OBJETIVO DE APRENDIZAJE DE LA UNIDAD:

-Demostrar comprensión de textos orales adaptados y auténticos de hasta 60 segundos de duración. -Demostrar comprensión de textos escritos auténticos y adaptados de aproximadamente 300 palabras. - Producir frases u oraciones simples para demostrar comprensión. - Participar en diálogos guiados de hasta 4 intercambios usando expresiones modelo para saludar y despedirse y para solicitar y dar información con una pronunciación inteligible. - Escriben frases u oraciones simples para demostrar comprensión usando las marcas de puntuación. - Completar textos con palabras o frases. - Ordenar elementos de oraciones simples.

Desarrollar la comprensión lectora y auditiva así como también la producción oral y escrita de diferentes textos relacionados con elementos culturales que incluyen el uso de adverbios de frecuencia y conectores.

-Gramática: Conectores: and – or – because. Adverbios de frecuencia: always, never, usually, sometimes and often. -Vocabulario: Palabras relacionadas con celebraciones tradicionales, música y bailes.

-Comprensión auditiva: Usar el conocimiento previo para predecir contenidos, identificar información específica, reconocer participantes en una situación comunicativa -Comprensión lectora: identificar tipo y propósito de un texto, inferir significado de palabras en contexto, identificar secuencia de eventos. -Expresión escrita: Reconocer ideas para completar párrafos, presentar información en organizadores gráficos. -Expresión oral: Hablar a cerca de un tema, usar everyday English.

-Formación Ética: Relativos al respeto y valoración de modos de ser,pensar y valorar de otras culturas especialmente a través de la actividad genérica de post-lectura en que hay una invitación a reflexionar sobre el contenido del texto. -Persona y su Entorno: Referidos a la participación equitativa de alumnas y alumnos en pares y grupos pequeños, que el programa define como básico para muchas de sus actividades, así como, en la valoración de la identidad nacional en un contexto multicultural. El programa, además, incluye a manera de sugerencia ejemplos de planificaciones que refuerzan actitudes positivas respecto a la igualdad de derechos de la mujer y las personas, y a la cultura de la lengua extranjera.

LESSON PLAN 3 DATE: June 1st , 2010 LEVEL: 8th grade of primary school SKILLS: Reading EXPECTED OUTCOMES: to put into practice what they have learnt through the Unit (adverbs of frequency, connectors and words related to traditional celebrations) RESOURCES: handouts, pens. TIME INTRODUCTION:

LESSON PLAN 4 DATE: June 8th, 2010 LEVEL: 8th grade of primary school SKILLS: Listening EXPECTED OUTCOMES: to use previous knowledge to predict content and to recognize participants in a communicative situation. RESOURCES: Travelers book for students, travelers CD, whiteboard, copybooks, and pens. TIME INTRODUCTION:

The students will do a pre-listening activity that consists on predicting and matching, then for the next activity the students will listen to a record called “Top of the Pops” and they will do the following activities: checking their predictions and choosing the correct alternative. The exercises will be checked orally and on the board.

The teacher will ask the students to create some sentences using the new words recently introduced. The teacher will deliver the evaluated mini-test they did last class.

LESSON PLAN 5 DATE: June 15th, 2010 LEVEL: 8th grade of primary school SKILLS: Writing EXPECTED OUTCOMES: to organize ideas to complete and paragraphs and create simple sentences. RESOURCES: Travelers book for students, whiteboard, copybooks, and pens. TIME INTRODUCTION:

The students will write an interview with a real music/movie star using the questions that appear in a previous exercise. For the next activity the students must complete a dialog about their favorite music star with real information and practice it with their seatmates. This dialogue will be checked next class.

The teacher will go around the students’ seats checking their dialogs and helping them to correct the mistakes if there are some.

LESSON PLAN 6 DATE: June 22nd, 2010 LEVEL: 8th grade of primary school SKILLS: Speaking. EXPECTED OUTCOMES: to organize ideas to complete paragraphs and create simple sentences. RESOURCES: Travelers book for students, whiteboard, copybooks, and pens. TIME INTRODUCTION:

LESSON PLAN 7 DATE: June 29th, 2010 LEVEL: 8th grade of primary school SKILLS: Writing - speaking EXPECTED OUTCOMES: to be able to use the words and the expressions they have learnt. RESOURCES: Travelers book for students, whiteboard, copybooks, and pens. TIME INTRODUCTION:

They must complete a dialog and then practice it, after that they have to grade some music styles from 1 to 5 and finally they must do a crossword in order to check how much they remember about the lesson. The teacher will ask the students which are their favorite singers and actors.

The teacher asks the students to name the words they just learnt and its meanings in order to see how many of them they remember.

LESSON PLAN 9 DATE: July 13th, 2010 LEVEL: 8th grade of primary school SKILLS: Reading. EXPECTED OUTCOMES: To be able to identify the type of a text, to recognize textual elements and to identify the sequence of events. RESOURCES: Travelers book for students, whiteboard, copybooks, and pens. TIME INTRODUCTION:

The students read the text “Yerba Mate and The Guarani People” in a loud voice taking turns, each student will read till a dot and then another student will keep reading. Then they will continue doing activities related to this text like completing a diagram with information they must extract from the text and find the partner of some titles to form complete sentences putting them in the correct order (chronologically).
