How do I configure repeater mode on DWL-G700AP?

The table 1 shows the compatible D-Link devices, with their corresponding firmware, that DWL-G700AP can repeat the wireless signal.

How does repeating work?

Things you should note about repeating : a) Repeating should be done only with the listed D-Link devices shown on the table 1. b) Repeater (AP2) can repeat only if it is within the wireless coverage of the access point (AP1), as shown in the above diagram. c) Data throughput (performance) will be cut down to half (50%) due to an extra route being introduced in the repeater. d) Repeating the signal of the access point (AP1) will widen the coverage of your Wireless LAN. e) Kindly write down the following information in preparation for configuring the repeater : i. The SSID of the Access point (AP1) or Wireless Router that you want to repeat. ii. The wireless channel that you are using for your Access Point (AP1) or Wireless Router. iii. The wireless security setting of your Access Point (AP1) or Wireless Router.

Step 1 Connect your DWL-G700AP using the UTP ( network ) cable. There are two ways to do it : a) PC connects to DWL-G700AP directly:

Step 2 Launch your web browser, enter the IP address of DWL-G700AP (default is 192.168.0.50) and press Enter.

Step 3 Enter the username (“admin” by default) and your password (blank by default). Click OK to enter the web-based configuration for the device.

Step 4 You will see a DWL-G700AP configuration page shown as below.

Click on Home. Click on Wireless Choose Repeater under Mode. Click on Site Survey to search for the Access Point, which you want to connect to and repeat the signal.

**A Small window will popup while it is doing a wireless scan.

Step 5 Select the AP which you want to connect to. Click on Connect button at the bottom of this small window.

Step 6 Please note that Repeater’s SSID, Channel and wireless security must be the same with AP1 (Access Point or Wireless Router).
