TIÊ, THE BIRDY - CROCHET AMIGURUMI PATTERN BY MARIA HANDMADE DESIGN

MATERIALS and TOOLS

• Yarn: Red (Charme Círculo No. 3581) Dark gray (Charme Círculo No. 8323) White (Charme Círculo No. 8001) • Crochet hook 2,25mm • Yarn (for the scarf): Petrol blue (Amigurumi Círculo No. 2930) • Crochet hook 3,00mm • A pair of small pompoms or tassels (white and salmon) • Soft stuffing • Black embroidery floss • Scissors, tapestry needle, stitch markers, sewing pins.

SIZE

19 cm (7,5”) when made with Charme Círculo 100% cotton yarn and Clover Soft Touch crochet hook 2,25mm

CONSTRUCTION

Legs and body are worked together, from the bottom to the top. Head and wings are sewn to the main part.

NOTES

• Work in a continuous spiral, without closing off the rounds with a slip stitch. Use a stitch marker or a piece of contrasting color yarn to mark the beginning of each round. • Crochet tightly to prevent little gaps between the stitches. If needed, try a smaller crochet hook. • Stuff firmly your amigurumi. Use the stuffing to help you to shape your pieces. Before closing a part, check if you still need to stuff it a little bit more. • There’s no need to modify this pattern in order to make smaller or larger amigurumis. Simply use thinner or bulkier yarn, and adjust the size of your crochet hook.

COLOR VARIATIONS The female Tiê has different colors: Pale salmon (Bella Pingouin No. 243), dark salmon (Bella Pingouin No. 2221), dark gray (Bella Pingouin No. 1815), white (Bella Pingouin No. 002), acqua (Bella Pingouin No. 2699).

Tiê-Sangue (Brazilian Tanager, pronounced as chee-yay) is the bird that inspired this pattern. He is known for his bright colors, his melodious singing and as the guardian of the Atlantic Forest.
