points include the solar plexus and heart center. However, the main focus should be on the lower energy centers. It is not advised to focus on any centers above the heart with the breath retention method. The main function of this energy is for physical and psychic defense. Please be extremely cautious when putting this “Inner Power” to work as it can be much more than you can conceivably imagine. The attunements provided will also enhance your inner power significantly.

Receiving Your Attunements (1) Find a quiet spot where you can close your eyes and relax. Rest the back of your hands on your knees or lap with the palms facing up. (2) Begin counting backwards from 10 making your voice softer and softer as you count down. Feel yourself going deeper & deeper within yourself as you relax. Start this a few minutes before your scheduled attunement time. (Don’t worry, it will work regardless). (3) Mentally repeat I’m now ready to receive my attunements. (4) Sit quietly for up to 20-minutes as your attunements pour in.

(5) Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help clear any toxins that may have been released from receiving the energy. Rest or nap if necessary. (6) Send an email to [email protected] requesting your attunements. Please provide the Date, Time and Attunement you will receive on that date. Note: you can receive Reiki 1,2,3 & Seichim 1-3 on Day 1. Pusaka Inner Power Reiki #1 on Day 3, Inner Power #2 on

Day 5 and Pusaka Inner Power 3 on Day 7. Kundalini Reiki has 9 attunements and can begin on Day 9. Allow at least 2-days between each successive attunement. On Day 11, you can receive Kundalini 2, day 13 you can receive Kundalini 3 and so on. A sample request for attunement would be as follows:

Please note that Kundalini Reiki attunements must have 2 to 3 days between each attunement to allow your body to adjust to the energy.

Note: In addition, you can also ask God or your higher self to attune you at the requested dates and times as well. Periodically re-attune yourself with this method.

Spiritual Laws: 1) The Law of Attraction: Likes attract likes. This law really has to do with emotional states of being and not physical things such as wealth, material things, relationships, etc. When you feel happy, you attract situations (and possibly “things”) that will make you happier. When you feel successful, you attract opportunities that may make you more successful. When you love yourself, you attract others who love you and so on. “The Lord is my Shepard, I shall not want” It should also be understood from this law that opposites repel. Therefore having a kind compassionate heart combined with inner power activation will thus have the most powerful effect upon those who have immoral actions or intent towards you. 2) The Present Moment: The past no longer exists and the future has not yet arrived. The only moment is now. This present moment is always your point of attraction, be mindful of your state of being. Everything that exists is here now. It’s now for everyone, not just you. 3) Reciprocal polarity or The Law of Balance: The ancient sages have consistently pointed out that all things are composed of equal and opposite counterbalancing forces that make up our reality. There is no positive without negative, hot without cold, pretty without ugly, good without evil, light without dark, Yin without Yang, etc. 4) The Law of Extremes: This law states that when the counterbalancing forces are carried to their extreme limits, their effects become identical. One is equally blinded by intense light as they are by the darkness. This is also why fanaticism can turn something inherently good into something bad. 5) The Law of Karma: Everything is connected and interrelated and everything thus affects everything else. For every action there is a reaction and you must reap what you have sown. Therefore the cultivation of compassion, kindness and generosity towards your fellow man is an important practice for inner power. 6) The Law of Change: Nothing stays the same but Everything else changes. All things change and/or evolve in an orderly series of progressive steps. The only constant that can be depended upon is that things will continue to change in a logical sequential or cyclical manner).

Methods for developing your inner power. Level 1 Exercise Chakra Heat (Perform 5 to 10 minutes twice daily)

Lay down on your back in the classic yoga corpse pose. Close your eyes and listen to relaxing music or sounds. Keep the tongue on the roof of your mouth just behind the front teeth. This is important for your energy circulation!

Follow these instructions carefully and do the following breathing exercise during the entire meditation.

Inhale deeply and slowly through your nose for approximately 4 to 5 seconds, hold your breath in (as long as you can comfortably) and gently compress your stomach muscles as if you were trying to form and squeeze a ball located inside your body between your genitals and belly button. Then exhale through your nose slowly and continually for up to as long as 10 times that of your inhale. Pull your abdominal muscles inward towards your spine to squeeze out additional air and massage internal organs.

Now at the same time you are practicing this breathing method, especially while holding your breath, imagine a hot bright reddish orange ball of fiery

energy that is spinning clockwise inside your abdomen, just under your navel. (Clockwise rotates down the left side and up the right side).

Continue this exercise during the entire meditation. Finish this meditation by warming your palms rubbing them together vigorously while exhaling with the “Haaahhh” sound (like fogging a glass mirror) and then resting the warmed palms down on top of the 2nd chakra (Just under your navel). Remain still in this position for 3 to 5 minutes keeping your awareness on the 2nd chakra allowing more energy to accumulate and activate this area.

After 30 days, if you have done the exercise 2-times per day you can transition to the next exercise. Do not move to the next exercise if you have not completed Level 1. If you only have enough time to do this exercise once per day, allow up to 60 days prior to moving on to the Level 2 exercises! This is important if you truly want this method to work.

DRAGON BREATH TECHNIQUE:

Violet Breath Technique (Level 2A) The main purpose of doing this technique is to clean the energetic pathways that will be used in Kundalini Awakening and strengthening your inner power. Also, this technique can be used as a cleaning process to clean blockages in the Hara line (Front Energy Line) and Sushumna (Back Energy Line). It can also be used as method to “STEP UP POWER” for both Chakra Opening as well as Balancing.

How to perform:

1. Gently contract the perineum (Hui Yin) point [a connection line between front line (Hara Line) and back line (Sushumna)]. It is located between the anus and genitals. This light contraction should be held throughout the entire procedure. The contraction is somewhat like trying to prevent yourself from urinating but with less force. 2. Close the mouth put the tip of your tongue against the soft palate (hollow behind upper teeth) known as the alveolar ridge. 3. State your intention to clean any energy blockages. Take a very deep breath, visualize a white light/mist coming into your body, spinning fast (clockwise) through the Crown chakra, down the front line (hara line) going to all chakras, down to the base or root chakra, cleaning all chakras, and opening the base chakra.

4. Then visualize the white light/mist going up the back line (sushumna) starting at

the perineum (keep contraction of the perineum, the white light/mist is spinning clockwise) cleaning all parts of the back line (Sushumna) up to the back part of your head. (the light/mist continues spinning). 5. Visualize/say in your heart your intention to clean any blockages. 6. Hold your breath as you did in level 1, (keep your tongue against the soft palate inside the mouth) keep the perineum contracted, and visualize the white light changing color from: WHITE into BLUE. Then into BRIGHT BLUE into VIOLET into ELECTRIC VIOLET / BRIGHT VIOLET. 7. Now spin the Bright Violet light counter-clockwise. 8. Bring the spinning Bright-Violet light into the Hara Line (Front Line), while exhaling from mouth (the tongue in usual/normal position). Keep the perineum contracted until the process is finished.

While holding the breath in your stomach, chant the Violet Fire mantra (power sounds): Om Na Ma Swa Ha{Om sounds like Home without the H} Use this mantra for the first 40-days of Level 2A practice. This mantra activates the 1st five chakras, clears negative energy and provides a powerful boost to the days energy. After 40-days change the mantra (power sounds) to: Om Ha Ksa Inia La Va Ra Vum Swa Ha. This mantra activates all chakras in flowing motion and energizes both body and mind.

Kidney Breathing (Level 2B): This method strengthens the body’s kidney or water energy, which is important to counter balance the fire energy of the Dragon breathing method. Stand comfortably and begin to breathe deeply and fully into the lower stomach. It should expand when you inhale and contract when you exhale. Point your palms at one another and try to become aware of the space between the palms of your hands. In the early stages, you may feel heat, wind or tingling sensations, but as your inner power grows, it should begin to feel like two powerful magnets repelling one another.

Once you have a sense of energy between your palms, bring them around your waist, so that you can point them at your lower back towards the kidneys. As you inhale, feel the kidneys absorb the energy, like a sponge absorbing water. As you exhale, feel them release the energy back out towards your hands. You can also gently lean forward as you inhale and gently lean back as you exhale to enhance the energy flow in and out of the kidneys. After some practice, you will be able to breathe in and out of the kidneys without the need of the hands. Keep your focus on the Kidneys!

The inhalation should be long and slow. At least 2 times as long as the exhale. Breathe through the nose and try to give yourself the chills.

Inner Power Meditation (Level 3) While performing the Dragon Breathing method, visualize yourself inside a golden pyramid that surrounds your entire body. The golden color symbolizes the color of your aura when you are among friends and loved ones. Remember likes attract likes, but opposites repel. With inner power, you have no enemies, but depending on the attackers intent and emotions, you may find that “killing them with kindness” is a very real possibility.

Give your pyramid the power to protect you physically but also to bless and heal those that may intend you harm. Your energy pyramid provides powerful protection from physical attack, psychic attack, and emotional abuse and radiates love, healing and compassion to all. Whatever happens to those that unwisely threaten your space is totally up to God or the Universe to decide. Stronger negative intents will meet with more adverse effects! By cultivating moral virtues and compassion towards your fellow man and other forms of life, you expand your heart, which not only leads to greater happiness and fulfillment from life, but also increases your inner power.

The energy radiated from the heart center can easily reach a diameter of 12feet (6 foot radius) around the body. The inner power training methods previously described will further strengthen this naturally occurring bioenergetic field. This energy field, which exists in all human beings, is what causes your aggressor to be thrown or repelled away from you. The stronger their emotional unbalance or immoral intent, the more powerful the inner power repulsion. In some instances, this can even be fatal for the aggressor, but understand that this is the will of heaven, not yours. You simply project love, peace and healing and let your inner power do what it must.

Here is another great Inner Power Exercise that is short and extremely effective. 1) Build the sensation of energy between your palms 2) Pulse your palms back and forth slowly with the following breath. Exhale with the “haaaaah” sound like fogging a mirror as you squeeze your palms together (feeling them repel like magnets) and inhale through the nose with a similar "h" sound at the back of the throat (Like a yoga breath) letting your hands push themselves apart with the chi. Continue to build and expand the pressure between the hands.

3) Once you have a strong sensation of a thick ball, you will begin pressing it over your head, like a military press exercise. 4) Picture it as a yellow/golden ball (like a small sun) that grows heavier, thicker and larger as you press upwards. Exhaling with the "Haaaah" sound.

