Como en el número anterior, la portada ha sido elaborada por alumnos de la Escuela. Para este número se convocó un concurso de ideas, cuyo premio era la publicación en la portada. En esta página aparecen algunas de las portadas presentadas a este concurso.

EDITORIAL Os damos la bienvenida a un número más de la revista de la EOI de Córdoba. Queremos agradecer Recientemente ha sido aprobado y publicado en el BOJA el Reglamento Orgánico de las Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas, por lo que ya se puede decir que contamos con una normativa propia, y dejamos de regirnos por la misma que los Centros de Enseñanza Secundaria, aunque, en el fondo, las dos normativas se parecen bastante. Entre las novedades que aporta este Reglamento cabe destacar la modificación del baremo de admisión de alumnado de nuevo ingreso, que ya no se determinará sólo por la edad, sino que tendrá en cuenta otros criterios. Además, un mínimo del 30% de las plazas disponibles quedarán reservadas para mayores de edad. Este nuevo baremo ya se aplicará a las solicitudes que se entreguen durante este mes de abril para el curso 2002/2003.

una vez más la colaboración de todos los que estáis contribuyendo a que esta iniciativa siga adelante, y os animamos a continuar participando en la elaboración de la revista en el futuro.

Otra novedad importante es que la Consejería de Educación nos ha dotado con el material necesario para poner en marcha una pequeña aula de informática. Próximamente vamos a proceder a su instalación, para que pueda estar en funcionamiento a comienzos del próximo curso, y así contar con un medio más para profundizar en el aprendizaje de idiomas.

CONSEILS DE BEAUTÉ

Si vous épluchez de l´ail et que vous ne vouliez pas que vos mains sentent l´ail, lorsque vous aurez terminé, sans rien toucher et sans vous frotter les doigts, vous laisserez couler l´eau en ouvrant le robinet, et vous vous frotterez les doigts contre le couteau sous l´eau. N´ayez pas peur de vous couper car ça marche aussi avec une cuillère ou quelque chose en acier si vous ne voulez pas toucher le couteau. Ça marche aussi avec les oignons! Si vous avez besoin d´ouvrir un bocal , mais que vous ne puissiez pas le faire avec les mains, ni avec un torchon, vous pouvez mettre des gants en plastique : le plastique évitera que ça glisse, et …voilà le bocal est ouvert! 'Si vous préparez une mayonnaise et que vous la vouliez bien onctueuse, ajoutez-y un yaourt nature, mais attention: il ne doit pas être sucré!

Pour avoir des ongles plus durs et moins cassants , vous pouvez les faire tremper dans du jus de citron. C´est bon marché, et en plus, ça marche! Vous pouvez aussi les faire tremper dans du vinaigre, mais ça sentira …beurk!!!!! Si vous voulez une crème exfoliante pour le corps, et que vous ayez la peau sèche, mélangez une poignée de sel fin avec de l´huile d´olive. Si vous voulez paraître très belle (ou très beau), vous n´avez qu´à sourire (avec joie, naturellement sans forcer), le plus souvent possible! Lola González, 3º A

VOYAGES ESCAPADES POUR LE WEEK-END Vous êtes stressés? Suivez-mes conseils! Nous sommes un groupe de femmes qui travaillent. Un jour nous nous sommes dit: “Que pourrions-nous faire pour lutter contre le stress du travail, de la famille, de la maison, des études?”. Nous avons trouvé la solution: ”la station balnéaire”. Nous avons préparé une sortie pour y passer un week-end. L´an dernier, nous sommes allées à la station balnéaire d´Alange, qui date de l´époque romaine. Elle se trouve dans la province de Badajoz près de Mérida. Cela fait trois mois que nous préparons la sortie de cette année. Nous partirons la semaine prochaine à la station balnéaire “El Raposo”. Nous nous baignerons dans de l´eau chaude et froide, on nous fera des massages et surtout, nous n´aurons rien à faire; nous mangerons à l´hôtel, et nous irons toutes seules, sans nos maris, nos enfants ni leurs grands- parents. Nous terminerons l´escapade par une visite culturelle de la ville. Dimanche soir nous repartirons chez nous. Ça va être génial! Maintenant, nous nous appelons: “ Les amies de la station balnéaire”. Trucs et Astuces Découvrez tous les Trucs et Astuces pour vous faciliter la vie!!!!!! BRICOLAGE - Odeur de peinture. Quelques goutes de vanille dans la peinture à l´huille... et l´odeur est 2 fois moins forte. Cela n´altère pas la peinture. A LA MAISON - Cuir. Pour nettoyer du cuir (vêtement, par exemple): utiliser un chiffon doux imbibé de blanc d´oeuf. En effet, le blanc de l´oeuf nettoie et nourrit le cuir tout à la fois. - Argenterie. Pour enlever l´oxidation sur un bijou en argent, frottez-le à l´aide d´une vieille brosse à dent et d´un peu de dentifrice. - Tache de Fruits. Une tache de fruits sur votre nappe. Prenez un peu de vin blanc et frottez. BEAUTÉ/ SANTÉ - Masque de beauté /recette.1. Mélangez un jaune d´oeuf avec du jus de citron et un peu d´huile d´amande douce. Appliquez sur le visage et laissez reposer 1/ 4 d´heure. - Masque de beauté / recette .2. Mélangez soigneusement 4 cuillères à soupe de farine avec un verre de lait bien chaud et 1 bonne cuillerée de miel. Finissez en ajoutant un peu d´huile d´olive. RECETTES DE CUISINE GÂTEAU AU FROMAGE

Tout d´abord, il faut beurrer le moule. Ensuite, il faut mélanger le sucre, le fromage et la crème fraîche dans un bol, puis le fouetter. Après, vous préparez la gélatine en suivant les instructions du sachet, mais seulement avec la moitié de la quantité d´eau recommandée; vous le laissez refroidir et, lorsque vous ne vous brûlez pas les mains avec la casserole, vous versez le contenu sur le mélange que vous avez fouetté, et vous le fouettez encore.

