Drilling Phases Summary 26” HOLE SECTION 185 m MDRT to 659 m MDRT 02/ 04 February 2003 The CP N-8 shoe was collapsed, but was recover in September. So it was decided to run a BHA to control with a R.C.J. bit at 185m, after pulled out same, they ran a magnet but no metallic pieces were found. It was decided to run a BHA with a 26” bit to wash down without rotation up to 185m. A new stearable BHA was run with a motor bent at 1.83°. After attempted to pass the shoe from 181m to 185m with a WOB= 2/5t, it was pulled out to run a new BHA to washed down 1000l/mn, 250Psi and tagged the obstruction at 185m. At this stage they decided to run a Taper Mill, hanged up at 177.60m and milled from this depth to 189m. A new stereable BHA was ran to 189m without obstructions; they make a Gyro and drilled to 191.70m. At this depth, as a result of high torque they decided to run a BHA with a magnet, some few pieces of 30” casing were recovered. A new BHA was run with 26” bit rerun for finally pass over casing and drill out to 210m. A new BHA with a motor/sleeve 25”3/4 was ran, and drilled formation in sliding mode taking gyro survey every 10m up to 315m, taking 3.70° inc and an azimuth of 141.28°, they spaced out gyro survey 29m apart then 85m, sliding and rotating to the Total Depth of this phase at 659m.
17½” HOLE SECTION 659m MDRT to 2160m MDRT 15 February to 28 February 2002 The directional 17”1/2 BHA with a PDC bit was made up and ran in hole to the top of cement at 615m. The cement was drilled out to the casing shoe at 649m, the pocket washed and 1 meter of new formation drilled prior the L.O.T. The maximum pressure reached was 360 Psi for an Equivalent Mud Weight of 1.42 SG. Then the hole was drilled to 1501m without any problem as per directional drillers instructions. A bottom up circulation was performed prior a wiper trip to the shoe. While running in hole only the last stand was circulated to clean the bottom. The bit continued up to 2008 m where the rate of penetration was null. The bit was pulled out in back reaming mode from 2008m to 1947m then “wet” to the surface. The bit was in very bad shape.

A new BHA with a rock bit was picked up and made up then ran in hole to 1942m where they must wash down to bottom. This bit reached TD at 2160m as per directional driller instructions. A wiper trip to 1881m and a “hole clean” circulation on the bottom were performed prior to pull out the string to run the 13”3/8 casing. The 13”3/8 casing shoe was set and cemented at 2153m without difficulties. The new BOP’s were nipple up and tested before to pick up the 12”1/4 BHA.
12¼” HOLE SECTION 2160 m MDRT to 3190 m MDRT 01 March 2003 to 15 March 2003 After resolving the problem of inability of the wear bushing passing through the BOP stack, the 12¼” BHA was made up and run in hole to drill out the cement and float collar from 2116 m to the shoe at 2153m. The pocket, from 2153 to 2160m, was washed and 5 meter of new formation drilled prior the F.I.T. The maximum pressure reached was 1938 Psi to give an Equivalent Mud Weight equal to 1.93 SG. Then the hole was drilled with a PDC BIT to 2614m without any problem as per directional drillers instructions. A bottom up circulation was performed prior a wiper trip to the shoe. While running in hole only the last stand was circulated to clean the bottom. The bit continued up to 2776 m. The directional driller build up the angle up to 33°13. At this depth because of a slow rate of penetration, the bit was pulled out in back reaming mode from 2776m to 2584m then “wet” to the surface. A new BHA with a new motor setting (1.22) was picked up and made up then ran in hole to 2776m. This bit reached 3105m as per directional driller instructions, building up angle to 44°37. At this step, because of new provisional formation harder and a slow rate of penetration, they pulled out this bit. A new BHA with a rock bit and a new motor setting (0°00) was picked up then ran in hole to 3105m where the hole was washed down to the bottom. This bit reached TD of this phase at 3190m as per directional driller instructions to reach a drift of 42°03. The 9”5/8 casing was run and land at 3186m where it was cemented.

8½” HOLE SECTION 2190 m MDRT to 4117 m MDRT 22 March 2003 to 02 April 2003 A 8 ½” BHA was run to tag the cement at 3096m and to drill it out to the shoe at 3186m. The drilling progressed from 3190m to 350m as per the Directional Drillers instructions. Losses were recorded at 3240m, up to 7m3/hr were recorded; a 20m3 LCM pill was spotted in response, the losses were stabilized at 2m3/h then the drilling was resumed to 3454m. The bit was pulling out due to an over time rotation. A new PDC bit 8½” with a new motor set bent (1.15°) was run in hole, losses were 2.5 m/hr and increased to 8 m3/hr at shoe 3190m. At 3364m, 7m3 of LCM were spotted in response and the bit pulled back in the casing shoe. Many LCM pills were set to cure the losses, but it was impossible to stop them, so it was decided to drill ahead as soon as they were reduced to 2 m3/h.

8”½ HOLE SECTION 4730 m MDRT to 4941 m MDRT 04 January 2003 to 19 january 2003 The BHA #17 was run with a PDC bit to drill out the cement and to continue in the formation. Once on bottom it was very difficult to rotate with the top drive which one was stopped many times due to very high torque (> 4000 m*kg). So it was decided to pull out this BHA to include a motor to be able to slide if it was not possible to rotate even the BHA out of the casing. With the same bit in the BHA #18 it was possible to drill in sliding mode the cement, the shoe at 4720m and the formation to 4868m. But the torque was still too high to rotate so the directional driller cannot keep the angle and this BHA was pull out to remove the stabilizers. The new BHA #19 was made up with an insert bit and no stabilizer, once on bottom it was possible to rotate with a normal torque around 2000 m*kg. In normal conditions, drilling continued to 4936m where mud losses were detected. Making a flow check, the losses were established to 6m3/h in static, it was decided to continue drilling but at 4941m the losses reached 12m3/h while circulating and the decision to plug them was taken. It was impossible to maintain a stable static level but, after spot 5 LCM pills, losses at 600/ 800l/h were considered as acceptable prior to run the E-logs. Five E-logs runs were planned: the first (APS-HNGS-MDT) was made in TLC mode ; the second was the VSI, made inside the 5”DP ; the third one was the AIT-FMI-DSI-E ; the fourth was the FMI-GR-DSI-AITC ; the fifth was the FMI-GR-DSI-EMS. The new BHA #20 was decided to continue drilling to 4991mTD lossing 4m3/hr. Running liner 7” to 4575m losing 6m3/hr. Running Completion string tubing 4.5” to 4608m monitoring on trip tank losses 6.3m3/hr. Completion job.
