The Best Performance Cantilever Shaft Galigher’s cantilever shaft design eliminates the need for submerged bearings, mechanical seals or packing. Shaft deflection throughout the entire operating range is minimized by using large diameter shafts, rugged pedestals and dual volute casings. Double-Suction The double-suction, thrustless impeller design prevents airlocking and balances axial loads on the shaft and bearings. This design extends wear life and improves pumping efficiency. Dual Volute Hydraulics A unique dual volute casing balances radial forces on the impeller while minimizing shaft and bearing loads. Abrasive/corrosive fluids are pumped out through a single discharge pipe. Materials of Construction Galigher 5000 Series Vertical Pumps are supplied in a variety of elastomers to meet service requirements. Abrasion-resistant models are lined inside. Acidresistant models are lined inside and outside. All-metal pumps are constructed of cast or high chrome iron. Mechanical Ends Each pump size may be fitted with one of several mechanical ends to accommodate head requirements. These mechanical ends are designed for high, médium and low head applications. Heavy-Duty Bearing Assembly The mechanical end on Galigher 5000 Series Pumps uses a combination of heavy-duty, tapered roller and cylindrical roller

bearings. The lower bearing is protected from abrasive/corrosive fluids and destructive corrosive vapors by a specially designed tapered labyrinth-type grease barrier seal, backed by a lip seal. The large diameter shaft protects the bearings from excessive vibration and shaft deflection. Wet End Parts The casing, cover plate, impeller and screens are easy to access and quick to replace in the field. All impellers are dynamically balanced to insure proper operation. Impeller Adjustment The external three-point impeller adjustment is a feature on all pump sizes. A unique impeller-to-shaft anti-seize thread means easier impeller disassembly. Motor Bracket The motor bracket is mounted on the bearing column, eliminating the need to realign the motor and sheaves when adjusting impeller clearances. Suction Extensión A suction extension pipe is available as an option. The pipe is installed between the casing and lower screen and extends toward the bottom of the sump. It is available in lengths to 5 feet and fits on all pump sizes. Agitator Option The optional Galigher Agitator attaches to vertical slurry pumps to solve sanding-in problems. Constructed of heat treated, 600 Brinell, high-chrome iron, this tough, wear-resistant workhorse quickly bores its way through packed solids by creating a turbulent swirling actino around the pump inlet.