Maintenant, vous versez le mélange dans le moule, et vous le laisser refroidir. Après, vous le mettez dans le réfrigérateur et vous attendez 18 ou 24 heures (attention, les impatients! c´est abso-lu-ment nécessaire; sinon ça sera raté!). Enfin, vous plongez le moule dans un peu d´eau chaude, vous faites sortir le gâteau du moule sur un plat et vous le napperez avec un peu de confiture de votre fruit préféré. Régalez-vous bien! Si vous aimez le citron, vous pouvez le prendre comme dessert: d´abord, lavez-le, puis, coupez-le en rondelles et coupez aussi un autre fruit (une orange, une pomme, une banane…), placez un morceau de citron sur le morceau d´un autre fruit, et mettez un peu de sucre sur le citron.

Lola González, 3º A SALADE À LA PIÉMONTAISE Ingrédients (pour 4-5 personnes) - 1 kilo de pommes de terre - 3 tomates - 2 branches de céléri - 100 gr d’olives noires - 300 gr de yaourt à la grecque - 150 gr de fromage de brebis

- 50 gr de parmesan râpé - 5 brins de thym - 4 cuillères à soupe d’huile d’olive - 4 cuillères à soupe de vinaigre de vin blanc - 5 cl de lait

Faites cuire les pommes de terre en robe des champs. Épluchez-les et coupez-les en fines rondelles. Taillez le céléri en fines tranches. Effeuillez le thym.

Mélangez dans un saladier les rondelles de pommes de terre, les tomates coupées en huit, le céléri, les olives et le fromage coupé en dés. Étendez la sauce à l’aide d’une cuillère sur le mélange. Matías J. López Rodríguez, 4º B

LIVRES

LE HOBBIT Cet hiver, on a pu profiter de l´imagination débordante de J.R.R. Tolkien, en s´intéressant à son oeuvre écrite, grâce au film du metteur en scène Peter Jackson. Bien qu´il se soit permis quelques droits pour obtenir plus rapidement une histoire, on peut remarquer qu´il a été fidèle au récit du livre et à l´univers imaginé par Tolkien, qu´il aime bien. C´est un univers que la plupart des gens peuvent trouver fantastique, mais qui pour moimême est plus que réel. En effet, on peut trouver un rapprochement incroyable entre l´univers de Tolkien et le nôtre. J´ai lu les livres: “Le Hobbit” et la trilogie “Le Seigneur des anneaux”, quand j´avais quatorze ou quinze ans, mais mes souvenirs à ce sujet étaient plutôt vagues, voire inexistants! Malgré tout, j´ai vu le premier film et j´ai constaté avec plaisir que je me souvenais de la maison du Hobbit

ET et de Gandalf , le magicien; et qu´ils étaient justement comme je les avais imaginés auparavant! Après ça, j´ai voulu connaître l´histoire entière car je ne m´en souvenais plus, et j´ai relu les livres “Le Seigneur des anneaux”, de la première à la dernière page! Ça m´a tellement plu que j´ai relu “Le Hobbit”, dont Sandra m´avait très bien parlé, car ce livre lui a beaucoup plu. Elle dit (et c´est vrai) que c´est une histoire moins compliquée et plus facile à lire que la Trilogie. Au début, Tolkien introduit tant de personnages (surtout des nains qui sont habillés d´une couleur différente), qu´il nous est difficile de tous les retenir (en tout cas, pour moi, car je ne voulais pas interrompre la lecture, à chaque fois, pour me rappeler de chaque vêtement et de chaque prénom). Alors, j´ai fait des dessins pour les colorier sur lesquels j’ai mis les prénoms de chaque nain, et comme ça, l´histoire s´est déroulée rapidement devant mes yeux. La carte m´a beaucoup aidée (celle qu´on peut voir sur le livre,

FILMS et celle qui accompagne la Trilogie, qui est la plus complète) et bien sûr, mon dessin m´a été d´une aide précieuse. Au début, je ne savais pas que je devais dessiner treize nains!!! Alors, j´ai commencé par Gandalf qui est toujours vêtu de gris. Ensuite, j´ai dessiné Bilbo, qui m´est si cher, et je l´ai représenté avec une assiette, offrant à manger à ses amis, car il aime leur rendre visite et est très hospitalier. Au fur et à mesure que je dessinais, le dessin devenait de plus en plus simple, parce que j´ai compris (plus tard) que je n´avais pas assez de place. Et au fur et à mesure que je lisais, j´ai essayé de dessiner ce que j’apprenais sur chacun d´eux. C´est pour cela que j´ai redessiné Bambur, en plus gros, mais par contre Balin que j´avais dessiné avant, paraît plus gros. Je vais vous donner le secret des couleurs pour les vêtements: -Dwalin: porte un bonnet vert sombre et a une barbe bleue -Balin : porte un bonnet rouge et a une barbe blanche car il est plus âgé

-Ori: porte un bonnet gris -Oin: porte un bonnet marron (celui que j´ai représenté, en train de faire un saut, car les nains ont l´habitude de sauter) -Gloin: porte un bonnet blanc, c´est le père de Gimli, le nain qui accompagne Frodo pour porter la bague du mal -Thorin-bouclier-en-chêne, fils de Thrain, fils de Thror, roi du royaume qui se trouve sous la montagne. On le surnomme ainsi

car lors d´une bataille antérieure à cette histoire son bouclier a été plié par ses ennemis. Alors, Thorin a arraché la branche d´un chêne qu’il a utilisée comme bouclier. Eh bien, Thorin l´héritier du royaume qui se trouve sous la montagne, est vêtu d´un bleu aussi clair que le ciel. Et voici mon dessin Maintenant, c´est à vous de le colorier! Lola González, 3º A