5) As you inhale through your nose with the "h" sound at the back of throat, bring it back down, still growing it larger, thicker and heavier. 6) Continue building and expanding this yellow ball of energy until you can barely lift it. It's weight should feel like its crushing down on you as you lower it and pressing it upwards is nearly impossible. You should feel like a tiny ant like speck pushing up the sun. 7) Now, mentally visualize and condense it (like packing a snowball) so that it retains its weight, but it shrinks in size to approximately a 10-foot radius golden sphere. It becomes an incredibly dense powerful ball of luminous golden protective energy. 8) Slowly lower it for the last time and picture as well as feel your body going inside this golden sphere as it comes down. It will feel as if you are going inside a soap buble! Feel your head go in, then neck, shoulders, etc. Bring it all the way down into the earth, so that a portion of it is even below your feet. Stand with your arms relaxed at your sides. Close your eyes and continue to visualize yourself inside the energy sphere.

9) Now with your eyes still closed and picturing yourself inside the sphere, give it the power or intent to protect you from all harm (physical, emotional, psychic, spiritual) just like an invisible force field. Have it radiate love & healing energy to your body and to all those that you come in contact with. Give it the instruction to continually recharge itself from the infinite energy of the universe and the strength of the earth so that it never exhausts itself and is always with you.

Zhang Zhuang QiGong The main practice for developing inner power in Chinese internal martial art systems is Zhang Zhuang or standing meditation practice. This particular Qigong training builds very strong chi when done correctly and develops inner power to a high degree if practiced daily for 3 years. In addition to the basic standing practice, there are concentration or mental exercises known as Yinian activities that can develop certain human potentials after you have done the basic training for several months. This training method can be practiced along with the level 2 exercises to increase inner power.

Standing Meditation Method Shaolin “Nei Jing Yi Zhi Chan”, which means “Internal essence no intent Zen” and emitting your inner chi energy through one’s ten fingers is an advanced Qigong from the Buddhist tradition. Chan means Zen in Chinese and refers to the “No Thinking” style of this standing meditation practice known as Zhuang Zhuang (Jan Jong). The exercise methods are simple and produce truly marvelous effects. Due to the Chan (Zen) nature of the method, it is not required to concentrate your attention while practicing. You can even watch TV while performing this system of Qigong. Through this training, all of the body’s energy channels will be automatically cleared and opened from the Zhuang Zhuang exercises. This will allow you to accumulate outer chi or universal life force and also emit your own chi. These exercises will dramatically improve your health which can cause the effect of having diseases spontaneously enter remission. By continued practice and skill, you will be able to emit your Chi into others to examine and aid in their healing of illness or diseases. Reaching a Master’s level will fully awaken the Greater Kan & Li (Fire & Water) also known as Kundalini energy allowing you to explore your dormant primordial energy with all of its various paranormal or mystical capabilities. This energy is also known as “Spirit”, “The Advocate”. “The Key to Knowledge”, “The Holy Spirit”, “The Dragon or Serpent”, “The Mustard Seed”, “The Breath of God”, “Lightning or Lightning Bolt”, etc. in various religions and traditions. Awakening this dormant energy is the doorway to enlightenment and finding God, the divine or universe within you.

Shaolin Nei Jing Yi Zhi Chan originated from the Shaolin Monastery under the strong influence of Chinese martial arts “Wu Shu” and internal body exercises “Shaolin Nei Gong.” It was brought to public attention in Shanghai China when a monk of 18+ years (Master Que Ah Shui) from the Southern Shaolin temple was permitted to leave to carry on the family name as he was the only son. During this time he miraculously cured many people with serious diseases and became well known. As a result, he started teaching this secret Qigong method publicly to his students. While most Buddhist meditations methods have their emphasis on “mind cultivation” this particular method focuses on the body cultivation instead as a result of the martial arts influence. In many respects, it is really a hybrid combination that most likely was the result of the arrival of the sage Bodhidharma at the monastery.

Shaolin One Finger Qigong's intention is to build your body's chi on 10 levels. Unlike most styles of Qigong, this style requires the student to NOT think about or guide chi but rather to generate chi and allow it to flow naturally. The emphasis is that chi is intelligent and understands the natural flow in the channels. In Chinese Medicine disease or pain derives from chi

deficiency and stuck or blocked chi in the body. So as the student fills up with chi, the chi flows it's natural pattern and timing. In today's fast paced lifestyles we use our minds way too much. This training is an opportunity to move away from that cycle. The basic motto of this Qigong is “RELAX, KEEP DOWN, AND NO THINKING.”

The standing practice is based on the postures of Arhats, which are somewhat like saints or perfected men. There are 500 postures based on this method but only a few are needed to achieve desired results. Many people falsely believe that no-mind or intent means complete mental silence, which can and does occur at times, but the real objective is to simply stay in the present moment not allowing your mind to drift off into memories of the past or projections into the future. Keep your awareness in the Here and Now and the rest will automatically take care of itself. You can watch TV; listen to music and even talk with others while practicing so it is not like a deep state of meditation. It also means that you are not allowed to intentionally guide the chi through the body’s channels. When you feel the chi, just let it do what it is going to do naturally.

Begin this practice by acquiring the ability to hold each posture individually for 20-minutes. Start with position #1 “Wu Ji” or standing in the void. Begin with a stand of 3-minutes and then add a one minute each day until you reach a 20-minute practice. Then add the next position and so on in a similar fashion. Immediately upon finishing your standing practice, walk for several minutes to loosen up your leg muscles and circulate the blood and chi. It is best to practice Zhang Zhuang 1to 2 hours after eating.

Also, when you finish, drink a glass of warm water (room temperature is fine) and do not shower or bathe for at least 1-hour.

The Full Circle

Cycle Runs Counter Clockwise Starting at The Top Position

Hold each posture for at least 5-minutes before moving to the next position. Start and finish in position #1 Before moving on to the Full Circle routine, you should be able to hold each position individually for 20-minutes. You should start from position #1 and

work on adding a minute each day, until you can remain in the position comfortably for a full 20-minutes. When this has been achieved, start working on position 2 and so on, until you can do each one for a full 20-minutes. Always start your workouts with at least 2 or 3 minutes in the Wu Ji (poison # 1) regardless of which posture you are working on.

Position 1 “standing in the void, ‘Wu Ji’” Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, toes facing forward. Let your arms rest naturally, dropping your shoulders and elbows. Relax your hips and tummy; tuck your bottom in, with your knees slightly bent.

Position 2 “Holding The Ball or Hugging the Tree” Stand as the first position raising your arms slowly as if holding a large beach ball. Let your elbows sink down to relax the shoulders. The arms should remain relaxed and held at shoulder height.

Position 3 “Holding The Ball in front of the Face, or Pressing the Ball” Raise your hands in front of your face as if holding a large beach ball. Palms facing outwards sink down slightly; remember to relax your arms and shoulders.

Position 4 “Standing in The Stream” Lower your arms slowly, imagine that you are standing in a stream, up to your waist, letting the water run through your fingers. Or imagine you are holding down two large helium balloons under your hands. The stance is the same as the previous two positions.

Position 5 “Holding The Ball at The Belly” Bring your hands around the front of your body; imagine you are holding a large beach ball to your body.

Finish Upon finishing position #5, return to position 1 “Standing in the Void” for several minutes and then relax sealing in the energy over your Dan Tien with your hands. Walk around for a few minutes after to circulate the accumulated energy and relax the legs.

The most common errors of exercising the standing method is throwing out one’s chest or protruding one’s abdomen or sticking up one’s hip. All these cause one in the posture to be leaning backwards. To keep one’s upper body erect, one must curve one’s chest a bit inward and “uplift” one’s backbone or tailbone. You must also draw in your abdomen and withdraw one’s hip. This basic rule should be followed in all the standing methods. You should feel your whole foot in contact with the ground but your upper body weight will feel like you are leaning slightly forward.

After you have acquired the ability to comfortably perform the Full Circle with enjoyment and pleasure, you are ready to proceed further in your Shaolin Nei Jing Yi Zhi Chan training. The next posture is the main fundamental pose of the entire system and you will need to achieve the ability to stand in this pose for 20-minutes just like the others. This should not be difficult since your legs are already conditioned to the training.

Fundamental Arhat Posture of Shaolin Nei Jing Yi Chan Qigong.

Preparing posture: Relax completely in Wu Ji #1. Stand with feet shoulderwidth apart. Point the toes straight forward but also slightly inward. Your arms hanging naturally with palms touching the thighs. Keep the head and neck erect with eyes looking straight ahead. Just breathe naturally.

Standing posture: Squat down a little allowing the knees to come inwards toward one another. Then flex both knees outward like riding a horse. This adds torque to the tendon lines of the legs. Meanwhile, slowly raise and stretch forth your upper arms slowly, and have the armpits “opened” (with enough space to hold an egg in it). Slowly raise forearms, which should be parallel to each other, to the ground-paralleling level with palms facing downward and fingers straightening naturally. Keep the backs of the hands and the forearms at the same height (See photo above & Fig.1and Fig. 2).

Main Points

Stand with soles in full contact with ground surface and with toes gently grasping the ground. (Refer to Fig. 3) Point knees to insteps, but do not exceed the perpendicular of the toes. Shrink & gently contract anus, withdraw hip and draw in the abdomen a little. Relax the torso completely with shoulders and elbows, twisting free without stiffening. Keep lower limbs standing freely. Relax thighs and calves and erect your torso by raising your core upwards. Curve the chest a bit inward and, imagine as if you were uplifting your tailbone. Look straight ahead with regular Qigong breathing. Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. 1st hold up all fingers naturally. Do not put forth any strength nor stiffen. Hold up thumb naturally beside forefinger. Keep forefinger in line with the back of the hand. Lower the positions of forefinger, middle finger, ring finger and little finger naturally and sequentially, shaped like staircase. If you imagine that you are trying to hold a small bowl in each hand by palming it as gently as possible, you will have the correct hand position. If you fully open and stretch your hand and fingers out as far as possible and

then just let the entire hand relax it will naturally achieve the correct hand position.

To correctly practice this method, begin by standing in the void (Wu Ji) for a few minutes to relax and calm the mind. Count backwards (10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) a few times to help quiet the mind. Once you feel calm and relaxed, squat down a little deeper and move into the fundamental Arhat posture just illustrated and discussed above by slowly raising your forearms upwards and elbows slightly forward and out away from your body. The goal is to eventually hold this posture for 20-minutes and then continue with the remainder of the “Full Circle” (positions 2 through 5) holding each posture for 5-minutes each bringing your standing meditation up to a solid 40-minutes in length. After finishing position 5, stand with your hands over your dan tien for a minute or two to store the chi. Finish the exercise by walking around for several minutes to relax the legs and circulate the accumulated chi and blood flow.

