REPEATED COMPARATIVES AND DOUBLE COMPARATIVES Look at the statements using repeated comparatives. Repeated comparatives describe things that are INCREASING or DECREASING. The birthrate is getting lower and lower .

Look at the statements using double comparatives. Double comparatives describe a CAUSE-AND-EFFECT process.

The DOUBLE COMPARATIVE has the following structures: The + more/less adjective (+noun) + subject + verb,

The less children study, the less they learn. The longer she watches TV, the less she thinks about her problems. You can also combine both, adjectives and adverbs in the same sentence: The easier the test is, the longer students will wait to prepare. The more the students study for the test, the higher their scores will be. The happier the child is, the more the mom can relax.