UN PETIT VOYAGE À TRAVERS LA VIE ET L´OEUVRE DE BALZAC EUGÉNIE GRANDET, HONORÉ DE BALZAC

Nous écrirons quelques lignes, à propos de ce roman, et de son auteur, afin que tout le monde puisse avoir une petite image de ce grand génie de la littérature française. En premier lieu, nous parlerons un peu de la vie de l´auteur. Honoré de Balzac est l´un des écrivains français les plus connus du 19e siècle. Il est né à Tours en 1977, et il est mort à Paris en 1850. Il a commencé ses études universitaires à la Fac de Droit, mais très tôt, il va arrêter ses études pour se consacrer à la littérature, sa seule vraie passion. Au début, il a écrit quelques romans d´aventures; mais sans succès. C´est pourquoi il a décidé d´écrire des romans où il décrivait la société française de son époque; romans grâce auxquels il a eu beaucoup de succès. Il a appelé La Comédie Humaine, les 90 romans qu´il a écrits entre 1830 et 1850, mais il a aussi écrit 30 contes et 5 pièces de théâtre. Maintenant que nous avons une petite idée sur la vie de Balzac, nous allons raconter le thème du roman. Eugénie, le personnage principal, était la fille unique de monsieur et madame Grandet, qui habitaient dans une maison froide et silencieuse, à Saumur, ville française située au bord de la Loire, où se déroule l´action. Monsieur Grandet était un commerçant qui était devenu très riche. Il rêvait de marier sa fille à un homme très riche aussi. Mais, Eugénie aimait son cousin, Charles, qui était ruiné. Charles Grandet, neveu de monsieur Grandet, est venu passer quelques semaines chez son oncle. Dès qu´elle l´a vu, Eugénie est tombée amoureuse de lui, car il était très beau.

Le père de Charles, l´ avait envoyé chez son frère, car il allait se suicider, et ne voulait pas que son fils soit avec lui, à ce moment-là. La raison de son suicide, c était qu´il ne pouvait pas payer ses dettes. Monsieur Grandet a appris à son neveu la mort de son père et il lui a dit qu´il devait partir pour les Indes pour essayer d´y faire fortune. Comme Charles n´avait pas d´argent pour aller aux Indes, Eugénie lui a donné toute sa petite fortune. Avant de partir, Charles avait dit à sa cousine qu´il ne savait pas quand il rentrerait; mais elle lui a répondu qu´elle l’attendrait. Cependant Charles fait fortune aux Indes, oublie Eugénie, et se marie avec mademoiselle d´Aubrion. Lorsqu´Eugénie apprend la nouvelle, elle paie les dettes de son oncle, et comme elle se retrouvait toute seule, après la mort de ses parents, elle décide de se marier avec un autre homme. Mais, peu après, celui-ci meurt et Eugénie se retrouve une fois de plus seule. Pour finir, nous parlerons de l´importance de Balzac dans la littérature espagnole. Fernán Caballero, la première femme qui a écrit un ouvrage réaliste en Espagne, La gaviota, a lu Balzac. Elle a surtout appris à observer et à décrire la réalité, comme lui. C´est pour cela que grâce à Balzac, Fernán Caballero, introduit le réalisme dans notre littérature et c´est pourquoi il a tant d´importance pour nous. Nous espérons, avoir éveillé la curiosité des personnes qui auront lu ce petit voyage sur la vie et l´oeuvre de Balzac; afin que les gens lisent ce grand écrivain; car ce n´est qu´en lisant ses romans que nous pourrons avoir une idée de son génie littéraire. INTERNET UN REMÈDE CONTRE LA TIMIDITÉ DE NOS ADOS? Les ados “chats” font fureur sur internet. A toute heure du jour et de la nuit, on trouve des internautes connectés. On parle de tout et de rien, mais surtout de sexe, une façon pour ces derniers d´assumer leur autonomie, de surmonter leur timidité, et de faire des rencontres sans réelle conséquence. Internet est-il un remède contre la timidité des ados? Internet assure un lien avec le monde au même titre qu´un objet transitionnel. L´adolescence est le passage de l´enfance à l´âge adulte; c’est toujours difficile à gérer. L´adolescent doit à la fois assumer ses désirs d´autonomie, les changements de son corps, de son tempérament, mais aussi les faire accepter par son entourage qui est parfois aussi perdu.

Internet présente alors un avantage de taille: on peut y faire l´éxpérience de la rencontre, sans complexe; l´écran de l´ordinateur n’en révèlera ni la voix, ni les quelques kilos de trop. La réalité suit rarement le virtuel. La plupart des rencontres restent virtuelles. Les internautes ne font que passer deux ou trois conversations, et se lassent au bout de quelques semaines. D´autres utilisent le “chat” pour essayer de faire de vraies

rencontres. Si la rencontre a lieu, la réalité brise souvent le lien qui s´était créé. La personne n´est pas aussi belle ou aussi intéressante qu’ils n´avaient imaginé. Une histoire d´amour ou d´amitié véritable naît parce que les deux internautes ont su surpasser le virtuel: la plupart des personnes, garçons ou filles, naviguent sur internet pour le sexe. Le danger, pour les adolescents, c´est de ne pas savoir sortir de cet espace virtuel. Les parents doivent veiller à ce que leurs enfants ne se retrouvent pas enfermés dans un monde où on n´existe pas physiquement. Francisco Ruiz. 3º B

