Por ejemplo: An old man – an old woman A red table – two red tables
COMPARATIVO En ingles existen 3 tipos de comparatives: INFERIORIDAD, IGUALDAD Y SUPERIORIDAD
1) COMPARATIVO DE INFERIORIDAD: Estructura: less + tan / not as … as Ejemplo: He is less intelligent than you (El es menos inteligente que tu) Ejemplo: He is not as intelligent as you (El no es tan inteligente como tu) Nota: Normalmente se utiliza less para incontables y fewer para contables.
Por ejemplo: His madness has gone much further this year.
MODIFICACIONES GRAFICAS (SPECIAL SPELLING) 1. Por ejemplo: nice – nicer – the nicest
Por ejemplo: pretty – prettier – the prettiest.
Por ejemplo: grey – greyer – the greyest.
Por ejemplo: big – bigger – the biggest.

An elephant
A television
An orange
A car
An apple
A human being
An hour
SOME (Singular / Plural) Utilizamos "some" en SINGULAR con aquellos sustantivos que no se pueden contar, que son incontables. Ejemplos: some milk
some sugar
some water
some tea
Ejemplos: A car – some cars
a dog - some dogs
An hour – some hours
an elephant - some elephants
SOME / ANY Como normal general utilizamos some para frases afirmativas en singular, si el sustantivo es incontable, y en frases afirmativas en plural si el adjetivo es contable. Ejemplos: Some milk
Some dogs
Ejemplos: There isn't any milk in the glass
There aren't any dogs in the street
Pero podemos encontrar algunas excepciones. Por ejemplo, si hacemos una pregunta en la que esperamos una respuesta afirmativa utilizamos some en lugar de any. Por ejemplo Would you like some more coffee?
Por ejemplo: If he finishes his homework, he’ll go to the cinema.
Por ejemplo: If I met Leonardo DiCaprio, I’d ask him for his autograph.
Por ejemplo: If she had got up earlier, she wouldn’t have missed the train. Como se puede observar en los ejemplos, la estructura de este tipo de oración sería la siguiente: [if + pasado perfecto simple] + [condicional perfecto (would have+participio)
ESTILO INDIRECTO INGLÉS Compara la diferecia entre el estilo directo y el indirecto: Estilo directo: He said: " I don't want to go home yet". Estilo indirecto o repoted speech: He said (that) he didn't want to go home yet.
They told me: "Water boils at 100 degrees" ---- They told me (that) water boils at 100 degrees. She said: "He has to work all weekend" ----She said (that) he had to work all weekend.
Cambios de tiempo verbal en estilo indirecto: Presnte simple - Pasado simple Presente continuo - Pasado continuo Pasado simple - Pasado Perfecto simple Pasado continuo - Pasado Perfecto continuo Presente Perfecto - Pasado Perfecto Futuro Simple (will) - Consicional simple (would) Can - Could Must - Had to May - Might
Reporting verbs: Verbo + (that): say, claim, explain, insist, agree, complain, deny, reply. Verbo + pronombre objeto + (that): tell (She told me that…) Verbo + infinitive con –to: offer, refuse, agree, promise… Verbo + for + verbo (-ing): apologise, thank
Expresiones que cambian en estilo indirecto: Tomorrow – the next day / the following day Today – that day Yesterday – the day before / the previous day
Next week – the following week Last week – the week before / the previous week Now – then Here – there This week – that week
Cambios en los pronombres personales sujeto y objeto I don´t know YOU – She said she didn´t like ME WE are late – He said THEY were late
Cambios en los posesivos That not MY book – He said that wasn´t HIS book
Peticiones e imperatives en estilo indirecto: (not) to + infinitivo “Shut up” – He asked me TO shut up “Don´t open that window” – He ordered them NOT TO open that window
