How a sign of intelligence is shown by animals that have different and special perception skills that some humans do not have. The authors state that through a study which evaluated animals explained that they are capable to help people with their abilities such as extreme perception and high intelligence. For instance, the forensic dogs which can find illegal activities by sniffing, some seizure respond dogs which have the ability to notice the cue of a seizure in advance and help people after the seizure begun. Not to mention to the fact that some seizure response dogs have become into seizure alert dogs without training and an example would be the case of Connie Standley whose dogs predicted a seizure even before it happen, so they do some feats such as bark at her or drag on her hand to a safe place. On the other hand, seizure alert dogs are similar to Clever Hans case because this horse wasn`t really counting, but was able to perceive and evaluate human signs, because the author acknowledge “… both, Hans and the dogs acquired their skills without human help”. The authors conclude animals are intelligence, only if you compare with others animals because humans` standards are not attributed to animals.