ET LA TÉLÉ EST ARRIVÉE À LA MAISON... Je me rappellerai toujours le moment où la télé est entrée pour la première fois chez moi. C’était l’émission du Festival d’Eurovision et c’était Massiel qui chantait pour représenter l’Espagne. En noir et blanc, bien sûr, mais ça nous attirait tellement qu’on oubliait que c’était un poste d’occassion et qu’il fallait mettre une grande antenne sur la terrasse pour recevoir les émissions. Tous assis devant l’écran flou, avec le son de la friture……..voilà qu’une nouvelle ère était en train de commencer. Depuis ce jour beaucoup de choses ont changé grâce à ou malgré la télé. L’avantage, c’est qu’on peut voir de bons films, des émissions culturelles, les informations au moment où elles arrivent, mais en même temps on a trouvé une excuse pour ne pas parler entre nous, entre parents et enfants..... Nous nous sommes habitués à avaler les images, sans à peine pouvoir choisir celles que nous voulons réellement regarder: la télé nous a abrutis. Soudain nous sommes bouleversés parce que c’est très difficile de se passer de télé. Mais je ne crois pas que tout soit perdu. Je vous propose un exercice de volonté, comme si c’était un jeu. Pensez que la télé est une fenêtre de votre maison, une grande fenêtre qui est fermée et que vous avez besoin d’ouvrir tous les jours. Ouvrez-la pour que l’air frais puisse entrer dans la maison, pour aérer la salle à manger ou la chambre. Ouvrez-la à l’heure que vous préférez. C’est magnifique, n’estce pas?. Et bien, au bout de quelques minutes, fermez-la. Quand j’étais petit et que je regardais Massiel qui chantait, je croyais que la télé était la fenêtre du monde, et ça me plaisait. Qu’elle soit toujours ouverte, ça dépend de nous, surtout les jours où il fait froid. Luis López Hidalgo, 3º C

Le yoga permet d´accéder à un grand bien être et à une une meilleure adaptation entre le corps et l´esprit pour la femme enceinte. Il va lui permettre de prendre conscience de son corps, en diminuant ses malaises et en améliorant sa relaxa-

tion, à chaque étape de la grossesse. La future maman pourra faire des exercices qui l´aideront à maîtriser son corps, la préparant ainsi physiquement. Elle aura alors une meilleure irrigation sanguine, une mobilisation de la colone vertébrale, un équilibre et une meilleure respiration. De plus, il existe des positions adaptées à

CONSEILS POUR ATTEINDRE LE BIEN-ÊTRE: MÉDITER POUR ÊTRE HEUREUX Cela vous est sûrement arrivé d’être assis devant une cheminée ou un feu de bois sans pouvoir lâcher des yeux le spectacle du bois qui flambe. Sans vous en rendre compte, vous étiez si concentrés qu´à ce moment-là, rien n´existait autour de vous.. Cette expérience, est sans aucun doute une méditation, car le temps qui passe est consacré à vivre uniquement le présent, sans penser au passé ni à l´avenir. Mais, malheureusement, c’est quelque chose qu’on ne fait pas habituellement. C´est la raison pour laquelle, je vais vous recommander un petit exercice facile à faire, dix minutes par jour, pour vous déconnecter du

monde et des problèmes quotidiens. L´ambiance est très importante, il faut se mettre à l´aise dans un endroit calme. On peut écouter de la musique d´ambiance en sourdine et personne ne doit nous interrompre. D´abord, on doit s´asseoir, le dos bien droit, appuyé sur un coussin, qui ne doit pas être très gros. Puis, on doit croiser les jambes en position du Bouddha. En troisième lieu, il faut appuyer la main droite sur la main gauche , et un pouce sur l´autre, relâché sur les jambes. En dernier lieu, il faut commencer à respirer profondément par le nez, en expirant et

en inspirant lentement; Il ne faut penser qu´à l´air qui entre et qui sort de vos poumons, pour enlever petit à petit, toute pensée de notre esprit. Ne vous inquiétez pas, si votre esprit ne peut pas se vider immédiatement, c´est normal, il faut l´habituer, et si vous le faîtes régulièrement, vous verrez bientôt les résultats, tels que l´amélioration de votre pouvoir de concentration lorsque vous étudierez; mais aussi la capacité d´affronter n´importe quelle épreuve dans la vie. Il y a beaucoup de gens qui ne connaissent pas l´origine du mot “bouteille”. Ce mot tire son origine du diminutif du mot latin ” Buttis”. Quand on parle du mot “bouteille” on pense à un objet en verre qui sert à garder du liquide. Mais les jeunes Espagnols ont inventé un nouveau terme qu´ils ont appelé ”botellón”. On fait allusion à tout ce que l´on boit les week-ends, sur les parkings et les places de notre pays. Les jeunes gens préfèrent payer 13 euros pour une bouteille de whisky ou de gin et trois ou quatres bouteilles de coca- cola que de les acheter dans un bar où ils doivent payer 6 euros pour une quantité six fois moindre. Les 5 et 6 février, à l’occasion du Mardi Gras et des journées culturelles, les élèves de français en ont profité pour mettre la main à la pâte. Tous, petits et grands, débutants et avancés, blonds et bruns, gentils et méchants, se sont drôlement régalés en dégustant les crêpes qu’ils avaient préparées auparavant sous l’oeil attentif d’Aurélie, notre stagiaire. Et on n’a pas fait que manger des crêpes et boire du cidre. On est gourmands mais on aime bien travailler dans la joie. On a écouté des contes et on a fait des jeux. De temps en temps ça fait plaisir de se retrouver tous ensemble dans une ambiance conviviale. Et tant pis pour ceux qui ne sont pas venus!