He asked: “Where are you?” – He asked me WHERE I was *Preguntas cuya respuesta es si o no (sin palabra interrogativa) She asked me: are you OK? – She asked me IF / WHETHER I was OK
Sugerencias en estilo indirect: Suggest + -ing / that should They suggested leaving early
They suggested that we should live early
GENITIVO SAJÓN EN INGLÉS GENITIVE CASE Normalmente ultilizamos -'s para personas o animales (the girl's name... / the horse's... etc.): the girl's name
the horse's tail
a woman's hat
Mr. Evans's daughter
the manager's office Sarah's eyes
* Where is the manager's office? (not "the office of the manager") * What colour are Sarah's eyes? (not "the eyes of Sarah")ara Ten en cuenta que el genitivo sajón -'s puede utilizarse sin necesidad de añadir un sustantivo después, ya que éste se sobreentiende. * This isn't my book. It's my brother-'s (= my brother's book)
Observa el significado de los siguientes ejemplos para entender mejor la traducción del genitivo sajón. a woman's hat = a hat for a woman a boy's name = a name for a boy a bird's egg = an egg laid by a bird
Para cosas, ideas, etc. normalmente utilizamos of (...of the book /... of the restaurant, etc.): the door of the garage (not the garage's door) the name of the book the owner of the restaurant * Algunas veces podemos utlizar la estructura nombre + nombre. Por ejemplo: the garage door the restaurant owner
Sin embargo, normalmente utilizamos of ( y no la estructura nombre + nombre) con the beggining/ end/ top/ bottom/ front/ back/ middle/ side etc. Por ejemplo: the back of the car (not "the car back")
the beginning of the mouth Podemos utilizar -'s y of... para una organización (un grupo de personas). Así pues, podemos decir: the government's decision
o
the decision of the government
the company's success
o
the success of the company
* Es además posible utilizar -'s para lugares. Así que podemos decir: the city's new theatre
the world's population
Italy's largest city
Por ejemplo: my sisters' room the Carters' house * Si el plural no acaba en -s (por ejemplo, men/ women/ children/ people) utilizamos -'s. Por ejemplo: the men's changing room * Observa que podemos utilizar -'s después de más de un nombre: Jack and Jill's wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Carter's house
Have you still got yesterday's newspaper? Next week's meeting has been cancelled. Ejemplos: I've got a week's holiday starting on Monday. Jill has got three weeks' holiday. I live near the station -it's only about ten minutes' walk
I WISH / IF ONLY PRIMER TIPO: I WISH/IF ONLY + PASADO SIMPLE En esta estructura el verbo “WISH” va seguido de un pasado irreal cuando queremos hablar sobre situaciones en el presente con las que no somos felices, pero tampoco las podemos cambiar. Por ejemplo: I wish I had more Money – Ojala tuviese mas dinero (pero no lo tengo) I wish I colud come to the party – Ojala pudiese venir a la fiesta (pero no puedo)
SEGUNDO TIPO: I WISH/IF ONLY + PASADO PERFECTO SIMPLE Utilizamos esta estructura cuando queremos hablar sobre situaciones del pasado con las que no somos felices, o acciones de las que estamos arrepentidos. Por ejemplo: I wish I hadn´t said that – Ojala no hubiese dicho eso (pero lo dije) He wishes he hadn´t bought the car – Ojala el no hubiese comprado el coche (pero lo compro)
TERCER TIPO: I WISH/IF ONLY + WOULD + INFINITIVO Utilizamos esta estructura cuando queremos protestar por algo, es decir, cuando queremos que alguien abandone un habito. Por ejemplo: I wish he would stop smoking – Ojala el dejara de fumar (no me gusta y quiero que cambie)

- Yesterday , Last day/month/week/year, A specific date in the past (In 1979), Ago