In the early stages of Zhang Zhuang training, you may shake or vibrate uncontrollably, sweat intensely, feel itchy or tingly, various sensations of heat or cold, your feet may bother you, your muscles may feel sore, especially the thighs, calves and shoulders. You may experience numbness or some type of asymmetry in terms of physical balance or even asymmetry of the sensations described. For example, one side of your body could feel warm and the other side could feel cold. However, with continued practice, usually by the 6th week, this will become a very pleasant exercise that you will look forward to doing each day. Persevere it is well worth the effort. As your chi gets stronger, the exercise becomes pleasant and effortless. The

author has personally stood in the fundamental Arhat for over 3 hours straight in a state of pure bliss. Every internal style of Chinese martial arts that focuses on chi development and internal power utilizes Zhang Zhuang as the primary chi building exercise. This is truly a remarkable method of Qigong training with a history going back 1000’s of years. With consistent practice, it should only take approximately 4-months on average to become fully proficient in this method.

Zhang Zhuang Secret Yinian Activities Yinian activities are “concentration or focus” exercises to be performed mentally as you practice Zhang Zhuang or Standing Meditation. Yinian activities have always been a well-kept secret in the past, only shared with a select group of highly trusted students through oral tradition and absolutely never written down. However in today’s modern world, some masters have recently begun to share this sacred knowledge openly for the betterment of all mankind. That said, what you are about to learn here is likely to be something you never would have come across in your entire lifetime, as it is still a very well protected secret. The most likely reason for this secrecy is that these Yinian activities or mental concentration exercises are used to develop supernatural or paranormal abilities as well as achieve spiritual enlightenment. The exercises fall into three general categories (1) No mind or intent also known as Chan or Zen meditation from the Mi Zhong Buddhist traditions. (2) Internal Yinian (seeking sensations from within) and (3) External Yinian (seeking from without) both from Shaolin traditions but more likely from the Taoist perspective. The primary difference between the

techniques utilized is the absence or presence of mind and intent known as Yi in Chinese.

Before moving onto the Yinian activities, it is important to understand how Zhang Zhuang or standing Qigong originated and what it was based upon. All of the postures assumed in the art of Zhang Zhuang are based on Arhats, which are perfect men of Hinayana, similar to Saints or Taoist immortals.

By maintaining a static or physically stationary posture, internal energy movement is greatly excited and stimulated. Doing nothing is the exercise. The less you do physically the greater the overall energetic effect known as the “movement within non-movement” will be. The objective is to be completely relaxed in the postures or Arhats, both physically and mentally. This is true while performing Yinian activities as well. The mind can and should still be calm and relaxed while focusing or concentrating on a specific task. Frustration, disappoint, or any other negative line of thought must be avoided or released at all cost. It is ok for them to appear in your mind, but do not hold on to them, just let them go and fade away into oblivion. Relaxation is without doubt the most vital element not only in the Zhang Zhuang and Yinian exercises, but also in any form of Qigong or

internal martial arts training if it is to be truly effective. Only when the body is relaxed will the internal organs settle, the blood and energy flow freely and genuine coordination of all the muscle ("the muscles as one") groups and control of integrated strength be possible. One must never exert brute force for this will create strain and tensions, obstructing the blood and energy flow, which will exhaust the body instead of energize it.

Grand Master Wang Xiangzhai wrote: The Standing Pole Exercises seek to develop strength from non-strength (non-exertion), movement from nonmovement, and rapid movement from only the slightest movement. The more relaxed the body, the faster the circulation of blood, and the faster internal strength will develop. In the early stages of Zhang Zhuang training, you will find the postures physically difficult, but you should control the level of difficultly (via the depth of your stance) so as to be as comfortable as possible. In other words, develop at one's own pace. Don't try to do too much too soon, or over-stretch one's physical capabilities. Exhaustion or fatigue is to be strictly avoided. On the other hand, one must persevere, not just giving up because of some physical discomfort, boredom or one just cannot be bothered. Concentrate during your practice. Avoid any unnatural postures and remember that this is holistic exercise of the entire body. It is a very common fallacy that such standing exercises are to develop muscular strength and stamina and that the lower the posture one stands in the better

the result. This is completely contrary to the whole essence of the theory of the Zhang Zhuang Exercises. To quote Grand Master Wang Xiangzhai again: "If the muscles are overly tense then strength is exhausted". Relaxation is the basis for promoting energy through blood circulation and strengthening the entire body as an integrated whole. Thus bend the knees only as much as is comfortable: the more relaxed they are, the longer one can stand and the longer one can stand, the more benefits one will receive. There is no need to concern oneself with gradually sinking lower to increase the degree of exercise. Of course, one may well find that after long practice one automatically drops lower and lower without even noticing; this is perfectly natural and is to be expected as one's legs strengthen as a result of Zhang Zhuang.

Passive Yinian Activities

As discussed earlier, one of the oldest known styles of Zhang Zhuang is Shaolin Nei Jing Yi Zhi Chan Qigong, which translates as Internal Essence

Mind Zen also known as One Finger Zen. Its origination was likely the natural result of combining Shaolin martial and health-training stances with meditating in a relaxed static posture as influenced by the Mi Zong branch of Buddhism. “Our main Qi Gong training is based on Arhats 'postures' or 'stands'. There are a total of 500 famous Arhats, and our 'postures' or 'stands' are named after them. Arhats are saint or perfect men of Hinayana”-Grand Master Zhang Jing Fa.

Shaolin One Finger Qigong's intention is to build your body's Qi on 10levels. Unlike most styles of Qigong, this particular style requires the student to NOT think about or guide qi but rather to simply generate qi and allow it to flow naturally on it’s own accord. The supernatural or paranormal abilities associated with this top notch Qigong and achieving “no mind” are: (1) Deva-Vision: Instantaneous view of anything, anywhere in the formrealm. (2) Deva-Hearing: Ability to hear any sound anywhere. (3) Other's-Heart: Ability to know the thoughts of all other minds. (4) Tell-Life: Knowledge of all former existence of self and others. (5) Travel-Beyond: Power to be anywhere or do anything at will. Similar to Astro-Travel (6) Nothing-and-All: All of above and in the league of beings above and beyond common. At this level, all things are possible, yet nothing is desired.

Active Yinian Activities On the opposite side of the Standing Chan or Zen approach are specific concentration or focus exercises first introduced by Grand Master Wang Xiangzhai in the early 1920’s. Each specific Yinian activity or concentration exercise produces different abilities or effects. In addition to Master Wang’s mental exercises, some other yinian activities from various yogic traditions are utilized to manifest various human potentialities and abilities.

1) Deterrent Force – Deterrent force is the ability to completely overwhelm any opponent who is either in physical contact with you or in fairly close proximity to your body via certain energetic information stored within every cell of your body. The development of such a force (as well as some others) is divided into two stages (a) seeking within and (b) seeking without. As Master Wang Xiangzhai said: “There is nothing that can be used except oneself, but if one is confined by oneself, one will achieve nothing. Although one is qualified with everything, one has to seek more outside oneself.” The first stage is always seeking from within.

Deterrent Force Stage 1 (seeking from within): In this stage, one is to imagine that their whole body is submerged in warm bath water. This image can greatly improve a person’s vitality. It is only when a person is full of vitality that they are capable of responding to the universe. This activity can enhance blood cell reproduction, circulation and energize the entire endocrine system and the body’s immune function.

Deterrent Force Stage 2 (Seeking without): In this stage, one is to visualize beautiful natural scenery, such as a nice park setting, lush green fields with trees, flowers, blue sky, etc. or any other beautiful scene from nature. By means of this concentration exercise, you may reach a conscious level of becoming one with nature. If at all possible, this exercise should be performed outdoors in a visually pleasant natural setting. In this way, you can merge with nature much more directly by observing the air and blood flow within your body as well as feeling the magnetic repelling pressure or struggling force amongst all things around you. By doing so, your deterrent force potentials will be developed, laying a solid foundation for combat even though you are completely unaware of this fact. In other words, you are developing this ability even though you will not notice it until you are threatened by violence or potentially dangerous situations.

(2) Intuitive Sense- This is the ability to know your opponents intent prior to his actions allowing you to attack, defend or counter attack by “starting later, but arriving sooner”. This ability is also developed in two stages. This ability can also be used for detecting illness or weakness in others for a type of medical diagnosis as well as other purposes.

Intuitive Sense Stage 1 (Seeking within). This yinian activity is focused on watching, listening and exercising the body’s nerves, which can produce a unique effect in developing remote or intuitive sense. It starts with comfortable relaxed breathing with your eyes closed. Simply relax and listen to the inside of your body. Mentally inspect each of your internal organs, breathing life force energy in and out the organ. Inspect all your muscles and limbs the same way, relaxing them one by one keeping track of their state of

looseness and level of relaxation. Your concentration must be kept from becoming stagnant so that any stale air can be expelled from the organs. Keep yourself comfortable but also alert.

Intuitive Sense Stage 2 ( seeking from without). In this stage, your yinian activity is to concentrate on the sound and physical sensation of drizzling rain. Imagine the sound of drizzling rain from both near and far. Have it approach you and have it drift away. There are many “sounds of nature” CD’s or tapes that have rain effects on them that you can use as a point of reference in the early stages of this training. Once you have developed the sense of the rain sound, you can add the physical sensation of rain drizzling

on your body. This yinian activity develops the nerves to a very high level, which results in the Intuitive Sense ability. Some masters have such an acute intuitive sense that they can accurately respond to an opponents intent even when the opponent is in a completely different room on the other side of a wall. As master Wang Xiangzhai said in one of his poems “Not one feather can be added to my body. Nor can a fly land on it. My opponent does not understand me, but I can understand him completely. A real hero has no rivals.”

Integrative Force- This is the ability to move all muscle groups simultaneously as one integrated whole and results in phenomenal physical strength in all your movements. Relaxation is once again the central issue. Wang Xiangzhai wrote: If one does not use the mind to relax and harmonize all the muscles of the body, they will never be free to expand and contract smoothly, and one will never be able to harness the use of lively strength" "Lively strength" follows the movement of Will (yi), Will is the commander of strength, and strength is the army of will. This is the aim of the moving exercises, rather than to just exercise the muscles and joints." The movements should always be slow and even; slow, so that concentration and relaxation can be maintained, mind leading movement, feeling every change of body and strength; even, so that the flow of strength remains unbroken. This will lead to the development of stamina and control without tiring the body, restricting respiration or blood circulation. When moving it should feel as if friction (or repelling magnetic force) is created between one's body and the atmosphere around, as if you are "swimming in the air." The movement should also be as if about to stop but not quite doing so, flowing on at the same unbroken pace. At first, movements will tend to be large and

spacious, gradually becoming more and more compact as concentration develops and internal movement increases, until almost no physical movement is apparent at all. To begin with, just the hands and arms move, then the whole body is gradually led into the movement, until one moves in complete coordination, reaching the criterion of "if one part moves, all parts move."

