ALCA LUCENT 7750 SERVICE ROUTER AND 7450 ETHERNET SERVICE SWITCH INTEGRATED MEDIA MODULE
The Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router (SR) and 7450 Ethernet Service Switch (ESS) Integrated Media Modules (IMMs) are a family of 50-Gb/s, 100-Gb/s and 200-Gb/s (full duplex) line cards designed for high-capacity and high-speed IP/MPLS-based routing and services applications. The IMMs deliver high-density Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) and 10GigE, as well as support for SONET/SDH OC-768c/STM-256c, 40GigE and 100GigE interfaces with support for advanced traffic management with Hierarchical Quality of Service (H-QoS), a full range of Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing capabilities, Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN services and residential services.
2-port 100GigE IMM CFP
20-port 10GigE IMM SFP+
48-port GigE IMM SFP
Designed to enable service providers to keep pace with exponential growth in network traffic, the IMM family is optimized for locations in the network that require high-density GigE/10GigE, high-speed 40-Gb/s and 100-Gb/s interfaces, and high performance IP/MPLS routing and services. Available on the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR and 7450 ESS (SR/ESS), IMMs deliver up to 200 Gb/s of full-duplex line-rate performance. IMMs support a comprehensive set of IP/ MPLS-based protocols and advanced traffic management capabilities, making them ideal for high-performance routing applications, including edge service aggregation, IPv4/ IPv6 peering, IPv4/IPv6 multicast, Internet exchange peering, IP transit services and high-capacity edge-core connectivity. H-QoS and hardware-based shaping, policing, and traffic management are supported to ensure high-quality delivery of voice, video, IPTV and other multiservice applications. Support is also provided for the full range of Layer 2 and Layer 3 services, including virtual private wire services (VPWS), virtual private LAN services (VPLS), IP virtual private network (IP VPN) services and Internet access services. Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) support is available on all optical-based Ethernet IMM cards to enable the distribution of
precision network timing and synchronization over native Ethernet. Using SyncE, service providers can deliver reliable, high-quality, synchronous applications, including TDM voice, circuit emulation and synchronous mobile backhaul, over highly scalable and cost-effective Ethernet networks. Available on the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR and 7450 ESS, the IMMs are fully supported by the Alcatel-Lucent 5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM) and support in-service insertion and removal.
IMM LICENSING The features supported on an IMM are determined by the feature license purchased with the IMM. Feature licenses for IMMs are offered with tiered levels of functionality for Layer 2 and Layer 3. IMMs with Layer 3 feature licenses can add optional Virtual Private Routed Network (VPRN) licenses that determine IP VPN scaling supported on the IMM. IMM licensing gives customers the flexibility to purchase the license to meet current requirements with a simple, in-place upgrade to additional features without changing the IMM hardware. Tables 1 and 2 summarize the IMM feature licenses offered on the Alcatel-Lucent 7450 ESS and 7750 SR chassis.

IMM features and benefits • Flexible, tiered feature licensing allows customers to pay only for the functionality required and allows for in-place feature upgrades without changing the IMM hardware • Advanced H-QoS for assured service delivery on a per-subscriber and per-service basis • Line-rate ACL filtering with tens of thousands of configurable ingress/egress access control lists for highly enhanced subscriber management, security and control • Scalable IPv4/IPv6 routing (BGP, OSPF and IS-IS with traffic engineering extensions) supporting the full range of network routing and service delivery needs • Interoperability with existing Input/Output Module/Media Dependent Adapter (IOM/MDA) combinations, allowing con figurations to be deployed flexibly and seamlessly in existing environments, with full operational continuity • Extensive Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) tool set, which provides tightly integrated visibility, management and control of the platform, network and services • Fully managed by Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM
Ethernet IMM features and benefits • Up to 200 Gb/s (full duplex) of line-rate throughput line-rate performance that does not degrade as enhanced services are enabled
• ITU-T-compliant SyncE for distribution of precision network timing and synchronization over native Ethernet. Using SyncE, operators can reliably deliver synchronous-based applications — including TDM voice, circuit emulation services and mobile backhaul services — directly over Ethernet
• Configurable wavelengths span the C-Band, software configurable in 50-GHz increments, representing a total of 88 different wavelengths
• Comprehensive 802.3ah-based Ethernet service OAM capabilities. The SR/ESS IMM supports a comprehensive set of integrated Ethernet service OAM capabilities to speed service deployment and simplify operations, maintenance and troubleshooting
• ITU-T G.709 OAM support, including alarm indication signal (AIS), forward defect indication (FDI), open connection indication (OCI) and payload missing indication (PMI)
• Pluggable optics (SFP, SFP+, XFP, QSFP+ and CFP) with Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) for extended OAM support; DDM measures key optical parameters in real time to improve installation, activation and troubleshooting, while reducing overall operational costs • Provider Backbone Bridge (802.1ah) support for large Layer 2 network subscriber and network scalability needs • WAN and LAN PHY support options for 10GigE cards
40 Gb/s IMM with integrated tunable DWDM optics features and benefits • Two variants: ¬ 1-port OC-768c/STM-256c SONET/SDH IMM supporting OTU3 or SONET/SDH inside OTU3 framing options and data rates ¬ 1-port 40GigE IMM supporting OTU3 or Ethernet inside OTU3 framing options and data rates

• Standards-compliant G.709 Forward Error Correction (FEC) and Enhanced FEC (EFEC) algorithms extend optical reach for long-haul applications
• Comprehensive OTU statistics and show commands, including Severely Errored Seconds (SES), Errored Seconds (ES), corrected bits and uncorrectable sub-rows • Allows the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR and 7450 ESS to be interconnected directly to existing DWDM systems, thereby eliminating the need for external transponders and reducing cost and complexity • Provides operators with increased flexibility and efficiency in the use of DWDM wavelengths • Reduces the cost and overhead of maintaining spares for disparate wavelengths at each location • Used in transport of OC-768c/STM-256c or 40GigE across optical transport infrastructure, reaching 80 km without requiring optical signal amplification or dispersion compensation • For long-haul applications, EFEC provides additional coding gain to extend optical transport distances up to 2000 km, dependent on fiber conditions and amplification • When used in conjunction with Alcatel-Lucent transport equipment, Wavelength Tracker™ provides a powerful tool for streamlining end-to-end monitoring and adjustment of signal integrity across the network