1. PRONOMBRES PERSONALES SUJETO / OBJETO
ADJETIVOS POSESIVOS / PRONOMBRES POSESIVOS
RELATIVOS EXPLICACIÓN 1. WHO (que ,quien, quienes) - Lo utilizamos para referirnos a personas. Ej: The boy, who you met yesterday, is my brother. 2. Ej: The car, which you bought yesterday, is really nice. 3. 4. WHAT (lo que) - Utilizamos "what" con este sentido cuando es pronombre relativo, y no interrogativo. Ej: What you say is false! ///// I don't understand what you say. 5. WHERE (donde) - Indica lugar. Ej: This is the house where I live.
6. WHEN (cuando) - Indica tiempo. Ej: Yesterday, when you called me, was special for me. 7. WHOSE (cuyo, a, os, as) - Indica posesión. Ej: Maria, whose father is a doctor, is my cousin. 8. Ej: I don't understand why she got angry yesterday.
Por ejemplo: Felipe VI, who is the King of Spain, is very tall man. Ejemplos: The boy, who you saw yesterday, is my friend. The car, which you bought last week, is really nice
Ejemplo: He is the boy who broke the window SE OMITE: Los tres relatives que pueden omitirse son WHO, WHICH y THAT. Ejemplo: He is the boy (who) you saw last week. NOTA: El resto de relativos (todos menos who, which y that) no se omiten
Compara estos dos ejermplos: My English teacher is a man, but my Maths teacher is a woman. The student in front of me was a girl. The student next to me is a boy.
SUSTANTIVOS PROPIOS SUSTANTIVOS COMUNES SUSTANTIVOS ABSTRACTOS SUSTANTIVOS COLECTIVOS
MARY, SPAIN, JOHN, MADRID CHAIR, CAT, WOMAN, RABBIT BEAUTY, COURAGE, FEAR CROWD, GROUP, TEAM

MASCULINO MAN BOY SON BROTHER HUSBAND UNCLE KING FATHER
FEMENINO WOMAN GIRL DAUGHTER SISTER WIFE AUNT QUEEN MOTHER
MASCULINO ACTOR LION PRINCE
FEMENINO ACTRESS LIONESS PRINCESS
Ejemplos: Lady - ladies Day - days 3. Thief - Thieves Life - Lives 4. Ejemplos: sheep - sheep (oveja, ovejas) salmon - salmon (salmón, salmones) 5. Hay sustantivos que solo tienen forma plural. Ejemplos: glasses (gafas) troussers (pantalones) scissors (tijeras)
SUSTANTIVOS IRREGULARES EN PLURAL Man - Men Woman - Women Child - Children Person - People Foot - Feet Goose - Geese Tooth - Teeth Mouse - Mice

Por ejemplo: Paco will pass selectividad (pero todavía no lo sabe) Para decisiones espontáneas: “Which do you prefer tea or coffee? – I will have a coffee” Para expresar acciones que se producirán 100% seguro: I will be 18 next month.
ESTRUCTURA - Afirmativa: sujeto + will + infinitivo sin -to + complementos Ejemplo: She will fly to New York - Negativa: sujeto + won't + infinitivo sin-to + complementos Ejemplo: She won't fly to New York - Interrogativa: Will + sujeto + infinitivo sin -to + complementos? Ejemplo: Will she fly to New York?
Por ejemplo: I am going to go to David’s party this weekend.
ESTRUCTURA - Afirmativa: sujeto + am/is/are + going to + infinitivo + complementos Ejemplo: She is going to visit her aunt on Saturday - Negativa: sujeto + am/is/are + not + going to + infinitivo + complementos Ejemplo: She isn't going to visit her aunt on Saturday - Interrogativa: am/is/are + sujeto + going to + complementos? Ejemplo: Is she going to visit her aunt on Saturday?

1. Valoración general de la persona. En este caso intentamos responder a la pregunta "What is she like? o What does she look like? (¿Cómo es ella? ¿Cual es su apariencia? Her name is Alice. She is a very young girl. In fact, she must be around 15 years old. Physically, she looks very tall and slim. (Su nombre es Alice. Es una chica muy joven. De hecho, debe tener unos 15 años. Físicamente, (ella) es alta y delgada.
2. Vamos a hacer una descripción por partes. Vamos a empezar por el cabello. She has got a long curly dark hair.
Por ejemplo: She is wearing a white t-shirt and black jeans. (Ella lleva una camiseta blanca y unos vaqueros negros).
Alice looks really casual. She is a wearing a very nice white trainers. (Alice tiene una apariencia muy casual. LLeva unas deportivas blancas muy bonitas.
Por ejemplo: Alice is a very ambitious and hardworking girl because she usually gets everything she wants to. Por ejemplo: Alice has got a thin face and she looks really pale. In addition, she has got dark blue eyes and a small nose.