Se celebraron los dias 13 y 14 de Marzo y hubo actividades muy variadas. Animamos a los alumnos a que participen en próximos cursos ya que ello supone un contacto enriquecedor con otros alumnos que estudian el mismo o incluso otro idioma en la Escuela. MY MOST TREASURED POSSESSION This is the point of the story when I appear. I spent last Easter with Rocio and a group of young people. She liked the cross that I was wearing a lot, so at the end of an activity I gave it to her. Then she took her cross and gave it to

me. At the same time, she told me the long story. So this cross is a treasured possession for me because it reminds me of a great holiday spent with a great friend. When I´m having a bad moment I look at my neck and it helps me to become more lively. I feel like a link of a chain that I must continue. I´m waiting for the moment to leave the cross to another person, but I´m sure that it will have to happen in a special event of my life. For me things are not treasured for their material value: they are important when they come from love and friendship.

I´m happy because I´ve been thinking for a long time and I´ve come to the conclusion that I have a lot of treasured possessions. But if I had to speak about only one, I´d choose the cross that I wear around my neck. It is made of a painted seed. It is about six years old, but I have had it since April of last year. At the beginning, it belonged to Gema, a girl that I met last summer. She gave it to Rocio, her best friend, so it had a great sentimental value. Three years later Rocio went to a camp with a friend of mine, also called Rocio, and they struck up a great friendship. At the end of the summer they exchanged their crosses.

It’s the dream of their lives, a single chance that TV offers to the sixteen competitors who make an effort day by day in order not to be eliminated by a varied panel of judges made up of record performers, media personalities and management agency people. Only television is able to make these unknown people sell more than two million compact discs by singing the songs of other singers. The prize that the winner will receive will be his or her participation in “Eurovision”. The candidates are ROSA, BISBAL and BUSTAMANTE, followed by CHENOA (Laura Corradini, really). From the point of view of most of people, Chenoa would have to have been one of the finalists because of her ambition, her self-confidence and of course because of her great pretty voice, but the audience liked Bustamante more than Chenoa. A lot of female audience must have phoned to vote for him!! Although only the winners could take possession of the recording of their own disk, there are many competitors that had left the academy and have been able to record a disk: for example Natalia (The new Spanish Britney according to some people) is starting her career as a singer .She has started to

JEAN McKORNIN’S TWIN My name is Jean McKornin. I live in Erehwon, a small city in Kentucky. I am going to tell you my mother’s story. My mother’s name is Dana McKornin. She studied in a primary school in Oakville, Oregon. She was a very good student, and she passed all her exams. Dana played in a basketball team, but she didn’t play much since she was never a good player. Even during her childhood, she liked babies. All she wanted was to look after children. Now, she is ninety years old, but she is very active for her age. She worked in a small shop, and in her spare time she did a lot of manual labour. She has married three times. Her first husband, Hodge Bickhorn, was a very rich politician. When she married him she was twenty-two years old. She liked him but he didn’t. Hodge was a womanizer. They lived in Canterbury. He was tall, handsome, had blond hair and

blue eyes. He had three cars and a limousine to go to work. He worked at Queen Elizabeth II’s office. Everyday he sang “God save the Queen”, because he was very patriotic and useful to the Queen. Hodge worked for John Major’s office when he was Great Britain’s Prime Minister. Hodge was very unfriendly and he didn’t like visits. He set up a lot of cameras to spy pedestrians who passed in front of his house. Eventually he was killed by the mafia. My mother was very sad until he found her next husband, Richard Klain. Richard Klain, was twelve years older than her, but she liked him too. They got married in a small church in Oakville, Oregon, on 21/6/1954. One hundred people were invited. Mr and Mrs Klain lived in a cottage near the Adelaida river. He worked for NuwNuke® Company, a nuclear company in Oregon. They were very happy, but one day Richard died in a plane accident. The causes of the accident were a

mystery, but my mother thought that it was a human mistake. Hari McKornin was her third husband. He had lived in Canberra before metting my mother, then they moved to Erehwon. He worked for “Save the children” (an NGO) and he was perfect: he did the ironing, the shopping, the washing up and he could cook perfectly. My mother was depresed because her life was depressing: two former husbands, both dead. But Hari understood her and my mother got happier. They used to think about the future. They wanted babies and they decided that they wanted twins. They knew that one boy and one girl was best. One boy to play football, one girl to play with dolls. A girl for love, a boy for death. They didn’t want two boys or two girls; they only wanted their twins. One day she noticed that she was pregnant: she had twins. It was very important news because it was what she had been aiming for all her life. The gynaecologists told her that it was so strange a case that it was the first case in their state. Her pregnancy was sucesful and she felt very well and happy. On 6/ 03/1974 at 17:08 she started dilating, three hours later only ONE boy was born. The gynaecologists and other doctors can not explain what happened, and only I know this: I was that child, and in the night I can hear another heartbeat inside me and somebody calling me. Rafael V. THE INHERITANCE

Bob and Rita inherited his fortune but things weren’t so wonderful. A friend of Bob’s called Adam wanted to become rich. He was an ambitious person and he wanted to get the fortune so he thought of marrying Rita. Rita fell in love with Adam. They got married and she left him manage her fortune but Adam didn’t want to share the money with her, so he decided to kill her. One night Adam put a sleeping tablet in her drink. He said to Rita that Bob had phoned her because he wanted to speak to her in private. Then she got into her car and some minutes later she had an accident because she fell asleep while she was driving. She died.

