Flexi BTS modules are installed on the floor, wall or pole using Flexi Mounting Kit for Floor, Wall and Pole (FMFA). The plinth is required for BTS site installations without a cabinet and it provides grounding points for BTS and module grounding. The mounting principles are the following: •





In floor mounting, the plinth is fixed directly onto the floor. To meet the Telcordia GR63-CORE Vibrational requirements for earthquake Zone 4 requirement, the maximum number of modules in a stack is five (maximum total height 15 U). To meet the Telcordia GR-63-CORE Vibrational requirements for earthquake Zone 2 requirement, the maximum number of modules in a stack is nine (maximum total height 22 U). In wall mounting, the plinth is fixed onto the wall either by using adapter mechanics (FMFA version 103 or older) or directly to the wall. The maximum number of modules per plinth is two. If using FMFA version 103 or older, in pole mounting the plinth is fixed onto a pole mounting kit (VMPB/FPKA/FPKC) by using adapter mechanics. The maximum number of modules per plinth is two. The FMFA delivery includes two fixing plates for the casings. Used in pole and wall installations, the plates are attached across two module casings on both sides of the modules.

The plinth has a back stop that prevents installing the BTS too near to a wall. FMFA dimensions and weight The dimensions and weight of the FMFA are presented in Table 2 Dimensions and weight of the FMFA.

Flexi Pole Kit (FPKA)

Flexi Pole Kit (FPKA) can be used with poles between 60 mm (2.4 in.) and 120 mm (4.7 in.) in diameter. The most commonly used size is 80 mm (3.1 in.). The FPKA can replace the VMPB Pole Mounting kit in installations where the pole diameter is less than 120 mm (4.7 in.). The width of the fixing points is 184 mm (7.2 in) and 64 mm (2.5 in). There are fixing points on three sides of the FPKA. The M10 screws should be tightened to 30 Nm (22.13 ft-lb) and the M8 screws to 20 Nm (14.75 ft-lb). The FPKA can carry the maximum weight of 160 kg (352.7 lbs). The delivery contents of the FPKA are listed in Table 5 Flexi Pole Kit (FPKA) delivery contents. Item

Flexi Mounting Auxiliary Bracket (FMAA) can be used to mount auxiliary boxes (FSEB, FSEC) in pole, wall, stack, or EMIA/EMIB installations. One FSEB can be installed to the Citytalk Cabinet without the use of FMAA. The FMAA is mounted to the top casing in horizontal stacks and the outer casing in vertical installations. The auxiliary boxes are then mounted to the FMAA based on their own installation principles. There is enough space for a maximum of one FSEC box and one FSEB box, or two FSEC boxes.

Flexi Mounting Covers for Back and Front are optional 3U (FMCA) and 2U(FMCB) module covers that are required in installations without a cabinet. The primary functions of the covers are visual protection and mechanical protection for the cables. Furthermore, the back cover protects the installer's fingers from the rotating fans. For installation instructions, see Installing back covers and Installing front covers in Installing Flexi Multiradio Base Station and Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station Optional Items. The FMCA and FMCB deliveries include a grounding cable. Note that a grounding cable is not included in any module deliveries. Flexi Power Module (FPMA) with a full configuration of two FPAAs and two FPBAs

Flexi Power Module (FPMA) is an optional module consisting of FPMA mechanics and AC and DC interfaces. It takes up to four sub-modules (Flexi Power AC/DC sub-module 200-240 V AC and Flexi Power Battery sub-module (FPBA/FPBB), which can be chained together with an alarm cable. For installation instructions, see section Installing Flexi Power Module (FPMA) in the Installing Flexi Multiradio Base Station and Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station Optional Items document. The FPMA can support 1-phase and 3-phase AC input. The nominal input voltage is 200-240 V AC (the operating voltage range is 180 - 276 V AC). The maximum output power from the FPMA is 4kW (with 4 FPAAs). There are following AC connection alternatives: • • • •

