Record yourself 1. Record it 2. Listen to it and pick a small isolated issue that you want to focus on improving. Note, tempo change, articulation or dynamics. 3. FIX IT 4. Make another recording of the passage you are working on 5. Confirm that you can hear the improvement. Really! 6. If it sounds good, enjoy the success and jump to the next challenge. If not, go back to step 3.

Other hints 1. Add music first, then practice technique 2. Playing a solo part alone or with accompaniment normally changes 3. Over learn. Add at least 10% tempo and dynamics 4. Record the accompaniment and play along
 (Smart music, Sound recording software etc) 5. iPhone App called I-musician