In a few days he’s going to be twenty-eight and he’s spent over twenty years of his life studying to get a job... and eventually he’s got it. For nearly a year he’s been working as a manager for an important company where he’s tried his hardest to do his job the best he could. However, some months ago his company moved him to another city because business wasn’t going well, so that another person took his place: a man in his late thirties who has got quite a great deal of experience, but who lacks academic qualifications to do his knowledge credit. His transfer and the fact that another person had taken his place made him think that he hadn’t been successful and all his efforts had been useless. Then, what was the problem? He had had suitable training and studied at a good school and university, but nonetheless you weren’t provided with the necessary experience at these institutions. It would be important to open the way to young people who, based on a university degree, want to hold a job without having prior training. On the other hand, a strong academic education isn’t always necessary to carry out a job properly: it’s the day to day work that is essential to judge a good or bad professional. This new manager had come with a mission, had been provided with the means for it and was ready to carry it out. He made use of his experience only, but for him it was more than enough. For the younger manager this new job didn’t involve any personal challenge. Everything worked wonderfully well and his job would consist of leaving everything as it was. In the end, business did not improve: the problem wasn’t what to choose -experience or studies- because both of them are good at their job; the problems are somewhere else. Inma López, 3º C

Microwave ovens are made so that electromagnetic radiation does not get through its walls, but not all of them are safe enough. Did you know that? All of us can check if our microwave leaks radiation. There are two easy ways: (A) Put a mobile phone into the oven, turn it off and make sure it does not receive any calls. Close the microwave oven and make a phone call to your own mobile: if it doesn´t ring … that means that your microwave is airtight. (B) The other option is to put a glass with water just next to the microwave. Measure the temperature of the water with a thermometer and leave the glass there during the preparation of a meal. Once it is finished, measure the temperature of the water again, and if it is hotter, your microwave leaks radiation. In spite of everything, people still have doubts about the safety of eating food cooked by means of this device. Are you sure that they are playing cards and they aren’t doing something else? EH!… I know the answer to all these questions. He is an early retired captain of the USA Army and now he is working for the CIA. He is called Mr X. She is a Russian spy who is working as a pilot for American Air Lines. She is called Mrs Y. And now, you must be thinking this is a story about intrigues between countries, top secrets, stolen documents, spies and governments… Well no! Of course, in some way it is: he is working for the CIA. After leaving the Army because his ship sank, he decided to open a restaurant,… Where? On the first

floor of the CIA building. There, ten years later, he met Mrs Y, who was spying on new American coffee machines for her country. They fell in love immediately and got married after a week. But now she needed a new job. Then she saw an American Air Lines

advertisement which said: “PILOT NEEDED. ABILITY TO LAND ESSENTIAL”. “It’s mine”, she thought, because when she was younger she had done a CCC mail correspondence course. OK! That’s the answer to the first and second questions and

why they are together. Now, let’s go on… Not long ago, her Air Line Company went bankrupt and she became unemployed. On the other hand, he didn’t earn enough money in the restaurant after the outbreak of salmonellosis. So, they decided to rob “the money train”, which is the reason they are travelling by train. But they aren’t playing cards, they are finishing their plan and preparing their new “false” I. D. for their escape. And you’ll think: “But if they aren’t in a private coach, everybody will be able to see what they are doing”…No! Because they are in a nosmoking area, so they are alone. All the passengers and the security men are in the smoking area. So they’ll become rich before the trip ends. AIDS AND VIOLENCE AIDS?”. All knew about this disease was that was caused by a virus in the blood, how to prevent it if you were homosexual and the most terrifying thing, that it ends in suffering and death. The nurse finished the treatment and after giving me the medicines I shot off the question: “Was there any possibility of having been infected by AIDS?”. The nurse calmed me down explaining that the man didn´t get hurt so there wasn´t any blood contact, and in the case the knife could have been infected, the virus would be dead because it can only live a few hours in the open air. If I wanted to check the blood tests I had to wait about six months after the accident to get reliable results. It takes

that time for the body to create the antibodies. I felt so close to the disease that I began to sympathize with people who suffer from AIDS because they really need help. Everybody should inquire into AIDS, apart from prevention advertisements that all we know about. There is an important connection between AIDS and violence and it has become a problem. To get the drug, drug addicts need money, they usually don´t have. There are many different ways of stealing money from people but, unfortunately, there is a common one: attacks with infected syringes. It is a risk because addicts´s behaviour is very dangerous when they are cold turkey, they have double the strength and they are very aggressive. Anyone can get hurt. These people have nothing to lose because they are infected and, if they go to prison, they are let out in a short period of time. Finally, to my mind this way of infection can´t be prevented and nobody is free of this danger. Effective solutions are difficult to find but something has to be done.

CARMEN AND LINDA Carmen Medina and Linda Jones have exchanged lives – their jobs, homes and countries - for a whole year. We spoke to them about how they are finding the whole experience. Carmen, who is teaching Linda´s classes at Skyview High School in Billings, Montana (USA) is enjoying the challenge. Although she is not used to the noise and lack of discipline at the school, she says she is going to miss the students terribly. They have already heard of many Spanish monuments, and they are using the internet to find out more about Spain. She is also making the most of all the new opportunities that come her way. One of them is the visit to the Crow Reservation, and she will be back for a class on Crow language, beadwork and buckskin sewing. As a vegetarian, she also appreciates the wide variety of veggie and international foods available in America. She spends her spare time dancing and travelling, and plans to pay a visit to Vancouver, her home town. Carmen loves American people because they´re kind, warm and gentle. She´s treated so nicely and feels

appreciated. She has met Linda´s friends and family, and with them has been rafting and snowboarding. She usually gets up at 4.30 or 5.00 am because she loves getting up early, seeing beautiful skies, and the day seems longer, though she is ready for bed by 7 or 8 o´clock. In Billings people celebrate special days such as Halloween and Valentine´s Day, and during these periods she says everything is color-centred. Carmen is finding it difficult to get used to the temperature extremes in Billings – within a few days the weather can change from warm sunshine to snow! Another difference is the drinking age: in America one cannot drink until the age of 21 and Carmen´s daughter, who is with her, is 19 so they cannot go to bars together like they did in Cordoba. As for the music, it is similar to Spanish music but in America there is more of a country tendency to it. When it comes to accommodation, Linda seems to have drawn the short straw, for Carmen is staying in Linda´s massive two-story house, while Linda is in Carmen´s tiny flat.

