Loading the ComPair Program 1. Place the CD ROM in the CD drive. 2. Go to windows explorer and click the CD Drive. 3. Click on Setup. OR 1. Select RUN in windows. 2. Type “CD Drive:\ComPair\Setup” Note: “CD Drive” is the letter of the CD drive; E for example.

L8 COMPAIR CONNECTION If the Computer does not communicate with the ComPair box, restart the Computer with the ComPair box connected and turned On.

LOADING CHASSIS 1. After entering Compair, Select File and then Open. 2. Select the TV chassis. 3. Turn the Compair unit On. 4. Turn the TV set On. 5. Select Quick Test and Continue to establish communication with the set. A “C” will appear in the upper right hand corner of the screen to indicate that the set is in the ComPair mode. Note: Once the ComPair is connected to the set, no other commands except power On should be given to the set via the Front Keyboard or Remote.

FTV1.9 ComPair OPERATION 1. Connect ComPair to the Computer and Display panel on AVC34. See Page 12 for AVC34 location. See TV section for instructions on loading and opening ComPair. 2. Turn the Computer On, Open ComPair, and select FTV1.9D. 3. Make sure the ComPair box IR sensor points at the LED on the set. 4. Turn the Set On and select the AV1 input. 5. Click on the Communication Icon.
6. Select Quick Test, then Continue to access test patterns. 7. Select Structured Diagnostics to troubleshoot the set.

Using ComPair with the CDR The following CDRs will work with ComPair: CDR570, CDR770, CDR775, CDR930, and CDR950 With ComPair it is possible to: Check Software version Check Mechanics (Disc Loader, Slider, Focus) Point-to-point troubleshooting Perform necessary alignments. If the CDM Unit or Loader assembly is replaced, the CDR must be aligned using ComPair. To align the CDR, the following is required: Compair CDR Interface 40 Volt DC supply. 1K ohm, 1% tolerance resistor (4822 050 21002). Voltmeter

Connect this cable to Connector 1818 on the CDR board.

After making any selection that communicates with the CDR, switch the CDR Off and On. When Compair communicates with the unit, the box above will disappear. The front panel of the CDR will blank.

To perform the Laser Alignment adjustment, connect a 40 volt supply in series with a 1K, 1%, resistor to Testpoint 11 on the Record Deck PCB. Refer to the instructions in ComPair and the Service Manual for additional detail.

The Codes on the new Laser will be necessary when performing the alignments.
