Present Continuous FUTURE ARRANGEMENTS

Present Continuous for Future

 Fixed future arrangements.

Next year I am travelling to London.

On Friday I am going shopping.

At 5 o’clock she is going to the doctor.

Form Affirmative sentences: I am seeing some friends tonight. He/she/it is seeing some friends tonight. We/you/they are seeing some friends tonight. Negative sentences: I am not leaving next Friday. He/she/it is not leaving next Friday. We/you/they are not leaving next Friday. Questions: Am I doing anything this evening? Is he/she/it doing anything this evening? Are we/you/they doing anything this evening?

Use

You can use the Present Continuous for future arrangements which we have planned for a fixed time or place.

The Present Continuous is specially common with the expressions: - Tomorrow -Tonight - This weekend/evening

- Next week/month/year - Next Monday/Tuesday…

EXAMPLES: 1)We´re having dinner at their house tomorrow. 2)She is traveling to Cuzco next week.

Don´t use the Present Simple for this. Don´t say: EXAMPLE: I see some friends tonight. I am seeing some friens tonight.
