a. Some people are biologically predisposed to become criminals. I completely agree, psychopathy is predetermined genetically and epigenetically. The MAO-A gene is, so far, the only example of how a genetic mutation can alter behavior. This gene, when altered, predisposes to have higher levels of violence. This gene is found, quite frequently, in people with psychopathic traits, and there is usually a correlation with those who suffered from child abuse. b. Crime is a consequence of poverty. I agree, that in some cases poverty influences, but it is not all due to poverty, because in all social spheres, we find people who have committed crimes and it does not have to do with whether the person is poor or rich , we must not ignore either, that a marginal environment, where the person is born unattended, with violence, abuse, abandonment ... influences crucially. However, it has been shown by numerous studies that there is more genetic weight and this could explain in part those cases in which many have not been mistreated or have suffered poverty and are criminals, or in cases where some have been mistreated are not criminals. c. A criminal cannot be reformed. I agree, that in some cases, it can be reformed, but in other cases I do not agree, the desire to change must come from the same subject and not by being forced, through education you can help them that change criteria and reorient them in terms of values. Currently from religion, there are criminals who manage to give a radical change to their life, but there are also that jail only serves as a restriction for a time because when they leave again they commit the same crimes. d. To reduce crime, we just need more police. I disagree, I think that in order to reduce crime what is needed is more education in values, in respect for the other and that education must start from the homes, which is where you should start to implement, prevention campaigns, by means of healthy raising patterns, if there are healthy families, society will be better. Also from the educational institutions, through the schools of parents and workshops, should encourage students a healthy living in society and campaigns to prevent criminal behavior. From the state, there must be more social justice, more social inclusion and fight against extreme poverty, which is one of the factors that generates more crime, due to the lack of educational and work opportunities. e. Some criminals deserve the death penalty. I completely disagree, life is a right that every citizen has, then it would be contradictory, to deprive a person of it.
