Synopsis up to this point: Ram is throwing a party while his parents are gone. Veronica has just joined the group of popular girls called “The Heathers.” She was invited to her first party and is going all out on alcohol, drugs, etc. Somewhere along the line someone wrote a letter inviting Veronica’s old friend (Martha) saying it was from Ram (host of the party) to make fun of her. Everyone at the party plans on partying hard with drugs, alcohol, and sex. RAM SWEENEY - 17, Linebacker. Big, insensitive to the feelings of others, ruled by appetites. Voice: Up to E on solo (baritone) KURT KELLY - 17. Quarterback and Captain. Big, chiseled, rude, entitled, cocky. Mean, thinks he’s the brains in the friendship with Ram. Voice: Up to E on solo (baritone) HEATHER CHANDLER - 17. Richest, hottest, most magnetic, cruelest girl in town. Relishes power and wields it like a scalpel – no fear, no patience, no mercy. Leader of the Heathers at this point in time. Voice: Mezzo for trio/ chorus. Deeper speaking voice preferred. HEATHER MACNAMARA - 17. Beautiful, innocent, stupid, can be mean on command if Heather Chandler orders it, but actually quite vulnerable and fearful. Voice: Soprano for chorus. Higher speaking voice preferred. NOTE: in certain choral songs Heather Mac and Duke can switch vocal parts as needed. HEATHER DUKE - 17. Whipping-girl of the 3 Heathers. When she finally becomes Queen Bee she wields power like a bulldozer. Alto for chorus. Voice: Alto for chorus. NOTE: in certain choral songs Heather Duke and Mac can switch vocal parts as needed. ***The three Heathers’ singing solo is in a trio, the rest of their solo is spoken only. You MUST be able to hold your part up against the other two heathers. Speaking voices preferences are preferences only, not requirements. Singing comes first*** VERONICA SAWYER - 17. She burns to be both cool and kind, but doesn’t know yet how to be both at the same time. Fierce sense of right and wrong, keen sense of ironic humor. Thinks she's an old soul, but she's still innocent enough to be blindsided by love/hormones (or shocked by cruelty). Voice: High belting required, up to Ab. Must have dynamic and stylistic range. MARTHA DUNNSTOCK - 17. Nicknamed “Martha Dumptruck”, the opposite of hot, confident, or popular. Huge and beautiful soul, optimistic even in the face of rejection. Voice: Spoken only solo. Innocent sounding. PREPPY STUD – 17. Charming and handsome guy who hits on Veronica. Spoken only solo. MEN & WOMEN ENSEMBLE – 17. Typical horny teenagers who are ready to party while their parents are gone. Voice: Soprano, Alto, and Baritone/ Men (split into octaves for the higher sections)