Integrative Force Stage 1- The following exercise was developed by Master Yao Zangxun for learning integrative force from the simple stage to the more complex. Yinian activity: Imagine that you are holding onto a large tree and your body is attached to the tree trunk very closely. Now, continue to imagine that you are swaying the tree back and forth (left, right, forward and back). Next, imagine that you are tearing or splitting the tree into two halves and then putting the halves back together again. During this yinian activity or concentration exercise, your body can only be allowed to move slightly within the chosen posture (typically Combat, On Guard or Dragon Mouth stance), but your limbs, waist, back and abdomen must be in complete cooperation to create a struggling force between the upper and lower, the left and right, and the front and back. Imagine that you are pulling, pushing, lifting, pressing, splitting and reuniting in various sequences. You are eager to do everything, but actually you appear to be doing nothing as the physical sensations are all internal. If you do not touch anything, nothing exists; but if you touch something, everything suddenly appears. This is exactly as Grand Master Wang Xiangzhai has stated: “Once it is touched off, it would explode successively.” This exercise teaches one to feel and develop integrated force in finite space.

Integrative Force Stage 2- In this stage, the body is allowed to slowly move for the purpose of changing to another static posture or to maintain a chosen posture while stepping forward, backward or any diagonal direction. Actual movement should not be attempted until you feel the “struggling force” from all directions as was described in stage 1. This struggling force sensation must be maintained as you physically move to keep your integrative force intact. Without this sensation, your form will be empty.

Yinian activity for infinite space: Imagine that you are surrounded by tornado like vortexes. Two vortexes spiral up each leg, pulling you down to the earth and meet at your waist, creating another struggling force at your midsection through their interaction. Another tornado like vortex is above you, trying to lift and uproot you as if you were a tree being removed from the earth. The struggling force of these two vortexes creates a type of magnetic repelling action as you try to move in any direction. It is as if something is constantly repelling and resisting all your motions. No matter which direction you move, it always feels like you are going against the flow of a powerfully repelling magnetic force.

Continue to mentally expand the size of the vortexes into infinite space. At first as the vortexes begin, they are tightly wrapped around your body, but then they continue to grow and expand in both size and strength, reaching hurricane proportions. Through this type of practice and yinian activity, Master Wang Xiangzhai achieved his superb and masterful art, with which he could strike even the largest opponent and literally send him sailing as easily if he were just patting a ball or hanging up a picture. “If you do not touch anything, nothing exists; but if you touch something, everything suddenly appears.”, “Once it is touched off, it would explode successively.” It is important to note that the body inherently “knows” how to perform integrative force. For example, if you were asked to carry a heavy awkward object such as a large television, your body would automatically recruit the proper large muscle groups and stabilizer muscles to accomplish this task. It is through proper training and yinian activities, that this unconscious skill becomes a conscious and consistent everyday way of moving thus adding tremendous power to all your physical movements.

Ling Kong Jin (Empty or Distant Force)- This is the ability to physically move another person via energy projection from a distance, which can be several meters away. The force develops automatically as a result of any long-term standing practice (typically manifests after 3-years of training) from universal and earth energy activating and building the chi inside the dantien (the body’s main energy storage center). This skill can be used martially or medically as it is a projection skill. To do this effectively, one has to totally organize the mind and body. First of all, the mind needs to concentrate or focus strongly. For instance, if you want to push 1kg for 1m, you must concentrate your mind as if you wanted to push 100kg for 100m.

In other words, the yinian activity is to over exaggerate the size and distance of the person you want to move. This force can be used to push, pull, lift or drop a person martially (or as a fun game) or it can be used to send healing Chi from a distance. If you mentally just try to move the person, they may simply sway back and forth, but if you imagine that you are moving a semitruck the effect will be much different. It is important to note that if we want to send out a strong empty force, we must also be strongly rooted because then we can also use the earth’s force or energy. Its vibration force can rise up in the body, meeting the energy force in the dantien and together rise further, through the spine, and, at the height of the shoulder blades, divide and move via the arms to the hands and be sent out to the patient's or opponents body. Ling Kong Jin is a very powerful skill that can be used to heal or adversely affect a person’s internal organs or manipulate their chi flow. We strongly advise against using this skill martially on someone’s internal organs unless you have been properly trained under a master who regularly uses this skill to heal others. If you can’t fix it, don’t break it.

Ling Kong Jin (How to practice)- As discussed earlier, this ability develops naturally as a result of long-term Zhang Zhuang practice. This is an ability that everyone has it is just not developed to a high level. To practice Ling Kong Jin, you will need a partner, or several partners. One method is to perform circle walking around an imaginary center such is done in Baguazhang, and try to project energy to influence the movement of your partner/opponent on the other side.

Another technique is to have your partner stand in front of you completely relaxed with his eyes closed so he doesn’t try to resist your efforts. Then,

you simply try to push and pull him with your exhale and inhaling breath respectively. You can also use relaxed pushing and pulling hand and arm motions to help coordinate your mind with the activity. Below is a picture of master Dr. Shen Hongxun using empty force to move a student through the air (www.buqi.net). The Buqi Qigong system has some similarities to the Shaolin Nei Jing Yi Zhi Chan method.

For solo practice, you can face a wall and project your chi into it with the intent that it will bounce back and push upon your body. Stand relaxed about 3 feet from the wall. Point your palms at the wall and try to feel the space between your hands and the wall. Push on this space and feel it bouncing back causing your body to be pushed backward as you push your chi into the wall. As you bring your hands back towards the chest, you should feel pulled towards the wall.

Before moving on, it should be stated that the Yinian activities should not cause any mental frustration or stress. If you are having trouble, with the concentration exercises, simply accept this fact, relax and continue on with your Zhang Zhuang practice. Relaxation both mentally and physically are the most important elements in your standing meditation practice.

Elemental Yinian Activities

The purpose and objective of this next series of yinian exercises is to call fourth from the universe the individual elements into your soul and physical body at your will or discretion. In the beginning, keep these exercises very short to allow your body time to get accustomed to these routines. For the first several times, you should not accumulate more than 7 to 10 inhalations of any element. Overtime with regular training, you may gradually raise this to 20 or 30 inhalations as you become more used to this type of practice. At no point, should your elemental accumulation exercises ever exceed 20-minutes in length. There is no need or benefit to practicing longer than this amount of time. This applies to the accumulation of Fire, Water, Air and Earth. You must take your time with these exercises and learn how to walk before you attempt to run. Otherwise, you may cause yourself harm and/or hinder your progress. Keep this in mind for each of the following yinian exercises! For starters, you will perform all of these exercises with your eyes closed, but overtime, you should work towards

performing them with your eyes open as this mental ability offers even further advantages. You must also succeed in accumulating the elements in the exact order given. Do not attempt to accumulate Air, until you have developed the ability to accumulate Fire. Similarly, do not try to accumulate Water, until you have successfully completed the accumulation of Air, etc. Furthermore, it is of great importance to invoke your “feeling concentration” abilities during the accumulation exercises. When you accumulate Fire, for instance, you must literally feel the sensation of heat and the expansive nature of its pressure and radiance. These must be real physical sensations that you experience throughout your entire body. When you exhale the element, it is recommended that the number of your exhalations is exactly the same as the number of inhalations you took when accumulating the element. For example, if you inhaled 10 breaths of the Fire element during accumulation, you should therefore exhale 10 breaths of the Fire element during the release.

Supreme Yang (The Accumulation of the Fire element)

The first step in this exercise is to assume the standing meditation posture. Feet are shoulder width apart (horse stance) and the hands are gently pressed together in “prayer hands” position at chest level. The breathing and breath retention method is the same as the Violet Breath technique you practiced in level 2. The visualization however is different. With your eyes closed, imagine that your body is empty and hollow and is inside the center of a great fiery sphere. Everything around you is red and hot with intense fire; it is radiating intense warmth and expanding in all directions. Now, as you inhale, you bring in through your nose and all the pores of your body the Fire element, which circulates throughout your entire being. Hold your breath as long as you can comfortably. When you exhale, make the “Haaahhh” sound in the back of your throat even if you exhale through the nose. The exhalation should be much longer or prolonged than the inhalation. As you breathe out, nothing but ordinary air is expelled, which only intensifies and increases the fire burning around you. With each inhalation, the heat of the fire is increased and pressed deeper into your body. The internal pressure is starting to build. As you inhale, not only does the heat increase, but the radiating expansive force and fiery pressure must also increase until you eventually feel like you are fiery hot! In the beginning, you will perceive the imaginary heat only in your soul. Over time, with each successive practice of this exercise, this heat will become physically perceptible as well, where you may elevate your body temperature to the level of intense perspiration or possibly even fever. It is also possible to raise the room temperature by several degrees through continued practice of this exercise. After you have accumulated the Fire element, circulate it around your entire body a few times. Now, we must begin to exhale the Fire element back into the universe.

Use normal even deep breathing for this phase of the exercise. The inhalation and exhalation should take about 5 to 7 seconds each with no retention of the breath in between. With each inhalation, you now take in ordinary air. When you exhale, imagine that the Fire element is expelled through both your lungs and entire body (pore breathing). With each exhalation, you feel the heat dissipate as well as the expansive fiery pressure. Continue to expel the Fire element from your body until you feel that you are back to normal and sense that the entire accumulated fire element has been completely removed from your system.