Single phase connection 230 V AC 3-phase star connection 230 V AC 3-phase delta connection, base voltage 100-120 V AC 3-phase delta connection 110 V AC

Flexi Power Module version 470139A.204 provides support for parallel operation of two FPMA modules in stack installations as well as Surge Protection Device (SPD) installation inside the AC connection box. The SPD is installed on a DIN rail with screws included in the FPMA delivery. Surge Protection Devices are recommended for outdoor conditions. Flexi Power AC/DC sub-module (FPAA) The main function of the FPAA is to provide the BTS with nominal 48 V DC power from an AC supply. Maximum DC output power of one FPAA module is 1000 W. A nominal 48 V DC supply is intended for BTS internal use only (a nominal 48 V DC supply is not intended for third-party equipment because they might require lower conducted emission level than EN55022 Class A). The FPAA includes its own integrated self-controlled fan. In case the fan fails, an alarm is generated and the FPAA has to be replaced (the fan alone cannot be replaced).

Flexi Multiradio AC/DC sub-module FPAA version 470140A.204 provides higher efficiency than FPAA version 470140A.101 – 102. Typical efficiency of FPAA version 470140A.204 is 95% @ 230VAC with the 40 – 90% load. Fan air flow direction of FPAA version 470140A.204 can be changed from back-to-front (factory default) to front-to-back in case when FPAA and FPMA is installed to a thirdparty cabinet. FPAA version 470140A.204 dust protection level has been increased from IP55 to IP65.

Flexi Power Battery sub-module (FPBA/FPBB) The Flexi Power Battery sub-module (FPBA/FPBB) is a separate optional sub-module used together with the FPAA. The FPBA/FPBB provides short-term battery backup time when the AC power mains is down on a Flexi BTS site. The FPBA is a Lithium Ion battery and the FPBB is a Lithium Ferrite battery. The maximum DC output power from one FPBA/FPBB module is 1000 W. The input power for the BTS cannot exceed the maximum output power of the installed batteries. Otherwise the batteries do not provide the BTS with the needed power during power failure.

Flexi Power DC/DC Module (FPDA) is an optional stand-alone 2 kW DC/DC module. When the BTS power load is more than 2 kW, multiple FPDAs can be installed in parallel. When FPDAs are used in parallel, a maximum of two DC cables can be installed together at each output terminal. Conducted emission level of the 53-55 V DC supply is according to the standard EN55022 Class A. The 53-55 V DC supply is intended for BTS internal use only (the 5355 V DC supply is not intended for third-party equipment because they might require lower conducted emission level than EN55022 Class A).

Flexi Rectifier Module (FPRA) CS7000000

Flexi Power Rectifier (FPRA) operation Flexi Rectifier Module (FPRA) is a modular 6kW output power AC rectifier package made up of three individual 2kW AC/DC power modules operating in a parallel mode configuration. The FPRA outputs a positive earthed –54VDC (V48N) as a respective BTS operational supply voltage rail and for site battery charging. It also includes a Power Distribution Assembly (PDA), which has a fully integrated battery protection LVD, load/battery circuit breakers, battery current shunt and alarm signals to the BTS EAC interface. It supports Flexi BTS configurations in indoor and outdoor cabinets, and stack, pole and wall configurations. The FPRA comprises of one PDA and one to three identical 2kW rectifiers working in a parallel mode. The FPRA has the following properties: •

Flexi Cabinet for Outdoor (FCOA) optional items This section describes the optional items of Flexi Cabinet for Outdoor (FCOA). Flexi Cabinet Air Filter (FCFA) The optional air filter (FCFA) 470146A can be added in case of extremely dirty environment (for fresh air cooled modules). The optional air filter provides cover for extremely dirty conditions by over-pressurizing the cabinet. The FCFA delivery includes the air filter and a wind plate. The air filter is installed in the back of the cabinet, replacing the original back wall. It consists of a filter element, eight axial fans, a control logic, and back wall mechanics. The pressure sensor is integrated with the control box. The wind plate is installed in the cabinet door. The control of the FCFA fans is based on a pressure sensor. The pressure sensor measures pressure inside the cabinet and this information is then used for controlling the fan speed. The air filter is presented in Figure 50 Flexi Cabinet Air Filter (FCFA).

