1.4 COURSE DESCRIPTION TRI / SFI course is performed by a TRI (in compliance with AMC 1 FCL 905 TRI). The training course is divided in 3 parts: Part 1: Teaching and learning Part 2: Technical training Part 3: FSTD training
1.4.1 TEACHING AND LEARNING PHASE Teaching and learning course is based on a classroom course available in all SIM ATO approved center. Teaching and learning phase objective is to develop student TRI / SFI ability to train trainee’s in general aviation knowledge, to detect trainee’s weaknesses, to perform relevant assessment on trainee’s level, to bring trainee’s level to proficiency, taking in account all human factors aspect. Various training devices such as computer, slide projectors, blackboard, etc… are at instructor's disposal to conduct ground training Teaching and learning course is core course. It is not relative to specific aircraft type. To optimize students learning capability, ground instructors will organize a 10 mn break after each 55 mn of teaching. This sequence can be modified to comply with teaching constraints (+/-15 mn) Ground training will be planned with maximum 7 h 00 a day and 35 h 00 a week (see OPS 3-1-01 & 13.2

FSTD TRAINING The FSTD training will be planned for 12 hours (3 FSTD sessions). SFI/ TRI candidate will prepare and conduct briefing and debriefing for each session. Briefing will be in connection with each simulator session used. Time dedicated to the briefing before a simulator sessions is 02h00, including breaks and trainee’s questions Each session will be followed by 01h00 debriefing. Each SFI/TRI candidate will occupied the IOS station seat while the instructor TRI is on the jump seat. Pilots on left and right seat are the trainees during the session. On FFS 1, Instructor TRI / SFI will demonstrate to student TRI / SFI how to use instructor station On FFS 2 and FFS 3, Instructor TRI / SFI will only assist student TRI / SFI if required. The propose of this training is to practice IOS station and, in the same time, to be efficient in the training of the crew. GRADING : 1) During FSTD sessions (1, 2 and 3), the instructor candidate will use the grading method described in each SIM TRM as follow : Grading is based on a 4 level feedback scale from the instructor: 1 2 3 4 1: Demonstration level by the instructor 2: Manoeuver done by trainee with instructor guidance or assistance 3: Manoeuver completed by trainee but remain too slow or incomplete (no instructor assistance) 4: Manoeuver completed by trainee at an operational skill level Grey box indicates the expected trainee’s level at the training stage 2) After each FSTD sessions (1, 2 and 3) the SFI/TRI instructor will debrief the instructor candidate on “performance and competence” items described in the debriefing session document.