There are practitioners in the Orient who have the ability to accumulate and condense the Fire element to such a high degree that they can melt snow and ice, which is physically near them or in some cases even several miles away. There are even some specialized yoga masters that will actually sit on top of large blocks of ice and melt them through the accumulation of Fire or Supreme Yang exercise. They can walk about completely naked and barefoot in extremely cold weather without being affected at all. Even when they are wrapped with cold wet cloth, it dries in a very short time. Others may develop pyrokinesis abilities and can actually cause things such as paper or other items to burst into flames. In theory, this and similar abilities can be produced by you as well as anyone else that spends enough time on this Fire accumulation exercise. Accumulation of the Air element

The first step of this exercise is to assume a seated or lying down meditation posture. Next, you will once again use your skills of visualization and feeling concentration. Because air is invisible, some prefer to imagine this element as a glowing bluish green gas or smoke. Now, imagine yourself as a hollow empty shell sitting in the center of a great air space, which fills the entire universe. You perceive nothing else, only air, and are completely unaware of your other surroundings. Now, begin to inhale the Air element in through the crown of your head and physical body through your lungs and skin pores. The breathing is steady and even, with the inhalation taking approximately the same amount of time as the exhalation. The breath is only held or retained for 3 to 5 seconds. With each inhalation of the Air element, you feel your body getting lighter and lighter as if it were becoming as light

as the air itself. Allow this lightness to first fill your chest and then work its way down to your stomach and legs. When you exhale, nothing is mentally expelled. With each inhalation the lightness intensifies until you can no longer perceive your physical body because of its weightlessness. You and the air element are one and the same and you feel like a weightless cloud of smoke just floating about, filling all space. Now, mentally circulate the lightness of the Air element throughout your weightless body before releasing in back into the universe. Feel it circulating throughout your body as if you were a tornado or windstorm. Now, we must begin to expel this element back into the universe. Nothing is mentally inhaled and only the Air element is expelled during exhalation. As you exhale the Air element out your lungs and pores, you begin to perceive weight return to your body. With each exhalation, you feel heavier and heavier until your full body weight returns to normal. In the end, you must feel that the Air element has been completely expelled from your body and that nothing of it remains in your system.

Through continuous practice of this exercise, the practitioner may achieve great physical speed and the ability to jump extremely high as well as potentially developing mystical phenomena associated with advanced spiritual development such as levitation or the ability to walk on water. It is also possible to make other objects lighter, or even levitate them by mentally accumulating the air element directly into the target source.

Supreme Yin (The Accumulation of the Water element)

The first step of this exercise is to assume the water meditation posture, which is corpse pose or lying down meditation. First, lay down on your back with your palms face down on the ground. Relax your entire body from head to toe and make yourself as comfortable as possible, but don’t fall asleep. Now, imagine that you are floating on a giant ocean of cool water. There is nothing else in the universe except an infinite ocean of water and you are directly in the center of it all. Now slowly let your body be completely submerged in the water element. As you inhale slowly through your entire body (lungs & pores), you experience the coldness and contracting power of this element. Whereas the fire element was hot, expansive and exploding,

the water element is cool, contracting and imploding. You begin to feel the coldness of the water sensation throughout your entire body. With each inhalation, you get colder and colder as you become more magnetically attractive. The inhalation should be very slow, taking much longer than the exhale breath. Don’t retain the breath for this exercise other than a brief 1second pause. Through progressive inhalations, you feel cooler and cooler until you are icy cold and your body seems to have its own attracting force or gravitational pull as a result of this condensing water element. The pressure builds from the outside and pushes inward on your body as if you were being squeezed from all sides by strong magnetic force. Whereas the fire element was hot and exploding, the water element is cold and imploding. Begin to circulate this feeling around your body like a whirlpool vortex.

Now, begin to expel this element through your entire body as you exhale. With each breathe out, your body temperature slowly warms toward normal levels and the attractive power and pressure fades away. Continue to exhale the element until you feel that it has been completely expelled from your entire body. Practitioners of this exercise in the Orient have achieved many great phenomena through their control of the Water element. One of the simplest applications is to keep yourself cool on a hot day but there are many other benefits for you to discover. Some of the paranormal effects of this exercise are: out of body experience, distant viewing, lucid dreaming, spiritual visions or premonitions, greater intuition or ESP, connection with other dimensional beings, astral travel and telepathy.

The Accumulation of the Earth element

The first step is to assume the “holding the ball at the belly” or “Earth Palm Stance”, (shown later in the course) standing meditation posture. This method uses the same breathing technique as the water element, i.e. long inhale, short exhale. Next, imagine that the entire universe is all earth element. This element is a dense very heavy reddish-brown clay like substance and is thick like mud. Your body is a hollow shell, which you are going to completely fill with this thick heavy substance. Begin to inhale the earth up through your feet like a tree absorbing water from the ground filling your whole body starting with the legs. Your feet are like tree roots that have

burrowed deep into the earth. As you inhale the earth element through your feet and through the pores of your body you begin to feel your body weight increase significantly. With each successive inhalation, you feel heavier and heavier. Your physical body is also becoming extremely dense and quite hard. Through your imagination and concentration of feeling, you feel as if you are so heavy that you are almost paralyzed by the extreme weight of it all and become totally immovable to outside influence. You become heavier and heavier with each and every breath cycle. Circulate this dense heavy feeling throughout your entire body.

Now, begin to exhale the Earth element back into the universe. When you inhale, you simply take in normal air. As you exhale, you gradually become less dense and your weight decreases successively. Continue to exhale through your feet and whole body until your weight returns back to normal. You must feel as if no trace of the Earth element is left in you to be expelled. Through the practice of this exercise, you can make your body immovable and extremely dense and hard (see Iron Chi Gung). You may also develop the ability to make other people or objects feel or seem heavier by mentally filling them up with the earth element. There are also other abilities that you will discover in time, through continued practice of this particular meditation.

Accumulating Universal Light

For this exercise, you will start in the standing meditative posture shown above with arms raised and palms facing up. The breathing is even similar to the air element meditation, but as you expand your aura, you can use the breath retention technique. To begin, imagine yourself as an empty container ready to be filled entirely with vitalized life giving universal energy. You are completely surrounded by this vital energy. It is everywhere and it is everything. Imagine it as golden light similar to the color of the sun on a clear bright day. As you breathe in this energy through your entire body, you feel tingly, rejuvenated and electrically charged. With each inhalation, you feel the enormous pressure of this vital energy building up in your body. The pressure feels as if it is squeezing in on you externally, but expanding outwards internally as a type of struggling force. Now, visualize your aura growing brighter and brighter with each inhalation as the internal pressure builds up from the core of your bones like

compressed steam. Imagine your aura brilliantly radiating farther and farther (inch by inch, foot by foot) with each new breath, becoming stronger and stronger, glowing brighter and more penetrating. Now, at this point, your body is glowing brilliantly with pure penetrating white light glowing like the brightest star in the heavens and engulfing everything with its luminescence. Your radiating aura extends for several miles and is almost blinding in its illuminating force. Circulate this feeling throughout your entire body. Visualize your aura as a giant spinning hurricane of pure white light.

Now, mentally direct this energy into your dan tien (2-inches below your navel) until it is completely full. Hold your breath and mentally compress and squeeze in as much vital universal energy that your dan tien will physically hold. Now begin to exhale the remaining surplus energy back into the universe or send it to those who need healing energy. With each inhalation, you simply take in ordinary air. As you exhale this universal light energy, your aura begins to slowly dim from bright white to a golden yellow and becomes less and less radiant. Your energy level begins to return back to a more normal feel and the internal pressure subsides with the exception of your dan tien, which remains full of the highly condensed accumulated energy. Continue exhaling until you have expelled all traces of the remaining accumulated energy and you have returned to your normal state. As with all of the other accumulation exercise, start this one with only 7 to 10 inhalations and gradually work up to 20 or 30. At no point, should any accumulation exercise exceed 20 minutes in length. The student who has meditated and practiced diligently will find this element extremely versatile as its use is only limited by the practitioner’s imagination.

Elemental Protection

Once you have become proficient at each elemental meditation, you can incorporate them into your inner power meditation. Create the feeling of fire and project a guardian angel or red dragon that is a master of the fire element to protect you and your belongings. Create the feeling of lightness and project a guardian angel or green dragon that is a master of hurricane force winds, tornadoes or air element. Create the feeling of cold and project an angel or blue dragon that is the master of the water element, floods, tidal waves, ice storms, black holes. Create the sensation of heaviness and project an angel or yellow dragon that is the master of the earth element with the power to grant invincibility and phenomenal strength and generate earthquakes.

Harness the Lightning

Begin this exercise by standing in Wu Ji for 5 minutes and then move to holding the ball at the chest for 5 minutes. Then rotate your wrists to angle your palms slightly upwards (see top left photo) and feel electric chi building in your palms. Next, begin to pulse and repel your hands at one another as if building a large ball of electromagnetic energy between your palms. Squeeze the energy on the exhale and expand it on the inhale. Now, shift your weight into your right leg and slide your left leg into combat stance (see below). Left arm outstretched, right hand supported by earth chi, fingers forward. Rotate waist to face target.

Now from this posture, project your chi forward out into the distance. Visualize it as bolts of lightning shooting out from your fingers.

Another variation of this yinian activity is to visualize bullets coming out like a machine gun, destroying the target.

Cosmos Palm

This exercise starts identically to the prior lightning bolt exercise. Begin this by standing in Wu Ji for 5 minutes and then move to holding the ball at the chest for 5 minutes. Then rotate your wrists to angle your palms slightly upwards and feel electric chi building in your palms. Next, begin to pulse and repel your hands at one another as if building a large ball of electromagnetic energy between your palms. Squeeze the energy on the exhale and expand it on the inhale. Continue this for a full minute. Once you have a strong sensation of magnetic repelling like energy between your hands. Slowly turn your palms facing forward and try to feel the space in front of you pressing back towards you. In other words, you should still be able to feel the magnetic pressure upon your palms only this time its coming from the space in front of you instead of your opposing hand. Once you have tactile awareness of this energy, begin the Qigong exercise “Pushing Mountains”.

As you inhale, draw your palms inward towards your chest. Feel the magnetic like energy filling your entire body (Face, Torso, Legs & Shins). Hold and retain the breath for 1 full second and then exhale with the “Haaaah” sound (like fogging a mirror) as you press the palms forward.

Imagine that you are pushing something large and heavy. Continue this in and out motion for 10 or more repetitions. Each time feel and mentally intent that the energy becomes “Bigger, Thicker, Stronger, Heavier” making it more and more difficult for you to press forward with each successive repetition of the movement. On the last repetition, leave your palms pressed out in front of you and begin this meditation and visualization exercises.

Close your eyes and picture that each hand is inside of a clear glass sphere or bubble. Inside the spheres, your hands are radiating electricity, like a lightning storm, filling the spheres with flashing electrical bolts that are trapped inside the spheres. Visualize this energy as growing more and more intense, causing the spheres to glow brighter and brighter, like a light bulb on a dimmer switch being gradually dialed up to full brightness. As you do this, your hands will begin to tingle with energy (similar to the feeling when your foot is about to fall asleep, but pleasant). Continue the visualization and try to spread this tingling sensation throughout the entire hand, filling all of the fingers. Next, allow the energy to move down the backside of the hand into the wrists, traveling up your forearms to your elbows. At this point, your entire hands and forearms should be tingling with electrical like sensations. Continue to allow the energy to move up the arms to the shoulders so that both arms are completely filled with this vibrating energy. Next allow it to move down your spine and chest, filling the lungs, heart and rib cage. Then further down your body into the midsection so that your entire torso and arms are tingling with intense pleasurable energy. Guide the energy into your thighs and completely fill the upper legs. Then guide it down through the knees into the calves and shins. Now move the energy through the ankles and into the feet so that your entire body is buzzing with

energy. Now, connect with the earth’s magnetic energy and feel additional energy rising up in your body from the earth. At this stage of the exercise, inhale through your nose as slow as you can like smelling a flower with a light smile on your face. Picture people smiling back at you as you try to increase and amplify the energy sensations within your body. Mentally make the “Mmmmmm” sound as if you were savoring something delicious as you inhale through the nose. To close the exercise, open your eyes, relax your posture back to “Wu Ji” and return to normal breathing.