Flexi Cabinet Site Support Module (FCSA) The optional site support module (FCSA) 470145A can be used with the outdoor cabinet to provide long-term battery back-up time for the Flexi BTS and a space for installing line terminal equipment units. The FCSA provides IP55 protected installation space for the power distribution unit (PDU), IBBU AC interface box, rectifier units, line terminal equipment, control card, heat exchanger, and fans.

Flexi Cabinet Site Support Module (FCSA) does not include a heater. Therefore, the lowest temperature inside the FSCA module might be the ambient temperature. The highest allowed temperature for the FCSA module is +50°C (+122°F). The allowed temperature of the units has to be checked before installing them into the FCSA module. The maximum inside temperature of the FCSA module might be approximately 10 to 20 degrees of Celsius higher than the ambient temperature. This is caused by the inside heat dissipation. There is a separate option for battery installation in the site support module. Batteries are fixed and cabled using Flexi Mounting Kit for Batteries (FMBA). The kit contains battery cables, a cable from IBBU to the battery cables for safe installation, rubber spacers, and front fixing parts to the batteries. The site support is presented in Figure 51 Flexi Cabinet Site Support Module (FCSA).

Flexi Multiradio BTS modules can be installed into the CityTalk cabinet by using the Talk Conversion Kit (EMIB). UltraSite Outdoor Side Kit (OSKA) description

The side kit allows both WCDMA and GSM/EDGE Flexi modules to be connected to it, with each module being housed within a Flexi housing. The Flexi Rectifier Module (FPRA) can also be mounted directly to the side kit without the need of a Flexi Housing. The side kit can be fixed to either the left-hand side, right-hand side, or the rear of an Ultrasite Outdoor cabinet. A maximum of two modules can be stacked on top of each other to three different fixing points in one plate. This results to a total installation of six Flexi modules. Note that only two faces of an Ultrasite Outdoor cabinet can be used at any one time, which are left-hand side and rear or right-hand side and rear. If two faces are used then it yields to a maximum of 12 Flexi modules’ installation. Both left-hand side and right-hand-side cannot be used at the same time. The maximum weight of modules in each face is 130 kg (286.6 lbs). If both side and rear faces are used, then the maximum weight is 260 kg (573.2 lbs). For details, see the figure below:

UltraSite IDC_ Roof Kit (IRSA)

The IRSA UltraSite IDC_ Roof Kit is used to install the Flexi Rectifier module (FPRA), or any other Flexi unit, on the roof of an UltraSite Indoor cabinet. For improved access to the Antenna Connections on the IDC_ Antenna Box, the adapter plate of the IRSA Ultrasite IDC_ Roof Kit can be fitted in a forward position. The kit can also be adapted so that it can be used for mounting units on the side of the IDC_ cabinet. The FPRA is configured as part of the respective BTS and forms a fully integrated solution for sites requiring battery backed-up facility. For this application, either the FPRA or Flexi modules can be installed. Three Flexi modules can be installed into an IRSA roof kit on the cabinet roof. Repeater Interface Module (FHCC) is a special purpose Remote Radio Head, which interconnects the System Module and operators’ repeater system.

Repeater Interface Module (FHCC) operation and main blocks The FHCC includes six full pipes of transmitters and receivers which can be connected to the operators’ repeater system through analog IF interfaces. Transmitters and receivers consist of digital transceiver sections and analog IF sections. RF sections are not included in the RIM since the RF frequency converter and power amplifier are accommodated by the repeater system. The FHCC supports two modes of working: • •
