DESIGN OF A TWO LEVEL BUILDING FOR THE MUNICIPAL MARKET AND A WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM FOR THE HAMLET EL SENEGAL, RIO HONDO, ZACAPA Rossio Alejandra Zometa Herrarte Civil Engineer Advise by Eng. Juan Merck Cos

SUMMARY For the municipality of Rio Hondo it is necessary to design the two level building for the municipal market, located in the municipal seat, currently they have a poor market and does not provide comfort for the population, because it is deteriorated. The market design presented has a structure of structural frames, the beams and columns support all loads of the building, will have 24 locations for sales, 2 administration offices, 6 bathrooms on both levels and 2 stairs modules.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE TOPIC

Senegal does not have a water supply system and local people obtain water from a surface source, but it is not always constant and they spend several days without the vital liquid. For this reason arises the need of the project, will consist of the catchment of water from the Colorado River, conduction line of approximately 8 km, storage tank of 25 m3 and distribution line. This project seeks to supply water to the population of Senegal for a future population of 249 habitants and a design period of 23 years.

The infrastructure project consists of the design of a two level building for the Rio Hondo municipal market with construction area of 508 m2, since the existing one does not cover the needs to provide a good service to the population. This will also include a bus terminal that will have direct access on the CA-9 road. This was taken as a priority because there is no area for access to loading and unloading urban transport, which is risky for the population due to continuous stoppages on the road, which can cause accidents to obstruct the visibility of vehicles who enter and leave the municipal seat.

This graduation work was carried out through the Supervised Professional Exercise (EPS) program, taking as its main objective the lack of basic services and infrastructure in the municipality of Rio Hondo, together with the municipal authorities, priority was given to design projects a two level building for the municipal market and a water supply system for Senegal, Río Hondo, Zacapa.

In Senegal there is the problem of the supply of water causing difficulties to the habitants by the lack of the vital liquid. It is for this reason that the design of the

water supply system will be carried out, so that the municipality can execute it and provide to the habitants. It has the conduction line of approximately 8 km, storage tank of 25 m3 and distribution line. CONCLUSIONS The projects that are the objective from the graduation work are the result of the prioritization of the basic services and infrastructure needs of the municipality of Río Hondo. Due to the benefits of the projects, the municipality must execute it as soon as possible. The projects budgets were prepared on the basis of unit prices, taking consideration of the cost of the materials, as well as the salaries that are handled in the area of Rio Hondo, so prior to the contracting of the same, the municipality must update them. The hamlet Senegal lacks a system of water supply, so that the proposed system will provide an improvement to the quality of life for the habitants, by supplying the vital liquid at all times, free of harmful pathogens or contaminants avoiding this way to health risks. The design of the two level building for the Rio Hondo municipal market was developed based on the criteria of ACI 318-11, AGIES and Conred, so it is important to follow fully the specifications contained in the plans, to provide the structural security of the building. The sustainability of the water supply is fundamental, as this can guarantee the correct operation, which is why the Cocode members of Senegal were trained on the operation and maintenance of the system and also

proposed a monthly fee so that it does not depend on the municipal budget and can be functional during the design period. The construction of the market in the municipal seat will benefit the municipality and mainly the local sellers, since they will have a suitable place where to carry out its commercial activities, giving each one a specific sales position; due to the importance that the project entails, it is necessary to manage before the corresponding instances, the financing for its construction. RECOMMENDATIONS To the municipality of Río Hondo: Properly follow the specifications contained in the project plans because altering or modifying them, will completely change the design. Ensure technical supervision by a civil engineering professional, so that projects are constructed as specified in constructive plans. For the water supply system, provide periodic maintenance to prevent deterioration and achieve proper performance for which it was designed. Apply chlorination of the proposed system for potability of water, otherwise it would cause harm to the health of consumers. Avoid deforestation of the area where the sources of catchment are located, to avoid a decrease in flow. BIBLIOGRAPHY 1.
