Baby Pacifier Bear By Burnadette Burke DIRECTIONS

Easy SIZE

13 inches in standing position MATERIALS

• Baby pompadour yarn: 7 oz aqua 1 oz white • Baby yarn: Small amount yellow Scrap of tan • Crochet hook size D/3 • 2 black 12mm eyes with lock washers • 15mm black nose with lock washer • Fiberfill • #/4 x 14-inch strip of interfacing • Yarn needle GAUGE

6 sc = 1 inch; 6 sc rnds = 1 inch PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Loop stitch (lp st): Insert hook in next st, wrap yarn around left index finger from front to back, catch both strands of yarn around index finger, pull yarn through st, slip lp off finger, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook. The lp st stays to the back of the stitch, so the lp st rnds will be worked from the inside of the project. Loop stitch decrease (lp st dec): Insert hook in next st, draw up a lp st, yo, insert hook in next st, draw up a lp st, yo, draw through all lps on hook. Do not join rnds unless otherwise indicated. Use a scrap of CC yarn to mark rnds. MOUTH

Rnd 1: Starting at inside of mouth, with aqua yarn, ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Rnd 2: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] rep around. (12) Rnds 3–5: Sc in each sc around.

Rnd 6: Sc in each sc around, sl st to join in next st, turn. NOSE

Rnd 7: Ch 1, working in back lps for this rnd only, [sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] rep around. (16) Rnd 8: [Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] rep around. (24) Rnds 9–13: Sc in each st around. Stuff nose with fiberfill, using care not to let the mouth collapse; insert finger in mouth while stuffing nose. Sew nose to head. Leave 1!/4-inch sp between eyes; attach eyes to head centered above nose. Stuff head with fiberfill, and sew ears to head. Continue to stuff body with fiberfill as work progresses. Rnd 1: Attach white yarn in rem free lp of Rnd 1 of bootie, ch 1, sc in same st as beg ch-1, ch 3, [sc in next st, ch 3] rep around, join, fasten off. Row 1: Attach white yarn in end of Row 1 of bib, ch 1, sc in same st as beg ch-1, [ch 3, sc in next st] rep evenly sp around bib, ending at Row 1 on opposite edge, ch 40, leaving a length of yarn, fasten off. Row 2: Attach yellow yarn in first ch-3 lp, ch 1, work 3 sc in each ch-3 lp around outer edge of bib, fasten off. Place bib on bear, wrap the ch-40 around back neckline and secure at opposite edge of bib. ✄
