The five child development learning outcomes: 1.) Theoretical and Research Knowledge: The student will have knowledge of child growth and development with emphasis on age 0-8 years, and will identify appropriate expectation of children's age/stage behavior. I have met this outcome through research, trial and error lesson plans, textbook information, and course work that have given me knowledge on appropriate expectations of children's age/stage behavior. 2.) Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum: The student will plan and implement a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for children's physical, emotional, mental, social, language, and creative needs. In particular, the student will create a learning environment which contains developmentally appropriate materials and activities, emphasizing concrete, experiential, active learning, and give children choices for play/work. I have met this outcome through the many lesson plans I have designed and implemented for young children. Through coursework, I have designed my own classroom, looked through childcare magazines for developmentally appropriate materials and equipment to make a learning environment, and I have taught children in the classroom 12 lesson plans that I designed myself which offered appropriate materials and activities, active learning and given children choices for play/work. 3.) Methodology: The student will be able to implement and assess teaching and learning strategies through reflective teaching, will meet the needs of young children through individualized programs or professional referrals, and will communicate the abilities of each child in singular, small group and large group activities for the child's parent or guardian. I have observed in many classrooms and different programs throughout my college experience. I have shadowed teachers and eventually taught my own lessons in the classroom. In my co-op I interacted with staff, students, and teachers. I sent out letters to parents about me, and to inform them on information about what the classroom is learning and how the year is going. I taught 6 small group and 6 large group lesson plans to the children throughout this semester. 4.) Guidance: The student will observe and record a child's behavior to provide appropriate activities and guidance methods that positively encourage the child's self control and self discipline individually or in groups, and will demonstrate trusts in and respect for young children through words and actions.

I have met this outcome through textbooks and course work throughout the year. The textbook "The Power of Guidance" by Dan Gartrell has helped me learn more about positively encouraging children's self control and self discipline. I also seen this at my co-op placement on a daily basis by other teachers in the classroom. 5.) Field Experience: The student will exhibit professional demeanor and show commitment to the guidelines for responsible behavior in childhood education according to the Code of Ethical Conduct as endorsed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. I have met this outcome by being placed at a site for this semester and gaining 160 hours of field experience. I was able to work in a professional setting and act with responsible behavior according to the Code of Ethical Conduct.