This concludes the material on Yinian activities during Zhang Zhuang practice. It should be noted that each yinian activity produces different effects and potentials. Although there are many other visualizations one can use, such as picturing yourself outside with abundant stars in the heavens on a clear dark night during the full moon, there are no clear documentations as to their purpose or effects. Once the underlying concepts and principals are understood, it is possible to create a wide variety of yinian activities that may produce an equally wide variety of human potentials. Only time and practice will verify if this type of exploration is worthy of further work. In any event, it makes for a very pleasant meditation practice and most certainly builds strong healing chi and tremendous inner power, which are the main topics of this material.

Many Masters transition back and forth from Holding the Tiger to Dragon Stance repeatedly in a training session to develop integrated strength. Hold the Tiger position for at least 10-minutes, and then slowly transition into Dragon for 10-minutes, then back to Tiger, etc. This should be practiced with a different lead leg each training session.

Spiritual Power Training Ilmu Batin

The word “Batin” is an old Aramaic word that refers to one of the many attributes of God. It means hidden or unknown and as a result it should be understood that all paranormal abilities as well as spiritual protection come from God or a higher power if you prefer. Healing and helping others is another means to developing spiritual power, which will be discussed later. The exercises in Spiritual Power Training remain unchanged, the only thing that is different is that one prays to their God based upon their individual beliefs and mentally chants or repeats various phases that acknowledge God’s divine attributes.

Prayer Example: Dear God, you are the one and only God, you are the most perfect, most holy all powerful supreme being. I am just a tiny spark in your infinite radiance for you are beyond all that I know and understand. I am like an invisible stain on your perfect purity, but I am trying to improve. Not just for my benefit, but for the benefit of all. Please bless me, my friends and family and all those that request help from me. Grace us with your strength, wisdom and protection. This particular meditation is almost identical to a Chinese Qigong called “Life Force Breathing”, which Sifu Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson taught in the early 1990’s, which used to be available as a guided meditation on CD if you choose to search for a copy.

Tension and Relaxation (Korean’s call this exercise “Shin Chook”) – Stand in Wu Ji posture with your hands at your side, feet about shoulder width apart and rest. Direct your thoughts to your Dan Tien located just below your navel and forcefully breathe inward to this point as you inhale. Hold and retain the breath for as long as it took for you to inhale. Then force your

breath out hard but slowly by tightening your gut and exhaling through pursed lips making the “Shhhhhh” sound. Repeat the slow, deep breaths, feeling the Dan Tien point continually. Develop a comfortable, slow deep breath rhythm to and from the Dan Tien. Your belly should expand with each inhalation and contract with each exhalation during this entire exercise.

Now as you continue the breathing method, direct your thoughts to the big toe on the left foot. Wiggle it around, then contract it by grabbing the floor with it, and hold the contraction. Now, contract the right big toe in the same way and hold. Now, contract the remaining toes of your left foot by squeezing the floor with them. Hold the tension. Now, tense the remaining toes of your right foot the same way and hold. Make sure to continue your proper breathing. Now tense the arch of your left foot followed by tensing the arch on the right foot. Hold. Tense your left heel; plant it deep into the floor. Hold. Tense your right heel and hold. Tense your left ankle. Hold. Tense your right ankle. Hold. Left calf muscle tense. Hold. Right calf, tense and hold. Left knee tense. Hold. Right knee tense and hold. Left thigh, tense. Hold. Right thigh tense hold. Buttocks, tense hold. Lower back, tense. Hold. Abdominal muscles tense and hold. Upper back, tense and hold. Chest, tense. Hold. Neck, tense hold. Left shoulder, tense hold. Right shoulder tense, hold. Left upper arm, tense hold. Right upper arm, tense hold. Left forearm, tense, right forearm tense, hold. Now, place your left hand in a tight fist, hold. Right hand tight fist. Hold. Your entire body should be in a state of tension. Hold that tension and continue to breath to your Dan Tien for 10 full seconds, then relax your entire body by releasing all of the muscular tension. If any part stays tense, rub it while trying to mentally relax the area.

Vibration Exercise 2: After the Shin Chook exercise, relax for 2-minutes in Wu Ji while breathing and directing your attention to the Dan Tien feeling energy build in this lower energy center. Now, place your palms on your “solar plexus” or 3rd chakra and continue to breathe as before, but direct your attention to the solar plexus for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, raise your hands to your chest in “Prayer Hands” posture and breathe directing energy to your heart center for 2 minutes. After two minutes, squeeze or press your hands against one another (Position 1). Inhale slowly as you squat down (Position 2) pressing the hands firmly against one another. As your body descends into the squatting posture, picture and feel chi coming into your body in through your crown filling you with powerful universal energy from head to toe (Review: Accumulating Universal Light). As you rise up from the squat posture, exhale slowly and forcefully through pursed lips making the “Shhhhh” sound pressing your palms up above your head while squeezing them together (Position 4). As you rise upwards from the squat, feel the

Earth’s powerful magnetic energy rising up your legs and out your hands. Think of yourself as a powerful vacuum pump. As you descend, you pull down the heaven chi (star energy) and as you rise, you pull up the earth chi (magnetic energy). Visualize in your mind’s eye that each repetition is causing your aura to expand and thicken, becoming more powerful and dense with pressurized radiant energy as you accumulate heaven and earth chi. Repeat in multiples of 9. In other words, perform this exercise in repetitions of 9, 18, 27, 36, 45…etc. Breathing is basically equal, with the inhale taking about the same amount of time as the exhale breath. Breath retention in between inhalation and exhalation is very short and should only be a brief 1-second pause.

Vibration Exercise 3: Stand in Shaolin Nei Jing Yi Chan horse stance posture with your arms out in front of you and your palms facing the earth. After 5 minutes or so, allow the earth energy to raise and lift your arms up to chest level. Slowly push your hands forward until your arms are fully extended with palms still facing the earth and supported by its energetic force.

As you begin to inhale, slowly tighten your hands into a fist as you pull the arms in towards your stomach. Gradually increasing the tension as you pull

the arms in. Twist and rotate your wrists so that the butt end of your palms are facing up when you get to the inner most position (See below).

From this position, increase tension in the entire body and retain your breath. You can sniff in more breath here, but do not exhale. While holding your breath, slowly press your clenched fists forward (like controlled push ups or bench pressing) and rotate the butt ends of the palms toward the earth’s surface until fully extended. Continue to hold the breath inside as you pull the arms back to your stomach again. Repeat this pressing and pulling action for as many repetitions as you can comfortably stand until you feel the need to exhale. (See next step). When you need to exhale open and release the fists and press your open palms forward making a very forceful “Shhhhhhh” sound. Visualize people or things being blown away by your internal force. Breathe normally for a few breath cycles and then repeat the procedure for a total of 10 sets.

Protection of personal property other individuals or pets. Energetic protection is a 2-step process used to protect another person, pets or individual property. The process basically involves prayer (based on your beliefs) followed by actual projection or release of accumulated inner power obtained from your meditation and training practices.

Step 1 Prayer: Pray to the creator (or universe) based upon your beliefs asking for permission to allow you to protect the person, animal or thing. Also ask the creator or universe to protect them as well if it is the will of heaven. In your mind, see the person, animal or property being surrounded by a shield of energy. Give thanks to the creator or universe for assisting you in this task.

Step 2 Energy Protection: Hold your right hand approximately 6 inches away from the person or object you want to energetically protect. Inhale deeply holding your breath until heat and pressure builds in your stomach. Then purse your lips and blow the air out very hard (making the Shhhhh sound) while moving your hands in a clockwise circular motion. Do the circular motion in multiples of 9’s. For more powerful protection do the circular motion 108 times. Imagine the energy you have stored in your stomach from the inner power exercises and spiritual training coming up your body and out of your right hand.

Distant Protection of property, person or pets: If you cannot be physically present, simply imagine the person or object is currently in front of you (or use a photograph) and follow steps 1 and 2 above. You can also print out and use a protective pyramid for long distance

protection. If the pyramid is going to be used for long-term protection, you should periodically recharge it by repeating steps 1 and 2 based on your gut feeling or intuition. For optimum effect, it is helpful to keep the completed copy of your protective pyramid in your purse, pocket or wallet so that it is in your energy field.

Print the above pyramid (or draw your own) and write the person or pets name on the inside floor of the pyramid. On the outside frame, write the names of God or a protection mantra such as: OM EIM HRIM KLIM CHAMUNDAYEI VICCHE NAMAHA. Then follow steps 1 and 2 on the prior page and project your energy in circular motion around the pyramid. When you do your seated meditation, you can also imagine that a protective

pyramid is surrounding you and also the person, property or pet you wish to protect. For example, the author has done this technique around his home and for the past 4-years. As a result dangerous thunderstorms have broken apart and divided into two, leaving clear skies above as the storms avoided the area. Praise & Gratitude to the creator.

Energy Healing

Healing others with your inner power energy along with your additional healing empowerments (Usui Reiki, Seichim, Kundalini, Pusaka and Vajra Tummo) is a very rewarding practice spiritually, emotionally and sometimes

even financially. Healing is a great way to build good karma and develop more divine virtues such as caring and compassion. Please study and apply the Reiki healing techniques provided with this course. Also study the healing technique and video used by the Yellow Bamboo method. It is a simple approach, but it works and is effective for many issues. May these healing gifts bring many blessings to your life. Testing Inner Power Exercises: There are many exercises or tests one can perform to build one’s confidence that they have developed inner power or protective Wei Chi (external protective energy). The first sign is simply becoming aware of your energy. The second indication is a strong sensation of magnetic repulsion between your palms as you try to squeeze them together. As your inner power builds, this simple exercise becomes increasingly more difficult.

Test 1: See if you can get another person to feel your chi by pressing energy at their palms. Some people are not open or sensitive to energy, but you should have a success rate of around 70% (2/3rd) if you have cultivated enough chi for general inner power defense or protection.

