Introduction This book assumes that you already know the basics of chess (how the pieces move), terms such as 'pin: 'fork: 'skewer; and how to read algebraic notation. If you need a refresher, Wikipedia has a lot of free information on the game, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess. Puzzles are given from the point of view of the side to move. If it is Black to move, the board is shown from Black's perspective. Each solution is given on a separate page following the puzzle. Also, be sure to sign up for the award winning Tactics Time Chess Improvement e-mail newsletter. It is free, and comes out about 3 times a week with a new chess problem for you to solve, a fun quote, chess improvement tips, and the complete game score. The main focus is on chess improvement and pattern recognition, and like this book has tons of positions that are new and never seen before from real games. You can see newsletter samples, and sign up at tacticstime.com/newsletter. You can contact us there as well if you have any questions, comments, or feedback. Please be kind and review this book on Amazon. We need your feedback to make the next version better. You can also share this book on Facebook to your chess friends. Thank you so much! Good luck and have fun with this book. Happy Tactics! Tim Brennan & Anthea Carson
