Preface I have never been motivated myself ever till I got to know what is motivation. People around me always guided me around lot of major factors of motivation, but it was strange for me that none of the factor or process worked on me.

I was losing all my hopes in life and was sure of quitting what I was doing. I decided that I am not capable enough of doing or achieving things.

I have never been a topper in school and was never considered among

bright students. My parents were too much concern about my future and I was always been given examples of some of my friends and cousins (you know a common trend followed by parents) yes, sometimes a comparison can be a motivational factor, but for me it didn't worked and somehow I was able to pass my schooling with no great results. My parents were not happy but yes I was happy as I was feeling like I am out of prison. For me school was a prison when I actually realised I was fool in thinking so. I know my parents were not happy with my results but yet they always motivated me "yes you can do, do

better next time." but my next time never came.

I was sure I have something which I need to do but something was missing within me and I was not able to understand the factor which was missing.

I wanted to do best and wanted to make my parents feel proud, I knew that I will be able to but how? When? What was missing? I never knew this till I read a story somewhere... it all started and I knew what was missing.

"Am I dead or alive, am I here or there"

About a hundred years ago, a man looked at the morning newspaper and to his surprise and horror, read his name in the obituary column. The news paper had reported the death of the wrong person by mistake. His first response was shock, Am I here or there? When he regained his composure, his second thought was to find out what people had said about him. The obituary read "Dynamite king dies" and also "he was the merchant of death". This man was the inventor of the dynamite and when he reads the

words merchant of death. He asked himself a question, " is this how I am going to be remembered?" he got in touch with his feelings and decided that this was not the was he wanted to be remembered from that day on, he started working towards peace. His name was 'Alfred Noble' and he is remembered today by the great Nobel Prize.

It really made me think, what is something I can do so I am remembered and my family is proud of me.

WHAT IS A GOAL? Setting up goal for a student I want to pass my highschool with good percentage is NOT a goal, setting up goal, "I want to pass highschool with above 80%." This is a goal.

Set up a meaningful goal, a goal which is measurable.

MEANINGLESS GOALS. A farmer had a dog who used to sit by the roadside waiting for vehicles to come around. As soon as one came he would run down the road, braking and trying to overtake it. Once day I asked the farmer “do you really think your dog is ever going to catch a car" The farmer replied, "That is not what bothers me. What bothers me is what he would do if he ever caught one."

1) S - Specific, Make your goals which are specific. Setting up target like " I want to lose weight" this is wishful thinking not a specific goal. It becomes a goal when you pin down to "I want to lose 5kg in 90 days."

3) A - achievable, Stating I can bring stars for you my dear, is not achievable, that might look wonderful when you hear. Goals, which look nice from far, amaze you when you think about but in reality somewhere in your heart you know that it's not practical or achievable than don't ever try to go for it. You will lose. Make goals which are achievable.

3) R - Realistic, Be practical in setting up your goals. As I stated before it should be achievable same way it should be realistic. If you have setup the goals which are not realistic in nature for sure at the end you will realize your goals were not set properly & you wasted all your efforts.

5) T - Time Bound Goals cannot start without a date and end without a date, goals need to have date associated with them. I want to lose weight, I want to be a millionaire, I want to quit bad habits, imagine these type of goals which we place every day for ourselves, and other side of coin states "you have never achieved them" goals without targeted dates are not achievable.

"Make inventory of your strengths and weaknesses"

Take a piece of paper and list of all your strengths and weaknesses. Write it on a piece of paper and make an action plan to overcome your weaknesses which might become hurdle in achieving your goals.