However, Linda says she really enjoys living in a flat surrounded by the sounds of a neighborhood —children playing outside, music coming from the other flats and students calling to each other. She also likes the convenience of being able to shop so close to home instead of having to do all errands by car. It has been easy for Linda to adjust to her work schedule in Spain. She doesn’t have to get up until 8:00 or 9:00 and goes to bed around midnight or 1:00 a.m. Working in the evening and having her mornings free has been a good experience for her. Teaching in the EOI has also been a good experience. The students in her fourth-level classes are highly motivated and work very hard. They are wonderful to teach. The first-level students are much louder and more talkative than she’s used to in Billings, but she says she has become very attached to those students and will miss them when she returns to Montana. She hopes some of them will be able to visit her in Billings some day. Linda is impressed by the history of Cordoba. She’s amazed that there’s a bridge here that has been in use for 20 centuries. She

loves the architecture and has been thrilled to be able to visit the Mezquita-Catedral several times. Every time she visits she sees something that she hadn’t noticed in previous tours. She says that her life here is very different from her life in Billings. There, she went skiing, backpacking, rafting and kayaking. Here, she’s a tourist and she travels, looks at things and takes pictures. She also spends more time here walking and watching television. Linda comments that “Living here is like waking up in a different world and it’s exciting. I’ve learned a lot this year in Cordoba and I’ve made some very good friends with whom I hope to stay in contact.” Although both women have missed their friends and family,

they agree that the exchange experience has been valuable. Living in a different culture has helped them to understand their own cultures and countries better and both will be able to

PERSÖNLICHE MEINUNG Ein möglicher Gedanke, den man nach dem Lesen des Buches haben kann, ist: Ich werde nie heiraten! Oder ist das Eheleben so furchtbar? Es kann passieren, dass eine Beziehung wegen verschiedener Gründe unertragbar werden kann, aber, meiner Meinung nach haben die Personen von beiden Geschichten eine sehr extreme Entscheidung getroffen, um ihrem Problem eine Lösung zu geben. Man braucht jemanden nicht zu töten, um sich von ihm zu trennen! Ich frage mich, kann die Situation mit dem Ehepartner so schlimm sein, dass man keine andere Lösung findet als ihn umzubringen? Die Ausdrucksklarheit des Authors hat es mir erleichtert,die Gefühle der Personen in der Geschichte nachvollziehen zu können. Ich habe das Buch voll genossen und hatte eine schon fast vergessene Erfahrung: in Deutsch zu fühlen.

Das Buch besteht aus zwei Geschichten, die das Leben von zwei Ehepaaren beschreiben. Sie kennen sich untereinander nicht, haben nichts miteinander zu tun, aber sie haben einige Gemeinsamkeiten: sie sind mit ihrem Eheleben unzufrieden, und fühlen einen grossen Hass gegen ihrem jeweiligen Ehepartner. Beide Geschichten haben ein sehr tragisches Ende: der Tod.

einfach? Ist er einfacher als eine Ehescheidung? Wie viel Mut braucht man, um jemanden zu töten? Es sieht aus, als ob viel mehr Mut notwendig wäre, um ein neues Leben anzufangen. Andererseits: sie beide haben über den Mord lang vorher nachgedacht. Sie sind klug genug, um den perfekten Mord zu planen. Trotzdem können sie nicht gegen die Umstände kämpfen... Sehr interessant! Ich habe viel Spaß gehabt. Beide sind kurze und spannende Geschichten, die in schönen Landschaften stattfinden. Ganz widersprüchlich, ganz speziell ! Paqui Mialdea, 4º Alemán

Diese zwei Geschichten haben etwas gemeinsam: die Hauptpersonen, zwei junge Frauen, verheiratet, trostlos und wütend, denken dass der Mord ihrer Männer die einzige Lösung für ihr Leben ist. In der ersten Geschichte kann die Frau nicht gegen den sozialen Unterschied ankommen. Ihre Eltern bieten ihr keine Hilfe an, ihr Mann ist übermächtig und arrogant. Obwohl sie eine andere Liebe findet, ist eine Scheidung total unmöglich, weil sie katholisch ist. (Ich frage mich ob das ein realisticher Grund ist) In der zweiten Geschichte entdeckt die Frau dass sie ihren Mann nicht liebt. Sie hat Angst vor der Einsamkeit, deswegen heiratet sie, aber nach der Hochzeit fühlt sie nur Widerwillen und Überdruss. Das Leben wird jeden Tag langweiliger. Die Lösung der Probleme, der Mord, ist für mich total überraschend. Einerseits: ist ein Mord so