Por ejemplo: He reads the newpaper slowly. Estaria mal decir “He reads slowly the newspaper”.
Por ejemplo: Steve carefully does all the homework that his teachers give her each day. Por ejemplo: He looked carefully at her. He looked at her carefully. Por ejemplo: She looked carefully at the picture on the wall. Anne typed the letter slowly at the office yesterday. Anne typed the letter at the office slowly. Por ejemplo: Gently she carried the bird to its nest.
People is: People en inglés es plural. Por tanto, se dice “people are” (la gente es) The people are: El “the” se elimina en nombres genéricos como people o cuando generalizamos. Por ejemplo: Peple are intelligent (La gente es inteligente) / Men are tall (los hombres son altos)
3.
Much (mucho/a para incontables) / Many (muchos/as para contables) / Very (muy). Ejemplos: much water / many tables / she is very intelligent.
4.
Los adjetivos van delante del nombre. Por ejemplo Coche nuevo
5.
new car (sería incorrecto decir “car new”)
Después de like, love y hate el verbo se escribe en gerundio, excepto si “love, like y hate” van en condicional. Por ejemplo: I like singing (Me gusta cantar) / I would like to sing (me gustaría cantar).
6.
7.
8.

10. Los adjetivos en inglés son invariables. No llevan plural. Por ejemplo: They are very intelligent (nunca se podría decir intelligents). 11. Por ejemplo: We usually go walking / They sometimes go running. 12.
John is taller than James (nunca podríamos decir “more tall”) John is more intelligent than James (nunca podría ser intelligenter) 13. El verbo “esperar” en ingles se expresa de varias formas: Tener esperanza (I hope you to win espero que ganes) Esperar a algo o alguien (I am wainting for you te estoy esperando) Esperar algo de alguien (I expect you to pass espero que apruebes) 14.
¿Cuándo utilizamos when y while? Por ejemplo: While I was watching TV someone knocked the door.
While my brother was studying I was washing the dishes (Mientras mi hermano estaba estudiando yo estaba lavando los platos)
1B.[pasado continuo] + [while + pasado continuo] podemos darle la vuelta y no afecta nada I was washing the dishes while my brother was studiying (Estaba lavando los platos mientras mi hermano estaba estudiando)
Por ejemplo: While my brother was watching TV his Smartphone rang (Mientras mi hermano estaba viendo la TV su telefono sono)
2B.[pasado simple] + [while + pasado continuo] podemos darle la vuelta y no afecta nada His Smartphone rung while my brother was watching TV
Por ejemplo: When he atrrived home I was sleeping(Cuando el llego yo estaba durmiendo)
1B.[pasado continuo] + [when + pasado simple] I was sleeping when he arrived (Yo estaba durmiendo cuando el llego)
Por ejemplo: When she was studying she fall asleep (Cuando ella estaba estudiando se quedo dormida)
2B.[pasado simple] + [when + pasado continuo] She fall asleep when she was studying (Ella se quedo dormida cuando estaba estudiando)
Por ejemplo: When he arrived home he didn´t know what to do (Cuando llego a casa no sabia que hacer)

Perhaps people think teaching English is "easy-peasy", but this complex task is a challenge in countries where English is not a mother tongue, but nontheless I don't want to make excuses and find real ways to be successful.
First step is to blame our politicians and claim new ambitious laws to modify our current system of acquiring English. This is not only affecting at school, but also from the media, for example with a wider range of radio and television channels or films in original version. But can we really trust on our crooked politicians?
Second step would be changing the way we teach at schools. A real use of language must take place instead of memorising endless lists of words. Sometimes the image we project can be changed with simple modifications.
Third step consists of immersing onself in English society as soon as possible. In this way, English is attainable if we take advantage of our brains plasticity while we are children.
In summary, English teaching in Spain will be much better if we change our methodology to learn new languages.