Test 2: Try to move someone physically with your chi using Empty Force. Have them stand relaxed in Wu Ji, while you attempt to push them backwards or pull them towards you with your chi. See our video example at: www.developyourenergy.net

Test 3: Make a light bulb or other fragile item unbreakable: Breathe in deeply to your Dan Tien. Retain your breath as long as you can physically stand it. Then as you exhale slowly, imagine that all of this energy is being transferred into the light bulb or other object. Affirm this mentally by saying “I am transferring tremendous strength and power to this object.” Repeat this process and energy transfer several times. The more you do, the denser and more protective the energy becomes. Once you feel confident, drop the item. Start with a lower height, maybe knee high and then continue to raise the height as your faith and confidence builds. Note: it is possible to make the light bulb as hard as stone. There are masters who can do chin ups on thin florescent light tubes with this technique and once they remove their energy, the bulbs shatter immediately. Test 4: Manipulate or extinguish a candle flame. You can use your yin and yang chi to cause the flame to bend in various controlled directions. You can also cause it to burn hotter and brighter or dimmer. It is not uncommon for the flame to flicker or flash somewhat like a strobe light alternating from dim to bright if you meditate (seated or standing zhang zhuang) in a room lit by candlelight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoaTTtX-WQU

Test 5: Moving small objects with your energy. Plastic and Styrofoam objects tend to work best. Simple test objects: Ping Pong Balls, plastic models suspended by a string, foam-packing “pop corn”, a straw cut in half and then pierced with a wood toothpick to form a “+” sign shape suspended by a string or enclosed inside a glass jar.

Test 6: Purchase or make a set of cheap wind chimes. They should be small chimes no more than 6 inches in length. Dollar stores often carry this type of thing or you can make one from small brass tubing from the hardware store. Hang the chimes up indoors and stand several feet away from them. Build up your chi, retaining your breath while focusing on the Dan Tien. Hold as long as you can without too much discomfort. Then, prior to the exhale, focus all of your attention on the chimes and exhale with and explosive martial arts “Ki Ahp” while throwing a palm strike towards the chimes. With practice and successive build up of inner power, you will be able to ring the chimes from impressive distances. There is a Japanese master who can ring a large bell with this same method from more than 30 feet away.

Note: Everyone is unique, with completely different skills and abilities. Don’t feel discouraged if you cannot perform any of the above tests or have difficultly with a specific test as they are really more for building confidence, trust and/or faith in your inner power than they are evidence of successful cultivation and development. One can have very good protective energy for self-defense application and still not be able to perform many of the above tests. In the end, if you simply perform the exercises provided and cultivate a kind compassionate heart, you will ultimately be successful when confronted by hostile situations.

Lunar Ritual:

Each month at the new moon, the lunar phase when the moon is invisible due to the Earth’s shadow, you offer a prayer that asks for an increase in your inner power each successive day as the moon grows in both size and luminescence into the full moon phase. At the full moon, you offer a prayer that asks for a reduction in sickness, bad habits or behavior to begin and continue each successive day as the moon decreases in size and radiance back into the new moon phase. At the new moon, you can pray for others or anything you want to increase including issues pertaining to wealth. For example, God please increase this person’s health and vitality each day as

the moon grows in strength. At the full moon you pray for anything you want to decrease, such as disease, sickness, destructive habits, addiction, etc.

New Moon Prayer Example: Dear God, I am so much weaker than thee and always will be. You are the strongest of the strong as you are the one and only Almighty GOD. I ask Lord that you increase my inner power, health and positive qualities each day as the moon, which you created increases in the sky so that I may use it to improve myself for the benefit of others. Your will be done! For this I am eternally grateful. Thank you. Amen. (You can also use the names of God discussed earlier).

Full Moon Prayer Example: Dear God, I am trying hard each day to improve myself for the benefit of others, but I am not as pure as thee. You are the Highest of the High. The Most Holy, Perfect, Pure Supreme God. I ask that you reduce all my weaknesses. Lord, please reduce all mental, emotional and physical disease and illness within me each day as the moon, which you created decreases so that I may be a benefit to all. Your will be done! Thank You Lord. Amen.

Note: Many internal schools of various lineages will fast for 2 or 3 days beginning prior to the full and/or new moon. Often eating nothing at all or only allowing for the consumption of water and rice until the lunar phase passes to purify the body and build inner power and a strong will. Fasting, combined with the above prayers, meditation and inner power training exercises tends to give the chi a strong electrical shocking quality that can really zap another person to the point of physical discomfort. In a truly defensive situation, this kind of energy would feel something akin to a taser

The following method is a simple yet highly functional way of converting sexual or reproductive energy into a powerful vital force for the entire body. In addition to having tremendous health benefits, this practice will also strengthen inner power development and will give you a more practical application to use this energy as opposed to wasting it on lustful indulgences outside of serious relationships, i.e. cheating and/or masturbation. The

reproductive energy is a powerful creative force that may be taken up in the body and transmuted into strength, health and vitality for the purpose of regenerating and invigorating the system instead of wasting it with no intention to produce a child.

The transmutation or conversion of sexual energy gives great vitality to those practicing this method. It results in tremendous inner power, which can outwardly manifest as irresistible charm, personal magnetism and charisma in your everyday life. The practice itself is simple and effective. The energy once converted can be directed towards other channels or objectives and utilized with great advantage by the practitioner. Nature has condensed one of its most powerful forms of Chi (The power to create) into reproductive energy. Placing tremendous power in a small space, as the reproductive battery and urge to procreate is strong in all animal life.

This exercise may be performed at any time, but is best when one feels sexual urges or impulses, which are indications of active sexual force. To begin, sit in a chair (breath deep with an even in and out rhythm) and build the sensation of an energy ball between your palms. Once you feel the chi between your hands, point them at your sex organs and breathe the chi into the sex center. Smile as you perform this exercise. Inhale with a sense of enjoying or savoring, mentally making the “Mmmmm” sound. Exhale with a sense of excitement, mentally saying “WOW”. As you feel the energy build, begin to pull or draw it upwards during the inhalation or in breath to your “Solar Plexus” or upper stomach. You can use your hands to pull it up towards this center (located just above the navel). With practice, you will

feel the internal movement of energy moving up from the sex organs to the 3rd chakra or solar plexus.

Other energy centers can be vitalized with this method as well. For example, if you desire an increase in mental force, you can draw the sexual energy up to the forehead. If you desire improved communication ability, you would draw the energy up to the throat. Bringing the sexual energy to the heart makes one fearless and compassionate. For a short time, it may make you feel emotionally sensitive and quick to tears as your feelings of love and caring for others are dramatically enhanced.

Thought Projection: We now approach a phase of the general subject of inner power, which is highly important, as well as most interesting to the student, because of its striking and startling implications. This phase consists of the deliberate, conscious projection of inner power into the aura of another person, or persons; or into the general atmosphere of an entire crowd of people. This

method has been called the "direct flash," because it resembles the brilliant explosive flash of speed gun or camera.

The "direct flash" is the technique utilized in projecting a positive influence in the direction of others. It is a mental command backed up by the combined physical, mental and spiritual inner power. The basics of the method are: (1) The forming in the mind of a specific command accompanied by a mental picture of the desired action on the part of the other person; (2) the mental gathering of inner power combined with the emotion of “desire” or “wanting” into a single force; and (3) the deliberate and intentional discharge of the combined command, imagery and emotion or "flash" by the will. All you need to compete the instruction regarding the method of using the "direct flash" is a little further instruction regarding the use of the will in projecting this "deliberate discharge."

Direct Flash: The key to the "direct flash" consists in the deliberate action of the will in projecting or "flashing" into the mind of the other person a certain direct statement or command, backed up by all the inner power energy within you. This comes easily and rapidly as the result of a little practice. And, moreover, you may practice in private, standing before your mirror, until you acquire the mental mechanical ease, which is necessary.

Preliminary Exercise. Stand before your mirror; gaze positively and firmly at your own image therein, just as you would gaze toward another person. In fact, you must try to imagine that you are really gazing at another person.

Then, send that imaginary person – pictured by your reflected image – the message: "I am stronger than you!"

Now, try to get the exact meaning here. You must not rest content with merely thinking or saying the words of the magnetic command given – you must cultivate and develop the actual willing of the command, just as you would will the raising of your hand, or the clenching of your fist. You will find it necessary to cultivate this power of “willing intent”, for your belief will not at first coordinate with the power of your will. You could not very well will your hand to be lifted, or fist clenched, unless you actually believed that the thing itself were possible. In the same way the little child has to first learn the possibility of his using his will, deliberately, in performing physical actions. He first sees others performing certain actions, and the idea gradually dawns upon him that he, too, may do them. Then he begins to use his will, awkwardly at first, in directing the muscles as required. In the same way will you have to develop your ability to use your will deliberately in the direction of this form of personal magnetism? But by a little steady, earnest practice before the mirror, you will soon master the mechanism of the thing – the rest will be all a matter of practice upon persons.

In projecting the message, "I am stronger than you," you must accompany the effort of the will (by which you send forth the thought-command) with a strong mental conviction that your are much stronger (energetically) than the target, along with the firm belief that he will be impressed by this fact and will submit and accept your command. You must get yourself into the mental attitude of demanding that he accept your statement, not that you merely request him to do so. Just like a Drill Sergeant commands a soldier to

perform a task. In this form of magnetic influence there is no such thing as "requesting" – it is all a matter of "insistent command" – do not forget this. When you merely request, you usually take on the second position, giving to the other person the top spot. But when you command someone, you take the first place, yourself, and reduce him into the second. In practicing before your mirror, remember this, and endeavor to raise yourself into the first position. You will know when you have accomplished this, by the odd and peculiar feeling of superior energetic strength that you will experience.

After having mastered the above exercise to your own satisfaction – that is, until you have thoroughly acquired the feeling of mastery, and energetic superiority, when you project the flash of command – you may proceed to the following, which is based upon the first, and results from it. You will feel like beginning to try your mind power upon other persons, but you would do better to wait until you have thoroughly mastered the mechanism of mental-magnetism before the mirror.

This second stage of the preliminary mirror exercise is summed up in the word of mental magnetic command, which you address to the imaginary person represented by your reflected image, viz.: "I can command you to act." This, as you will see by a careful consideration of the words, is really a tremendously powerful statement, and it will require a great exercise of our power of belief, and mental imagery, to get yourself into the proper mental state, so that the power of the will may travel easily on its path to enforce the command. Remember, that in order for the will to be able to move smoothly over its channel, so that it may reach the mark, it is necessary that you clear away any obstacles that may remain in your own mind. It is enough for the

will to have to fight and break down the obstacles in the mind of the other person, without also being called on to combat and overcome the obstacles within your own mind. So, you must practice regularly and get yourself into the proper mental state, before you can ever hope to mentally influence others.

