Teacher tips. 1. Use Page 1 as individual Ws. or 2. Use Page 2 as CARDS (enough for 25 Ss) Cut and distribute cards (25 Ss + teacher). Draw the tree on BB with blank spaces or enlarge Page 4 and display on BB. (I used 2 sheets of flipchart, landscape positioned which I drew beforehand and I stuck it on the whiteboard at the beginning of the class). Fill in first oval for them – Teacher is ‘John’. SS read their cards aloud, find their place in the Family Tree and write their names in the blanks. The whole class collaborates to discover / complete John’s family tree. If you have less than 25 Ss in your card, delete some of the names. If you have more, add ovals to the diagram (copy-paste) 3. Distribute the second set of CARDS (Page 3). Ss look at the Family Tree and fill in the missing name on their cards. 4. Ask Ss to draw their family tree (up to grandparents). Work in groups if your class is large. Ss take turns to describe their family tree to the group. The rest of the Ss in the group draw the ‘tree’ described. Finally, they compare their drawings with the original.