MEINE GELIEBTE STADT Meine geliebte Stadt ist eine, die ich mir ausgedacht habe. Wie soll ich sie beschreiben? Wunderschön! Sie ist eine weder zu kleine noch zu grosse Stadt, wo alle Einwohner glücklich und ruhig leben. Es gibt nicht viele Autos und Motorräder, weil sie die Umwelt zu schützen helfen wollen. Außerdem fühlen sie sich so sicher, dass sie kein Schloss für das Fahrrad brauchen, und sogar gehen sie gerne bis spät in der Nacht spazieren. Die Leute sind humorvoll und nett zu allen Besuchern, die im nächsten Jahr immer wieder kommen! Es gibt riesige Parks überall um den Fluss herum und die Straßen sind mit Bäumen und Blumen geschmückt. Man kann verschiedene Sprachen auf der Strasse hören: Portuguiesisch, Englisch, Deutsch, Spanisch, Arabisch... deshalb gibt es eine exotische kulturelle Mischung, die mit Toleranz und Frieden ausgebaut wurde. Wenn es nicht regnet, sind alle Kneipen offen und man freut sich über die Sonne und die Wärme. Jeder kleine Grund ist genug, um etwas zu feiern und um eine Party vorzubereiten. Wissen Sie, wer ich bin?” Natürlich antwortete niemand, sondern sie flohen so schnell wie möglich vor mir. Ich klopfte an meine Tür und ein junger Mann erschien: “Kann ich Ihnen helfen?” Ich beschloss nach mir zu fragen (die Notwendigkeit feuert den Scharfsinn an): “Frau Henkel, bitte?” “Es tut mir leid. Ich stand auf den Bahnsteig, um eine richtige Reise zu machen. Plötzlich fiel mir ein, dass ich Pa( und Geld zu Hause auf dem Küchentisch hatte liegen lassen. Aufgeregt rannte ich zurück in meine Stra(e. Oder war sie es gar nicht? Ich hatte den Stra(ennamen und meine Hausnummer vergessen… An keine von jenen Gebäuden erinnerte ich mich: “Wo ist mein Haus? Ich bin sicher, dass ich den richtigen Weg zurückgelaufen bin” - behauptete ich - “Ich muss wegen der Aufregung in die falsche Stra(e gegangen sein”. Unverzüglich drehte ich mich um und beeilte mich, sonst würde der Zug ohne mich abfahren. Ich bog in die erste Stra(e links ein, und ich befand mich auf einem ganz unbekannten Platz mit einer Reihe von Neubauten, die ich nie früher gesehen hatte. “Aber ist das nicht die Stephanskirche? Was ist denn passiert?” Ich konnte nichts au(er der alten Kirche erkennen. Ich blickte mich um und ich bemerkte die komischen Autos, die absolut ökologisch aussahen. “Und die Leute, warum tragen sie alle diese ganz nuemodische Kleidung?” Dann bemerkte ich, dass etwas Au(ergewöhnliches geschah. (Ich bin nie besonders aufgeweckt gewesen). “Das ist unmöglich. Ich kann nichts verstehen. Entschuldigung, wo sind wir? Wie hei(t disese Stra(e?”- fragte ich angstvoll einen Passanten. Er schaute mich verwirrt an und antwortete über meinen drohenden Gesichtsausdruck erschrocken:

ICH WÄRE GERN ... Ich wäre gern eine Blume, dann hätte ich Blüten mit vielen Farben und wunderbaren Gerüchen. Ich würde Minerale aus dem Erdboden ans Tageslicht bringen und ich würde mich in Nahrungsmittel verwandeln.

DIE DUNKLE ZUKUNFT

0Ich bin nicht zu optimistisch über meine Zukunft. Es ist immer schwerer eine Arbeit zu finden, deshalb werden die jungen Leute deprimiert.

Ich habe nicht viel Berufserfahrung, weil ich die Chance zu Arbeiten noch nicht hatte. Das ist logish aber sehr traurig. Obwohl ich eine Arbeit suche, finde ich keine. Wer kann mir eine Stelle finden helfen? Niemand zur Zeit! Ich möchte einen Beruf der mit den Sprachen zu Tun hat, weil sie mir Spaß machen. Aber Córdoba ist wirklich nicht der richtige Ort. Wahrscheinlich sollte die Bürgermeisterin etwas mehr Tun um unsere Probleme zu lösen. Ich bin schon fast dreißig aber noch lebe ich bei meinen Eltern. Kein Geld, keine Zukunft. Wie lange? INFORMACION SOBRE LA OFICINA JOVEN DE ACTIVIDADES INTERNACIONALES 2001/2002 El Ayuntamiento de Córdoba a través del Área de Mujer, Juventud y Empleo, Departamento de Juventud, puso en funcionamiento desde principios del mes de marzo del año 2000 la Oficina Joven de Actividades Internacionales. Este nuevo servicio surgió como consecuencia de la continua demanda por parte de los/as jóvenes en materias relacionadas con el ámbito internacional. Esta una nueva oficina está gestionada por una organización no gubernamental llamada Centro Andaluz de Iniciativas Internacionales. Nuestra labor consiste fundamentalmente en el asesoramiento a jóvenes cordobeses/as sobre materia tan diversa como empleo, estudios, becas o cursos de idiomas en otros países de la Unión Europea así como de programas europeos.

El año pasado más de 600 jóvenes participaron en distintas actividades. Entre ellas cabe destacar diversas sesiones informativas, un curso sobre las posibilidades de empleo y formación en Europa así como un intercambio juvenil con Suecia. Desde marzo del año 2001 por la Oficina Joven de Actividades Internacionales han pasado más de 274 jóvenes. Además este año se ha incluido un apartado nuevo: información turística sobre los países de la Unión Europea en la sección «Viaja por Europa». Pero os estaréis preguntando ¿qué puedo consultar? Las materias que se pueden consultar son las siguientes: EMPLEO: empresas de trabajo temporal, requisitos para poder trabajar en cualquier país de la Unión Europea, sindicatos, oficinas de empleo y demás direcciones de interés. ESTUDIOS: requisitos para poder estudiar en el extranjero, becas, universidades, cursos de idiomas y demás direcciones de interés. ALOJAMIENTO: albergues, bed & breakfast, hostales, hoteles. INFORMACIÓN TURÍSTICA. ORGANIZACIONES JUVENILES: direcciones donde nos podamos poner en contacto con las distintas organizaciones juveniles. RECURSOS culturales y de ocio.
