Problem solution When you didn’t hear or didn’t understand ask for clarification by saying:  I beg your pardon. I didn’t quite catch you question. / I didn’t hear your question well. Would you repeat it, please?  I’m afraid I don’t understand what you’re asking me. Would you mind rephrasing it?  I’m sorry but I didn’t quite understand. Could you explain it to me?  Excuse me, could you repeat what you just said? When you don’t know a word, ask for clarification by saying:  Could you explain what “…” means, please?  I don’t understand “…” Would you explain it please?  Excuse me, but what does “…” mean?  I’m not quite sure what this expression here means. Could you tell me?  How do you pronounce this word and what does it mean? DO NOT SAY Eh??? What??? Repeat please.