When you send forth the mental command to your reflected image, you must concentrate a tremendous power of meaning in the statement, "I can command you to act." The statement must be accompanied by the full force of your own conviction and firm unshakeable belief that you can command, and that you will be obeyed. In order to do this, you will have to arouse in yourself the full consciousness of your own inner power or force, so that you can feel it vibrating in and around you. You will have to re-read these instructions several times before they will become perfectly clear to you. In fact, you will have to begin practicing, and then re-reading them between exercises, before you will get the full meaning. The meaning will gradually unfold into your understanding, as you proceed with your practicing. It is just as if I were giving you directions as to mastering the art of skating – you would not really grasp the full meaning of the instructions until you began actually practicing on the ice – and each time you would refer back to the book, you would perceive a new meaning to the words and instructions. So it is in the case before us – you will understand the instructions fully only when you begin the actual practice and start progressing forward.

Now, after you have gotten to the point in the mirror-practice where you are able to actually feel that you have sent forth to the reflected image the command that you are stronger, thereby forcing the other person into the

second place energetically – and also that you can command the other person to act as you will, thereby placing him in the subordinate capacity of action – you may proceed to try upon the reflected image some special commands in the same spirit. Now do not fall into the error of supposing that all this mirror-practice is merely "child’s play." If you do, you will be making a great mistake, for it is anything but play or idle pastime. It is the learning of the mechanism of the "direct flash," before you start in to run the machine in earnest. It is like the period of preliminary practice in anything, which precedes the actual performance. It is the rehearsal, which must precede the play. Do not fail to faithfully perform the rehearsal exercises, before you begin to manifest your mental power in earnest. You must fully acquaint yourself with your magnetic machine before you begin to run it in earnest.

The preceding practice exercises may be followed by a similar practice of sending forth "flashes" of anything that you may wish to actually send to other persons later on. You may supply these commands for yourself, or you may practice on the following excellent commands, all of which are likely to be used by you in your actual manifestation of personal power.

These commands may be varied, of course, to suit your individual needs or tastes. They must all be delivered before the mirror, in exactly the same manner as previously stated:

"Look at me!"

"Give me your full attention!"

"Come this way!"

"Go away from me – let me alone!"

"You like me." "You love me"

"You will do exactly as I wish you to do!"

"You want to please me!"

" You will agree to my proposition!"

"Get out of my way!"

"You are attracted towards me!"

"I fascinate you!"

"I am your MASTER!"

"Come! Be quick, and do as I tell you!"

"You are receptive to my wishes!"

"You are responsive to my will!"

Exercises in the Direct Flash

Now, having mastered the preliminary mirror-exercises, you re ready to begin your experiments on real persons. But here too, you must crawl before you can walk and run. You must begin with the simpler forms of mental influence, before you can accomplish the more complicated or difficult tasks. But, you have now emerged from the kindergarten stage, and are ready to practice in earnest. If you have faithfully followed the instructions in the mirror-practice, you have mastered the mechanism of magnetic influence, and are ready to "run the machine" in the pubic arena. But do not for a moment lose what you have gained in the mirror-exercise. Hold tight and fast to the "technique" you have acquired, and do not for a moment fall into the error that you must now begin everything all over again. The thing for you to remember always, is that you are really but carrying the mirrorexercises forward on a higher scale, in a broader field. You will find some interesting work ahead of you. Take my word for it.

First Exercise. This is an exercise that is almost always given to beginners, by the best teachers of magnetism. It consists of the process of causing a person ahead of you, on the street, to turn around as if he had heard some one call out to him by name. The process is very simple. You have but to walk some little distance behind the other person, on the street, park or other public place. Concentrate your fixed attention on the person, gazing at the lower back part of his head. And sending him first a strong flash of magnetic force, this being followed by the "direct flash" command; "Hey you! Turn around," just as if you were actually calling out aloud to him. You may even whisper the words so softly that no one else can hear them – this may help

you to put the “willing force” into the command at first, but you will soon outgrow the need of the same. At the time you send the flash command you must actually WILL that the person will around in your direction. Put all the magnetic force within you, in this effort.

You will find that in some cases that some other person will turn his head almost at once, and look inquiringly behind him in your direction. In the majority of cases, however, he will take a longer time about it. He will be apt to first grow uneasy and restless, and begin by glancing from side to side, as if looking for some one; then he will almost (but not quite) turn his head around; then, finally he will glance backward somewhat furtively and suspiciously. No two persons act precisely alike in this respect; and then again, the same person will act differently under different conditions. There are certain times at which the conditions seem to be more favorable than at others, for various reasons, as you will discover for yourself.

You will find, in this as well as the following other exercises that the best results will be obtained while the other person is proceeding idly along, without his attention being distracted or directed particularly in any direction or task.

When the attention is free, the mind is more open to outside influences. When the other person’s attention is firmly fixed upon anything else, it will be found very difficult to mentally influence him to any marked degree. This is the result of an established rule of psychology, and will be found to be operative in all cases, as for instance, if you call a person when he is preoccupied either with deep thought, or else when his surroundings-he will

probably not hear you call him, though under other conditions he would turn quite readily. The same rule is of course, operative in the case of energetic mental influence.

Second Exercise. When in church, theatre or other public place, or even in a room full of company, fix your gaze at the lower back of the head of some person in the place, and send him the "direct flash" command: "Hey, you! Turn around and look at me!" Using all the inner force within you, and putting the force of your will and visualization back of the command.

You will notice the same peculiar result as in the preceding exercise, i.e., the fidgeting in the seat, the uneasiness and restlessness, the final quick turn of the head in your direction, followed by the confused expression of countenance. In both of these cases, you should maintain a calm, uninterested gaze ahead, apparently not noticing the person. It is not well to have persons get the idea that you are experimenting upon them, at any time. There is no power so potent as the silent, reserved power. So keep your own counsel, and do not scatter and weaken your force by talking about it to others - far less by boasting about it. There are certain good psychological and occult reasons for my admonition regarding keeping your own counsel, and not dissipating your energy by talking about it, or revealing it to others.

Third Exercise. This is a variation of the first exercise, and consists of making the person ahead of you turn to the right or to the left while walking ahead of you. This may follow your exercise of making him turn around. When he approaches another person, send him a flash to move to the right, or to the left, as you will. You may also command a person in like manner

when he is approaching you. You will be surprised at your success in this direction, after a little practice. In the case of a very sensitive subject, you can cause him, or her, to zigzag in a somewhat comical manner. Do not overdo this however, or you may defeat your own object, besides being unkind to the sensitive person. Remember, you must reap that which you sow.

Fourth Exercise. This is a variation of the second exercise, and consists in making the seated person, in front of you, turn and glance to the right, and then to the left, as you will. During the exercise, which may extend over some time, you may obtain some very marked results from the experiment, in some cases. As before, I caution you against going too far with the experiment, lest you be noticed by others, and also, because it is not fair to the subject.

Fifth Exercise. In this experiment, you command the other person to drop his cane, or umbrella, cell phone, etc., or her fan, handkerchief, etc. In short, you cause the other person to perform some type of little muscular action under the control of your will and command.

Sixth Exercise. The above exercise may be varied by sending passing persons various commands while you are seated at your window, or on your porch, etc. You may put in an interesting hour in sending flashes to the passing crowd, one at a time, of course, and then noting the percentage of successes. You will find that the percentage will vary; but the general degree of success should slowly but steadily increase, on the average. Do not make the tests too complicated, but send the flash to perform some very simple

motion. You will be surprised to discover what a large percent of the persons will glance in your direction, even though you have not particularly commanded them to do so. This latter result occurs because of general attraction that they will feel toward you, by reason of the influence of your inner power development.

Seventh Exercise. Prior exercises advised you to look directly at the other persons, in sending the flash, this is not absolutely necessary after you have fully acquired the "mechanism" of the flash. In fact, after a short time, you will be able to obtain the result even though your eyes are turned in another direction. It is not your eye that influences them, but merely that by gazing intently you manage to firmly concentrate your attention and will in their direction. You may try the experiment of gazing straight ahead of you in a public place, or on the street, and then flashing the command to the other person to look at you, and you will find that you will meet with quite a large percentage of success, particularly after you have succeeded with the gazing plan of procedure.

Eighth Exercise. After having mastered the above exercise, you may proceed to a still higher form of magnetic influence, namely, that of influencing the speech of another person. You proceed in this case in the same general manner as in the exercises just given. When a person is speaking to you, you may "put words into his mouth" by a strong mental command, or magnetic flash. Do not try to make him say a whole sentence – at least at first. Rather begin by waiting until he pauses in his speech, and then strongly will a certain word to him – a word that will naturally fit into his sentence – and he will be very apt to repeat it. After a little practice you

can make him repeat an absurd word, or to stammer, halt and stutter in his speech, if you so will it. After still more practice, you may succeed in causing him to repeat a whole sentence, or even more, to express the thought you have put into his mind; or to ask some question which you have willed that he should ask.

You will readily see by this time, that a constant practice along these lines, will result in your acquiring the power to mentally will and energetically influence another person to do many things, in response to your inner power, and silent commands. In fact, a constant development along these lines will make of one a very giant in magnetic mental power, whose results are proportioned only by the degree of inner power or force of other persons, or the degree of persistent practice and development on your own part.

We caution you, at this point, against using this power for any unworthy purpose. This caution does not arise from merely a moral motive on my part, but from knowledge of certain spiritual laws, which cause a "reaction equaling the action," and which will bring sorry results to you if you violate the rule. So long as you use your newfound power for purely scientific experiments, or legitimate purposes of human association, all very well and good. But never prostitute your power to accomplish unworthy or criminal ends, lest you become involved in a storm of your own raising - or enmeshed in a web of our own weaving. There are certain spiritual laws, as well as physical laws, which must not be broken – and this is one of them. This is particularly true of the case of a person using inner power for the purpose of influencing the other sex in an immoral direction. All the old occult writers’

caution particularly against this practice. So heed the advice, and do the right thing only, with your power.

It should also be noted that many illnesses, diseases and the like have an emotional or mental source as the primary cause to the afflicting issue. Using your inner power mental abilities to “direct flash” thoughts of “I can heal you”, “You are healed” or “I command you to be well”, etc. along with visualization may prove to be an exciting area to experiment and research.
