well it's a good starting point to develop the sound you want for the particular genre you're interested in...or anyway for experimenting to get the sound that expresses your music best... sounds interesting did it have more guitarists?post the link if you can please

Oh yeah, it had a ton of guitarists. I was just thinking that it would be cool to have something like it on here. But here's the link http://www.ultimate-...ad.php?t=294480 (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=294480)

Quite cool, but remeber the EQ on every amp colours the sound ina different way, so my EQ on a Marshall set the same as yours on say, a Cornford, will sound totally different. But I guess its a good starting point.

xViking-Shredderx

Posted 24 February 2009 - 06:01 PM

Well yes, but a little tweaking here and a little tampering there, can it not get you close to the kind of sound you want? I just use it as a reference to get the generalized area they play in. But either way, you're right, so I was just gonna go ahead and share the goodies I came across.

about the rythm part i think it's pretty obvious...but how much???and how much highs?i use a digitech death metal in a scoopy setting (although it sounds shit for rythm when u switch to the neck pickup) through a zakk wylde marshall ministack..and i'm having a hard time to get a satisfying tone for both neck and bridge pickup...but i managed to find something.. I am a member at SevenString.org for obvious reasons - will soon own three of the things but I couldn't find anything there either. I managed to scrounge up some older settings for Loomis, when he was playing Dual Recs newer.

. Those 2 channel Dual Recs are no longer produced by Mesa. Unfortunately, no settings for anything

Jeff Loomis - DEAD HEART IN A DEAD WORLD: Custom Built 7 String Guitar loaded with EMG 707 pickups. The guitars were routed into a Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer that was used as a signal boost. The settings on the TS-9 were: Drive: 9 O'Clock Tone: 10 O'Clock Level: 12 O'Clock This was fed into the amp that was used on all of the rhythm and leads. The amp used was a Mesa Boogie (2 Channel) Dual Rectifier that was straight from the box. The Mesa Recto was routed into a Marshall 1960B 4X12 Cab with the stock 75 Celestions they have. Settings on the Mesa Recto were: Silicon Diode Setting Bold Setting Red (Modern) Channel

If you have enough spare time do it...it will be for the sake of other viewers of this topic.. BTW i haven't tried the amp setting Vercingetorix posted...but i feel that 11:30 o'clock is a bit...low for lows XD ...i guess the ibanez tube screamer does the job with the tone adjustment...it must be a really good pedal...and i can say that even by using it with a line 6 toneport in the amp and effects programm called gearbox...the insane amp together with a pinch of gain and distortion from the screamer gives amazing results...changes the sound of the amp so much....even digitally...imagine in reality..XD

After I found the settings I thought both the treble and the lows were a little o0n the low side when compared to the mids, not much of the traditional metal scooping happening there. So I'm putting it down to the Tubescreamer. My guitar tutor said that all a lot of the good metal guitarists use a Tubescreamer OD). Up till then I thought the only guitarist who used one was SRV
