Death penalty outline 1. WHAT IS THE DEATH PENALTY? a. Definition: "The death penalty is the execution of a convicted by the State as punishment for an offense under the law" b. Fortunately, we can say that today more than half of the world's countries have abolished the death penalty in law or in practice. c. The United Nations proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to protect and defend the dignity and freedom of all human beings, regardless of gender, age, race, color, sexual preference, religion, etc. (Section three); and the prohibition of torture, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, simply by virtue of being human (article five). 3. Opinion a. Each execution increases the suffering in society and multiplies the number of victims of violence, leaving a large number of broken families. The death penalty is retrograde, then bet more to conditioning that education rather than punishment to avoidance of crimes. For the State is more convenient to prevent punish, intimidate they prefer to care and this situation can no longer continue. The death penalty is a violation of fundamental rights and the dignity of a person. It is an act of revenge, NO JUSTICE.
