Margie Roselle G. Opay Grade 11 STEM Random Acts of Kindness

(Monroe’s Motivated Sequence  Attention) How many times have you smiled and said hello to a person that you don’t even know? How many times have you stopped and said thank you when someone offered you a compliment? What about a person that has just dropped all her belonging on her way to somewhere? Would you stop and lend your hand to helping her? If your answer is not often or never, you should give your fully attention to what I’m going to talk today. Random act of kindness is a selfless act performed by people to either help or cheer up a random stranger, for no reason other than to make people happier. This means that people to be kind to each other especially to those they don’t know and help without any specific reasons It is not that hard to help people or perform any act of kindness. Random act of kindness usually happened anywhere anytime and not limited to a gender or race even to animals. I have recently become interested in random acts of kindness and by reading several articles about it and even tried it by myself. I have learned more about the impact these acts can have on people's lives. I would like to persuade you all to partaking in random act of kindness as random acts of kindness can brighten someone's day, save someone's life, maybe even change the world. (Monroe’s Motivated Sequence  Need) We start by looking at the need of random acts of kindness first. Throughout the nation, throughout the world, people are having bad days everyday no matter who you are. In fact, The Patron of the Philippine Psychiatric Association (PPA) said according to the 2017 National Health and Morbidity Survey, 29% of Filipinos had depression and anxiety disorder. How many times have you heard about people in the news who were so distraught or depressed that they decided to go shoot or killed a few people or even tried to kill their self? Remembered the case where the depressed mother killed her husband and 1 year old son, then tries to kill herself. And I'm sure all of you can recall having a bad day or feeling unhappy. As a student we tend to get ourselves into stress and deadlines of our everyday life. We forget to take time to offer some compliments to others. We often in too much in hurry to stop even just for a while and helps someone in need. But when we are in need and there is no one willing to help us we get angry and sad even get depressed. Unhappiness leads to more unhappiness. For example, a teacher/reporter having a bad day might yell at a student example me. Then I may go back to my seat and yell at my seatmate. Then my seatmate yells at her friend. It's a chain reaction where the unhappy was pass from one person to another. But there is a way to break a link in this chain. The smallest effort can stop this chain reaction and every one of you can do it.

(Monroe’s Motivated Sequence  Satisfaction) By partaking in random acts of kindness, you can change someone's day for the better, give someone a boost of confidence, possibly even save a life or eventually change the world. There are so many easy ways to be kind and every one of us can do this. Even right now you could tell our classmate next to you how good or great her presentation today. Or you could pick and return books or pen. Just think of the things you could possibly do for others or say that will brighten their day

If your shy enough to say hello to say thank you or even to make some compliment to someone. You can do something in form of action. For example. writing something positive or good to someone can also help to cheer up them. You can send a text or leave some note wishing them good luck for exam or thanks for something or tell how beautiful she is today. It something that would not take your times too long. You are not only going to make someone happy but maybe you have turn her whole days into something more good. According to a Greek proverb, "Kindness begets kindness”. It is true. Kindness is also a chain reaction. One act of kindness leads to another. For example, Maam Solano compliments you on how good your speech today. You will become happy, you will go to back to your chair and thank your seatmate for uplifting you. Your seatmate will also become happy and will compliment her other seatmate and so on and it all started with Maam Solano simple comment on a speech. No matter which way you choose to partaking in random acts of kindness, I guarantee it will be immensely rewarding. (Monroe’s Motivated Sequence  Visualisation) You are not only going to bring joyful to other peoples but also to yourself in practicing random acts of kindness. You will never feel badly about offering help to a stranger, or feel bad receiving positive, kind and heartfelt words from a stranger. The act is pure and brings both beings closer to the origin of human bliss. Depression is reduced. Researchers from the Institute for Research on Unlimited Love found that when people give themselves to acts of love, compassion, and service, they tend to become more satisfied with their lives and end up happier individuals. This is especially true if you start young. If you often feel down and blue, try looking for opportunities to show kindness to another person. Acting kindly towards others benefits to mental health by lowering stress levels. There are no disadvantages. It is a Win-Win situation. It doesn't cost anything, and we definitely don't lose anything by doing it. In fact, random acts of kindness will not only cheer other people up, they will make you feel good too. Let's admit it, when we compliment someone or lend a helping hand, we feel good about ourselves. (Monroe’s Motivated Sequence  Action). With all of the problems in the world, and the bad days that people are having sometimes all it takes to turn a problem into an opportunity, and a bad day into a smile is a simple act of kindness. According to William Wordsworth, "nameless, unremembered acts of kindness" are "the best portion" of a person's life and our prophet Elijah said: " GOD is kind and likes kindness in all things" so, go out there and demonstrate it in every way that you can. A piece of paper and pen you hold right now have a suggestion for a random act of kindness you can do today. Try one of them, or try one of your own ideas. Be honest, sincere, generous and kind. Who knows, the world may slowly become a better place because of a single random act of kindness. Let it be yours. Oh, and by the way, you are a TERRIFIC audience!
