Avanc This odd creature from Arthurian legend usually appears as a giant meat-eating beaver. Don’t laugh. This thing can take a chunk out of the bravest of Heroes. It usually inhabits streams, rivers or ponds and lurks there waiting for unsuspecting prey to come down for a drink. Lacking mammals to feed on, the Avanc will also happily dine on whatever fish it can find. INT WILL PRE TECH REF DEX CON STR BODY MOVE OffX DefX

Doppleganger [Shadow Self, or Double Self] It is unclear whether this creature is netherworldy spawn of a single being’s psyche or an independent creature which associates itself with a particular person. However, it is said that the Shadow Self is rarely seen. When it is seen, it always is an omen of ill tidings. A person’s doppleganger only appears in extreme circumstances, or unusual conditions (for instance the person may be sick, dying, about to be killed or already dead). Dragon - Auld Wyrm This is a very powerful and old dragon that has gained magical powers and is highly skilled. Such creatures are fully capable of magics which transform them into less obvious shapes. However, it is said that such a creature can never change its shadow. These dragons are so magically powerful, they are often sought out simply to beseech them to share their knowledge. The one depicted here is an average auld wyrm dragon. Each one can look very different and have a different set of spells. Beware! With a SPD of 5, this creature can move supernaturally quick (two actions per Phase). Manticore This monster, said to inhabit the forests of India, Malaysia, and Indonesia was also known by the ancient Persians. This ferocious creature is said to have the head of a man, blue eyes, the body of a lion and wickedly sharp teeth. Its tail ends in a vicious ball of spikes which can be fired by the creature in rapid succession like darts from a powerful blowgun. The Manitcore is also noted for its fast gate and great jumping ability. Legends and superstition in the Middle Ages caused the legend of the Manticore to spread to parts of Europe where is became a true symbol of evil. Even into the early 20th centure, Spanish peasants believed such a beast sometimes roamed the countryside. INT WILL PRE TECH REF DEX CON STR BODY MOVE OffX DefX

Merfolk Seamen all over Europe often told of strange women and even men of the waves. These people had the torso, head, and arms of a human, but had a tail and fin like a fish. If the stories were true, perhaps they might be represented by this entry. These Merfolk may leave the water, gaining two normal legs in place of their tail fin and pass for human. However, they are creatures of elemental water, and must therefore submerse themselves in water once per day to rejuvenate themselves. INT WILL PRE

Yeti, Sasquatch or Fear Liath More These creatures may be the same species scattered about the world. Each has a particular culture associated with it. In your campaign you may choose to use Yeti (asian culture), Sasquatch (general Western culture), or the dread Fear Leath More (Celtic or Dawn of Legends settings). The Yeti is usually described has having reddish or grey hair, a very strong odor, and great strength. It’s height appears to vary depending on subspecies from 10' to 14' tall. This is similar to descriptions given to the North American Sasquatch, or Bigfoot, who is also quite hairy and stinky. The Fear Liath More (The Grey Man or The Grey Fog) of Scotland, in particular the mountain called Ben MacDhui has a particularly sinister aura. It’s presence is described as not only merely physical, but psychic as well. It has been known to induce fear so powerful that it can cause thoughts of suicide! It, too, is often has a description resembling that of a Big Foot. INT WILL PRE TECH REF DEX CON STR BODY MOVE OffX DefX
