FREQUENCY ADVERBS

FREQUENCY ADVERBS. Usually o Normally (usualmente o normalmente) They usually spend the summer in the mountains.

Always 100% Almost always 95–99% Usually 90–99%

Often (a menudo) You often dine at Peter's, don't you? Sometimes (algunas veces) Ben sometimes goes to the theater. Ben a veces va al teatro.

Frequently 80–90% Often 60–80% Sometimes 50% Occasionally 30–40% Seldom 5–10%

Occasionally (ocasionalmente) Rarely 1–10% Janet occasionally visits her parents. They live in Italy. Never 0% Rarely (rara vez) Mrs. Hills rarely leaves home after 10:00 p.m. Never (nunca) They never go hiking in winter. 1. Si la oración lleva el verbo "TO BE" (am, is, are) el adverbio de frecuencia se coloca DESPUES DEL VERBO: Ejemplos: I'm USUALLY in a hurry (Generalmente estoy apurado) He's NEVER at home (El nunca está en casa) We are OFTEN at school (Estamos a menudo en la escuela) 1 LSC’13

2. Si la oración lleva CUALQUIER OTRO VERBO (play, have, watch, etc.) el adverbio de frecuencia se coloca DELANTE DEL VERBO: Ejemplos: They USUALLY have dinner at 8:00 (Ellos cenan usualmente a las ocho); I NEVER play tennis on Saturdays(Nunca juego tennis los sábados); She OFTEN goes to the movies (Ella va a menudo al cine) 3.- Si la oración tiene MÁS DE UN VERBO (de los cuales uno es auxiliar), coloca el adverbio de frecuencia antes del verbo principal. Ej. I can never do anything when my kid is sick. Do you usually brush your teeth after each meal? Yes, I always brush my teeth after each meal. She doesn’t often go shopping. Normally, I get up at around at 7 a.m. (Normalmente me levanto alrededor de las 7.) On weekends and holidays, I always get up late.
