The crime and punishment and prisons system are very different from country to others so I would like to focus on the characteristics of the Spanish prisons because It´s what I know .

Most of the Spanish prisons are modern and offer sports and leisure facilities. Prisoners may also have television in their cells and most can make a daily phone call .Even for persons who haven´t the freedom I believe they can live comfortably .

In Spain the prisoners are not force to do a hard labor. In my opinion I think it should do social tasks or help keeping up public resources like buildings, sites , highways .. ect . May be a way to help the government for the cost of prisons .

When anybody talk about crime and punishment the main issue that divides the opinion of people is the death penalty. Many people think the death penalty would decrease the number of criminals but if I have to be honest, I am against . However I am in favor of life imprisonment. From my point of view , for serious crimes might be the most fair punishment , for example for terrorists or serial killers.. On the other hand I disagree using it for thieves, burglaries, muggers ...

Currently we can know by the media many cases of famous people who have committed fraud or have stolen public money. Anyway they have enough money to release on bail and pay the betters lawyers. Poor people and rich people normally discuss different types of crime but is not a only a poverty issue. All governments work on preventing crimes, is a very difficult task and in my opinion it is impossible to completely prevent. Countries spend money on police, surveillance systems, prisons .. etc .... that can help to prevent, but from my point of view the best prevention is the education of the population..
