Materials: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Cotton yarn (about 35 grams per amigurumi) 2,5mm or 2,25mm crochet hook (depending on your tension) A bit of yarn for the crown A small amount of black yarn to embroider the eyes and light color for the nose Needles for sewing up Polyester toy stuffing A Liberty ribbon (18 cm) for the scarf A piece of thin cardboard to make the circle of the support (which will be slid inside the toy for more stability)

If using the same materials, the finished animal should measure approximately 8 cm. Note: Choose a hook which is a size smaller than what is recommended for the yarn, that way your stitches will be tight and your will not see the fiberfill from inside after stuffing. Since these are small characters, it is important that the stitches are tight.

Each piece is crocheted in a continuous spiral, not in joined rounds, starting off with a magic loop.. Use a stitch marker to mark the end of each round (a piece of contrasting yarn can be used if you don’t have any stitch markers). At the end of each line, you will find the number of stitches you should have in brackets. Please ensure that you stuff your toy firmly as you go.

The Ani-minis are worked top-down, in one piece, by starting with the head and ending with the body. They are based on two different head shapes: the oval head (for the rabbit and the deer) see page 3 The round head (for other animals) see page 4 The body is the same for all animals (see page 5) The instructions for crocheting the ears and embroidering the faces of the different animals are on pages 6-8 as well instructions to make the crown.

Flatten the ears and leaving a long tail for sewing the ears onto the head. Embroider the eyes at round 13 with 9 stitches between them and the nose on the same level. Embroider lines of darker color on the forehead, side of the head and side of the body. Tie the Liberty ribbon around the neck.

Lion: Mane (with main color) Make a chain of 52, starting in the 2nd ch from hook: 1sc; in the next stitch crochet (1hdc + 1dc) in the same stitch; in the next stitch crochet (1dc + 1hdc) in the same stitch; 1sc; 1slst and repeat 9 x (10 „waves“ all together). Leave a tail to sew the mane around the head. Ears (with main color. Make 2) 6sc in a magic loop 6sc around (6). Leaving a long tail for sewing the ears onto the head just behind the mane. Embroider the eyes and the nose. Tie the Liberty ribbon around the neck.

Crown: Make a chain of 15, join with a slst to form a ring. Crochet 1sc in each ch (15). *Make a ch4 and starting in the 2nd ch from hook, crochet 1slst, 1sc, 1hdc, skip the next stitch and fix this first "picot" with 1slst in the next stitch, 1slst in the next stitch*, repeat * to * around the crown (5 picotsSee graph). Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
