Reading 8 Read the texts and complete the sentences with Freddie or Karl. Freddie “the Forger” Franks was shaving one morning when suddenly he saw someone else’s face in the mirror. While spinning around to face the person, he dropped his razor. It was Karl “the Kidnapper” Kew, one of the Boss’s gang. Karl had been waiting in the shower. He had taken off his shoes and was carrying them in one hand. In the other hand, he had a gun. “What do you want?” shouted Freddie. “You’re coming with me,” said Karl. “The Boss has been looking for you for a long time.” “I wasn’t hiding. I was going to see him today, I promise.” While grabbing Freddie by the arm, the kidnapper stepped on the razor. He screamed and Freddie saw his chance to escape. He threw his towel over Kew’s head and ran out into the street. Before he realized what had happened, a crowd had gathered around him. He was standing on a snowy New York street, wearing nothing but a little shaving cream. A Freddie saw someone in the mirror. b Karl was standing in the shower, holding his shoes and a gun. c _____karl_________ wanted to kidnap him. d _______karl_______ stepped on the razor. e freddie ran onto the street without any clothes on.
